Excellent! Just to add, you can also copy paste mix bus' from one to another as well. I use 4 QSC k10's, 4 Yorkville EM526, and 4 JBL VRX915's, (or combinations of these) as floor monitors at different times. They all have a different eq curve and I load the matching curve depending on which monitors I'm given for that gig. We always use Sennheiser 835's for vocals so it's a pretty consistent response. Unless the room creates a lot of problems, I'm usually way ahead of the game by doing this.

Wow! Drew, you are the man. I always asked myself, is there a way to copy and paste on this thing? Well, after watching you video yes there is a way to copy and paste. Thank you for your very informative videos.

I've owned my M32R console for about 8 years, now, and I always wished it could do this. Looks like it always could... I just never made the connection that "Utility" was an overlay for other screens! Amazing. Thank you for this tutorial!

Hey Drew, once again an excellent video, keep up with the good work! I'd like to ask a question that could also come in handy for other people: -> Do you think it's better to physically move the XLR input in order to be more organized, or should I change the Input of the channel strip on the config page? I honestly think the second is better so I don't keep plugging and unplugging the cables, I fear it could wear out the connections over time. Is my logic correct? I also would like to ask if you could make one video on EQing bass and guitars in different scenarios like: guitars with amplifiers and cabinets vs guitars with pedalbords/efx processors going line to the soundboard. Bass with amps, or active basses that go direct to the x32. Personally, I am really struggling with bass eq in my church! Once more, thank you for the awesome work, God bless you. Salutations from Brazil!

Hey, I'm thinking you could cause anyone else that tries to use that board a lot of grief if you reconfig all kinds of inputs. If somebody doesn't understand what you did, they will just think the channel is dead or the board is broken. The x32 is pretty rugged. It can take a few cables moving around. Ans if you're having a real time with bass in your church, maybe it's the church itself? You might try some kind of bass traps or moving the actual source. Moving amps and speakers can make a huge difference. Some rooms are tricky. If you are using subs and have them far apart near the side walls, move them side by side right in the middle if you can. Under a stage if you can. It will sum the subs and actually give you more punch but you can turn it down a bunch to help with that. The main thing is get them away from the walls. Having said all that, there is a very powerful 6 band parametric eq on the main bus as well as a 4 band parametric on the bass channel itself. If that isn't enough to notch the bad stuff out, run the bass through a mixbus by itself and then to the L/R main outs. The mixbus has ANOTHER 6 band parametric eq you can use to tame just the bass before it hits the mains.

Great info as always! I point a lot of new engineers your way to learn the path of X/M32. I do however, have a question: Does the copy/paste function when used on busses copy the send levels coming into them (from channels/sources) as well as going out (LR,M/C,Mtx), my instinct tells me it would just be the latter, but the ability to rearrange my busses in similar fashion is appealing (I.e. rearranging monitor mixes). Thanks for all your hard work!
@66fitton
@66fitton Жыл бұрын
I just checked, turns out it doesn't copy the mix going into the bus. Too bad, it would be a two second ordeal to wipe the mix clean if you wanted it empty. Takes a lot longer to rebuild one lol. They should make it an option in the recall scope. I could see it coming in handy.

Three and a half minutes in when you pasted onto channel 1 my first thought was: what if you NEED what's on channel 1 and don't want to overwrite with paste? That is, you just need to re-order the channels? I haven't seen any mention anywhere of a channel reorder mode, nor have I seen the concept of "insert" - not in the traditional sense of mixing but in the sense of inserting a channel at channel 1 and moving all the existing channels one over (1 goes to 2, 2 goes to 3, etc - presumably you'd lose channel 32 in this case?). But of course you can save 1 as a preset, overwrite it with channel 4 then later restore 1 onto the channel where you need it.

Would it be possible to show some topics like: - working with the PC-console (as I use a X32 Rack version, I've noticed that e.g. the distance phase measurement is missing in the remote) - or iPad console - recording and playback with Cubase Many thanks in advance.

Our church shares with another church. The other Church owns the facility and the x-32. We have set up our own scenes. However, the original church has very disorganized channels. Unfortunately, we don't feel at Liberty to move patches in the back. If you use the methods outlined in this video, must you reassign the physical inputs? Is it better to copy and paste or to reroute the signal?

