The TD-3 can sound very nice, as long as you don't use the onboard distortion haha. An external overdrive (pedal) works best in my opinion.

If you sync RD8(as slave) to Ableton, then yeah it gets really frustrating because RD8 sync like shit this way. But I use RD8 as master clock and Ableton as midi slave - this way I did not get any troubles.

I see you manually selecting onboard patterns but not see you move the td volume or anything else? Have you routed the td into the rd8 audio input or something? Hi! I automated mute/unmute in the Ableton when I go through presets in it. They were synced with a 3.5mm jack, rd8 has clock out and td3 sync in.
