Beijing Half Marathon uproar: Kenyan says he let Chinese top runner win

The end of Sunday’s (April 14) 21km race caused uproar online as the leading runners appeared to let Chinese athlete He Jie overtake them.
Kenyan runner Willy Mnangat later admitted he let He win the Beijing Half Marathon, explaining that he did it “because he is my friend”.

The Africans weren't there to compete, they were hired as the pace makers so the Chinese guy could break a record but the Chinese guy was not able to maintain the pace set by them so he wasn't able to break the record. The organization messed up and signed them up, that's why they have numbers and names but they were not to be competing with anybody.
