Aesthetic is so well preserved, and as with some of their other ‘throwbacks’ of late, they’ve put the appropriate effort into giving these machines the familiar look and feel that we’d dream of! I do like the LED laden sliders, at least there’s an adequate amount of travel. Hey, Behringer?!? Is it true that you’ve got a CS-80 in the works?!!

I used to think it was lame of Behringer to clone classic synths, but people pointed out that the companies who invented them have had decades to answer people's demand for a re-release and never did it. They left the opportunity on the table and if another company like Behringer comes along and picks it up... their loss, our gain.

@HotRodTypewriter
@HotRodTypewriter 5 жыл бұрын
meneerjansen00 it’s basically the same price. We have our own "VAT" style state taxes that don’t get added into that initial $100USD you always see. Every state taxes different so instead of having 50 different "vat prices" they list the base price and the states then add tax. We also have shit tariffs from China currently so we also get those added as well (even though Tr*mp says we don’t). So when you see $100 we are actually paying closer to $150 and it’s the EU that is actually the better deals. Plus, due to the tariff war, we are not even getting these synths from Behringer until months after everyone else. It’s a shitty time to be a synth consumer in USA.

It's a pure analogue synth. Once you start controlling parameters digitally, it loses some of it's liquid transitions. Plus, memories make you lazy.

They were great synths, people wanted them, but they were impossibly expensive and also old and worn out. The original companies had decades to answer the demand for a re-release but ignored it, then Behringer came along and grabbed the opportunity. Now people have access to all those great synths, there's more music being made, and, perhaps, the big synth companies might learn to listen to their customers instead of their marketing engineers (but probably not). But yeah, creating brand new analog synths like the Neutron is even better. Still got that organic feel from the old days but it is it's own thing with it's own sound. I have one and it's my favorite synth. :-)

I would just like to add that behringer did a great job here. $500 for a new odyssey (or any analog synth) is awesome, and it does sound wonderful. After playing and owning many vintage and modern synthesizers over the past few years, I am a little bit tired of how oversaturated the market has become, mainly because 90% of the synths are basically the same general sound. I look forward to behringer releasing something even more rare and interesting, such as one of the unaffordable classic polysynths. Yamaha CS 80? Jupiter 6 or 8? That would be really fun!
