I own these monitors and have had them for 6 years. They are fine. You learn your monitors over time. I did some bass tests on them once with a friend and they went a little lower than the spec. I mix and whatnot w/ behringers and then listen to the mixes in my home stereo, w/ quality headphones, and in the car before I sell commercially. I do not use a sub. No mechanical problems yet..knock on wood.

I have had a pair of these since new. They are still flawless and rock solid. Best money I ever spent.

I am using these monitors since 2012 when I bought them second hand. I assume they were already about 4 years old. In 16 years nothing changed in the way they work, just perfect. I use them in my home studio and sometimes as speakers at chamber concerts.

The LIMITER separates the frequencies? I thought that was the CROSSOVER. ALso, keep in mind this is basically a GENELEC monitor. Genelec had discontinued it, Behringer had acquired the license for it. So, it is anything but "entry level." And the fact that they are malking and selling them forsome 20 years means that they are on their own considered classics (as of late 2022). Genelec still makes an almost identical monitor to this one, but it has a 10-inch woofer instead of an 8.75-inch woofer. That one costs USD $1,800 each (in 2022).

I bought a pair of B3031A 10 years ago, since then I've been using them in the worst condition possible. I've used them in several parties, blasting them with no care, handling them with no care, and they've been left unused for a year in a very humid environment. They're still rocking as the first day if not better! This is what i call an impressive build quality. After so many years Behringer decided to discontinue them in favor of a new crappy line of monitors, too bad!

Here comes this regarding longevity... I have them since 2004. In 2006, one blew its transformer as I switched it on. I had it fixed, installed a surge protector and they've been playing music for countless hours, for critical listening or at levels over 100 db, playing guitar/bass along with music, working for more than 10 hours every single day. They still work like new. There's some harshness from the tweeter around 11k, but low mid clarity is amazing. There are tons of more expensive speakers that are better as studio monitors, but I doubt that many are as enjoyable for doing a bit of everything as these are.
@frankfarago28252 жыл бұрын
Right. To get something markedly better, you needf to move to 10x the price and shop Adams, Focals Genelecs, PSIs.
@stepitupandgo676 жыл бұрын
I've had them for almost 7 years....no problems...they sound great....if anything,...not flat...they sound a little scooped and cool in the low end....but I like that....being inspired while mixing I think is better than having a military spec flat monitor system...although that certainly can help too....I think the behringers are useful,...along with a flat pair ...Yamaha ns 10s or whatever...to go back and forth I think would be helpful...if people are using similarly voiced stereo systems at home, for instance...most home stereos aren't flat,...but sweetened with eq, etc...

@izaatmusic I would go for the Behringers. The 2031's actually measure very closely to the HR824's. I myself could not pick out an audible difference between the two in my treated room. At that point it's merely a cost issue.

@sweetsweatyfeet8 жыл бұрын
You also mention commercial speakers are "sweetened". What exactly do you mean? Are you saying they reduce the output in the high frequencies? If that is what you think then you are wrong. All you need to do is look at the measurements in most any speaker review in Stereophile magazine. Most speakers they review have either decently flat or or somewhat elevated treble response. it's rare to find speakers with a dropping response these days. If the expensive tweeters in commercial speakers (like Dynaudo, Focal, Accuton, etc) sound "sweeter" to your ears it's because they are orders of magnitude lower distortion that the el cheapo tweeters used in Behringer products.
@MikeGervasi8 жыл бұрын
These are not "cheap" disposable speakers as you make them sound. I have a pair with the active sub that's like a piece of furniture. They are solid, powerful, flexible, and have the most amazing sound field out of any monitors I've used. I've had mine in the studio for about 5 years now and they have given me zero issues.
@frankfarago28252 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the guy is totally misguided. These are built solid as rock and last forever. They are solid as the higher3end Focals, Genelecs, PSIs. Those that start in the USD $3,000 price point. Not sure what the chap is talking about in the clip.