All good info, but you actually do not have to move the input on the back of the board. Use an iPad, copy and paste and then change the input routing on the channel. You don’t have to move physical inputs. Just route them to a different fader. It is a digital board after all.
@ParkerEdwardsParties
@ParkerEdwardsParties 2 жыл бұрын
Why would you do that except for because you can.
@MSPWebs
@MSPWebs 2 жыл бұрын
@@ParkerEdwardsParties Because sometimes it’s a simpler move, especially with an install scenario. Sometimes you simply don’t have to fumble with the cables and can route any channel to any fader for convenience. Easier to move it virtually rather than mess around in the dog house. Example. Sound for a band… All set up, sound checked, etc… band has a guest who brought their own mic. Put it on an open channel and virtually moved it next to the lead and other vocalists for my ease. No physical movement of cables, no mistakes. No channels accidentally unplugged or put in wrong place. Just moved the input to a different fader. Have to stop thinking in physical analog mixing procedures, when not one of the inputs on a digital board are hardwired to a fader
@66fitton
@66fitton Жыл бұрын
@@MSPWebs That's all fine and dandy until someone else plugs a mic into a channel on the board and nothing happens when he tries to use it lol. There are a lot of people that can use a digital board to mix a show on who don't know shit about configuring it. Kind of funny how you made it seem like a no brainer when it's truly a nightmare if someone else had to use the board from scratch and you weren't there. You literally said "No channels accidentally unplugged or put in wrong place. Just moved the input to a different fader"... Like it was foolproof lol. I'm pretty sure the guy trying to use a board set up like that would argue. Like A LOT! You go ahead though.

We have to reassign inputs due to our first 4 being under the pulpit stand and not able to be accessed from the band. We currently use our ambient mics in 2 of them but they don’t make sense to be in input 1&2 on the x32 top layer.

Say i have a group of horns from a previous show on 13, 14, & 15. No w at a different show i'd like to use those same horns (as a starting point) but on channels 21,22 & 23. Is there a way to paste that snippet that is save 13 - 15 onto 21 - 23??

When using copy and paste and the selections for gain, eq, scribble, etc; does this copy the fader levels for house and sends or is there a way to do this? As I'm writing I am thinking maybe it can be done from a scene or preset but I have the same question. How can I move a mix on one channel, bus, group, etc. to another?

Now I use the same mix from the main channel copy/Send to my matrix mix.. so If am cutting down all the low frequency from the Main L/R .. then my matrix will not produce Full Range or full frequency as well.. What will you suggest I do ..??
@66fitton
@66fitton Жыл бұрын
Step 1. Create a NEW MATRIX and assign the L/R bus to it. Step 2. Assign the NEW MATRIX to the outputs that your L/R bus WAS assigned to. (Probably 15 & 16, or 7&8 if you have the studio or compact version) *** You don't need to physically re- patch anything. Your L/R bus was coming out of outputs 15 & 16, and it still is. Only difference is it's going through a matrix before hitting the very same outputs.**** (If you don't know how to assign a matrix to a specific output, start by watching that video first. Not hard, but I don't want to type all night lol.) Step 3. Write down the settings you had on your main L/R bus eq. Step 4. RESET THE MAIN L/R BUS EQ TO FLAT. *** Now the main L/R bus signal being sent to the first matrix has no eq on it. It will have 100% full range!!! Problem solved with the matrix mix... Step 5. Apply your main L/R bus eq settings that you had on your L/R bus that you wrote down to the NEW MATRIX EQ. Your main L/R bus signal is eq'd again the way it was without touching the actual eq on the L/R bus! All other matrix's will get a flat signal that you can eq on it's own with that matrix's own eq. The eq for the main L/R bus and the ones for each matrix are exactly the same. And just for the record, I learned all this right here watching Drew. 😆✌🤘

When I press utility on the X32, it takes me to the setup page on the Name/Icon Tab. Is there a setting to change this?

The UTILITY button shows different pages depending on which of the other buttons above it that are pressed. Try pressing HOME then press utility. You'll see a different page. If you have SETUP pressed, then yes, the name/icon tab shows up. The UTILITY has different functions for each button above it except for when the METER button is pushed. Doesn't do anything for that one button. Cheers

I love how my mic sounds at a church I sing at in the afternoons. Can I copy my mic channel for 1 Behringer x32 on a thumb drive and paste it on another Behringer x32 at another church?
@66fitton
@66fitton Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. There are a lot of options when it comes to stuff like that so watch a video or two on "snippets" and "scenes" , they usually cover the transfer of stuff between boards. The thing to know is that even if you have it saved on USB properly, each board has the ability to deny SPECIFIC parts of what you try and load into it. It's up to the owner of the board. I can let you load in a complete channel but deny you access to change parts of that channel. If I check certain boxes, you can't change that part of the channel. Gates, compressor and EQ can all be denied if those boxes are checked. I say all this so you don't think you did it wrong if it doesn't load right. You will need full access to change it all. Oh, and when you save it you have the same options. Make sure you save ALL the settings or you won't change everything when you transfer. It's potentially complicated, but not hard to do at all. Watch a few vids. Then take a USB and try it. Best way is to save it and reload it right away into a different channel right away. If everything transferred and it sounds the same, then you got it! Cheers
