Behzod Abduraimov plays Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 2

Now something from the other end of the spectrum.
Very few of us had the opportunity to watch Behzod Abduraimov play the 2nd Piano Concerto by Saint-Saëns last week with the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. So here's the next best thing: his performance at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia conducted by Mikhail Agrest. (Apologies for the glitch in the 2nd movement of the clip.)
Behzod Abduraimov will be touring China with the BSO next year, playing Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini. He will also be playing the 3rd Concerto by the same composer, and Beethoven's 5th Concerto down under, Beethoven's 2nd Concerto at the Concertgebouw, and Tchaikovsky's Concerto no. 1 in Tenerife. What an exciting year for this young pianist.

He is from my country, Uzbekistan which I am proud of. I was a student in France, at Bordeaux, and coincidentally he visited the city with his solo concert in 2014 (or 15), it was where I found out about him. I felt myself really happy attending his performance and being one of the hundreds enjoying every moment of it.

Behzod Abduraimov is absolutley amazing!!! I have listened and watched the greats perform since 1955. Gilels, Rubinstein, Horowitz, Serkin,and now Uchida,Barenboim, and Schiff. This young man is already a great one and will only become even greater with age and experience.

アンコールや演奏後のベフ様がお辞儀をされている間の正面チェロ奏者の男性二人、「彼の演奏はまったく素晴らしいな」「ああ、まったくだ…大した才能だよ」と会話されているように見えます。オーケストラ奏者も舌を巻いている様子ですね。。

I heard a solo recital by Abduraimov last week and it was truly most impressive. With all the hype in the press over Daniil Trifonov and Yuja Wang, both of whom are no doubt highly talented, it is hard to understand just how this remarkably gifted pianist has managed to stay under the radar all this time. He is at the least every bit their equal in talent and potential.

I heard Behzod Abduraimov playing this piece with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Vassily Sinaisky in Symphony Hall. I confess that I had not heard of him. The performance was absolutely superb and the highlight of the concert. He played Liszt's La Campanella as an encore - the audience was stunned into total silence for several seconds. An absolutely extraordinary experience.
