As a 90's baby, I had my childhood in the early 2000s and teenage years in between the latest 2000s and early 2010s, and a lot of this I still remember, especially AIM, the usage of house phones, VHS tapes, and the cell phones. I was so jealous of my older brother because he was old enough to have an AIM account and the friends to communicate with. At the same time, I remember having an AOL kids page, and the dialup loading sound still echoes in my brain. My brother and I would argue because he wanted to go on the internet, but I wanted to talk on the phone with my friends. I would also play with my mom's purple-pink cellphone. My dad would record Powerpuff Girls and Lizzie McGuire marathons while I was at school. By the time I went to my first school dance in middle school, the glittery dresses were still popular. I miss my childhood. Now, as an almost 30 year old, I am still in denial that I am an adult and that those years flew by when, as a kid, they felt like time would drag. I realize I am always looking to the future when I should appreciate and live in the current moment.

I find it amazing that some of those trends haven't changed in some places. Since I live in the country in BF Egypt, high schoolers still have parties in fields and go mud bogging. I still see Seventeen Magazine displayed on grocery store shelves (despite its different layout and aesthetic - it still follows all of the current trends and contains celebrity interviews), and brands such as Proactive and St. Ives definitely remain popular as far as facial care products go (however, I notice how kids as young as 7 or 8 years old wanting to develop skin care routines like older teens. Kids seem to rush to become adults so early today, its scary. Some even look older than me 😱🙃😭).