The "Waveguide" is the integral horn type that disperses the high frequency. Mackie , Genelec, KRK, Event , JBL , Yamaha, etc. all use waveguide horns in their monitors. Rule #1--- Know your subject before attempting to teach it.

These are the old GENELEC monitors that they stopped making and licensed them to Behringer instead. Genelec makes an identical one now with a 10-inch woofer, that costs $1,800 apiece (in late 2022).
@TheHardcore42913 жыл бұрын
dude your explanation for L-R filters is a little off. it is part of the crossover yes, but it is not a limiter. it is what determines the crossover point, how fast the EQ rolls off and at what frequency it starts to roll off. inversely for the tweeter it determines where and how fast it rolls back on. that way when those frequencies combine at the crossover point you don't get a 'bump' in the frequency response. nothing is altered other than amplitude. maintaining a overall flat response curve.
@dedskin19 жыл бұрын
I just looked up Mackie Hr824 speakers , and i was amassed to see that they use the same chips as Behringer Truth B2031A, and not only that but MAckie actually uses cheaper power supply , so its actually cheaper then this but sold for 3x the money. Far as sound goes , cuz its studio monitor it should be flat response , not much difference but i didnt hear mackie
@critofur14 жыл бұрын
Behringer makes some cheap stuff. Perhaps some of it does not stand up to abuse on the road as well as other brands? But, the the quality of the woofer used in this unit was astounding for the price point and the design of the speaker overall is excellent. I don't think that you could fairly say that another brand/model of speaker (even costing 3x as much) is "better" without doing a blind listening test to compare them without bias.

I just had my 2nd one fail on me for no good reason tonight... I'm never buying this brand again.(And by the way, I didn't buy these as studio monitors for accuracy -- I bought them to amplify recorded music to jam along with.) I am running an iPhone through an ART stereo tube preamp, then into the 2031s. One failed about a year.5 ago, and tonight I discovered that my other one powers down after about 0.5 seconds. I'm really disappointed... Behringer has great price points but ultimately, I wish I'd bought a brand with more reliability.I'm giving them a rating of "Crap".
@dedskin19 жыл бұрын
+blave549 They are very simplistic , they have only what they need to have . Behringer uses even more quality components the MAckie . How you managed to brake both speakers and amps is beyond my comprehensions but there are ways to do it . How exactly did they fail?
@blave5499 жыл бұрын
+Pavle Pavlovic I didn't brake them, I broke them --- or more accurately, they broke on me. I played them pretty loud, but anyway I'm talking about failures of two units, many months apart. I think that Behringer is a case of "you get what you pay for". I would like to see proof that they use better components than Mackie, by the way. You saying that and it actually being the case has yet to be verified.
@dedskin19 жыл бұрын
blave549 Well its not made for that , you could have modified them for that use and they wouldn't let you down ,A simple PC ventilator on top too keep them cool and they would work happily for years , i even used mine like that, but outside with nice cold breeze . Few times actually . Im pretty good in electronics , just checked the insides , its even better quality then 1000+ bucks monitors . SO its real shame you did that to them. I would offer a repair free of charge if i was near your area , but tough luck

Easy to fix these monitors....change the caps! :-)
@dedskin18 жыл бұрын
Idevelopme not exactly , more then few times i saw wires breaking under the cone of the driver . That is called dust cone , it covers the coil , wires go under , and they move as speaker moves . Sometimes they brake . My monitor has that issue . But i was like , its caps its caps , change the hole damn amp and still it cracled , then i realised , its a driver issue . And when it comes to caps in these monitors , its very much like computer SMPS, it even has chips . But it also has filters , active filters , very complex mathematical and tiny caps , so complex i didnt even change the caps , cuz only caps in there are Buffer power supply caps for AC/DC current conversion, those wont change much ,and other are just tiny, 100s of them . I would probably brake the board before i change em. Thats the problem . I know how to recap , but there are so many of them , and a lot of them SMD , dont know if changing those will help
