The demo just shows that the pro one is simply one of the best sounding monosynths that ever existed. It's soundstage is perfection and makes its oscillators and filter come out of speakers like the way that other monosynths simply don't. My personal opinion is the pro one was the very best mono synth of the 80s. Good demo.

Thank you! At the moment this one is my favourite but I might be a bit biased because I always really loved that Pro 1 sound! Great choice V-Cious, of all the Beh clones the Pro-1 is the most versatile. I've had mine 6 months now & absolutely love it, so much so that I'm getting a 2nd next week despite the $50 price rise here in Aust. Something else that's sensational though is the Wasp, if that suits your tastes, superb build quality, & totally unique. I have 3 Wasps, fat outputs coupled through a Beh MX882 then into my guitar rig, sounds huge. BTW the inadvertent re-triggering problem in the 2020s was fixed last year with firmware upgrade V2.0. I'm waiting to see what Beh make of the Oberheims. Enjoy, this is the Golden age of synthesis.

@Voyager-422 жыл бұрын
8:27 is just a result of closing the filter under a pretty heavy delay 11:03 potentially two tracks, but more likely is that the LFO/Envelope is modulating the arp OSC, and then they have the bass OSC running underneath. The filter movement at the bit is too uniform across the spectrum, so I'd suggest it's all playing live from the 1 unit.

@lundsweden Жыл бұрын
I have both the Pro 1 and the 800. The Pro 1 is definately better for bass and to some degree leads. Pro-800 is probably a better all rounder though, if I had to have just one I'd go for it due to the polyphony and memories. The Pro-800 doesn't sound as ballsy though.
@ebbewertz34172 жыл бұрын
A question for the pro-1: Does the external Input go though the filter, lfo and envelopes just like the oscillators? Because would that make it possible to use (polyphonic)samples, played on a computer with midi keyboard, to replace the oscillators (and still trigger the envelope by connecting the same midi keyboard to the synth but with both oscillators mixed to zero)? (also, I suppose it wouldn't get additional noise to my input since it uses the same knob on the mixer, or does it?) Please let me know.
@sub-jec-tiv2 жыл бұрын
LFO is only going to operate on the filter of course, not on pitch of your incoming sound. Yes, you can send whatever you like including polyphonic samples through the filter. It has a super beautiful filter, it sounds just great on anything. You can hear in this demo when he tunes the oscillators to different pitches, the filter really emphasizes harmonics of polyphonic material in a beautiful way.

@@MatthewHyatt in a convoluted way, my point is the same - it's not the instrument but the player who makes it sound good. Some people might rush out and buy a Pro-1 and then be disappointed when they don't sound like DYMTN. Sure, some synths might have more/bigger sweet spots than others (e.g. Model D vs TW) but it's about how you take advantage of them and what sound you're chasing.

@GTChris2 жыл бұрын
The MPC reverbs can actually sound very good, thanks to all their settings you can tweak and routing you can do. The presets just don't bring out the best of it. Take a reference reverb sound and try to match it with the stock mpc reverb, you'll find you can recreate a lot. Also think outside of the box, use two reverbs on sends, one panned hard left and the other hard right. Or something like that.
