It's time for more authenticity and vulnerability online. Especially in martial arts.
Here's the martial artist I was talking about in the video. Thank you, Kobudo Kid, for posting your training videos and keeping it real online. You're doing great!

Thank you, Sensei, for being authentic! This is the truth we all need right now! The media and Hollywood are ultimately to blame for this idea of the "perfect" martial artist. It's good to see experienced martial artists like yourself call out the b.s. Osu!

I think you're absolutely right in this video. In fact, I think it could lead into another video, or maybe a series of videos of The Messy Training VS What People See. My first thought was to put some feelers out there to have people who are willing submit videos of their training where it's messy, they fail, they can't get it right, the exhaustion, the frustration, the many many attempts, then another video of them performing at a tournament or on stage or in public where it counts and they absolutely nail it. My second thought was to try to get feedback from other notable names in the industry on what their bad training days are like because not everyone gets it perfect every time. Good video.

We love your videos, dear Karate Shrimp. And you are rigth. There´s no perfect Martial Artists, cause actually there´s no perfect persons. So , we all are just trying to do our best, and have an honest and decent life, and learning karate or martial arts in the way. Your karate videos are so fun and usefull as well, so a i keep loking for them in KZbin. It was sensei Mabuni thats says once: " There´s not different karate stiles, but different people, with different bodies training and adapting karate to each one", so every person and every karate has it´s own rithm and development . I do practice Shotokan Karate, and you seem´s much more into Go Ju Ryu karate, but yet, it´s still the same dynamics and mechanic in all karate branches. Forget about those suckers who critizies you. You are doing well. A big hug and from your chilean followers. Greetings and keep being yourself. Oss ( And I apologize cause my english is quit limited yet) 🙂😉😊🥰☺😁🥋💯👍.

Yes, the valuable blooper reel of our training that humbles me & gives me laughter. I don't know how many times I've heard my sensei give the annnt sound lol yea I got/get mad, but it also fires me up & I get determined to dig deeper. I do cringe a bit when people comment on my Kata videos, but I also stopped caring. 98% of the time, I can never find my critics katas posted anywhere 🤷‍♀️ it takes bravery to post your work on the internet. Be fearless, not everyone can do it. I love this message ❤

Hey, I'm well thanks! I posted on my community tab about it before the weekend. I had a video planned, but the footage had a lot of issues. So I had to scrap it and wait for time to film again. I'll be uploading again this coming weekend. Thank you for reaching out! I do appreciate it. 😊🙏

I understand that the world of Martial Arts in Social Media has the same issues than other online communities: people who dare to show, and people who comment. All of us have been the second one but not everybody has the guts, the intention or the need to post their content online. Personally I love to learn from the different content spread here and there, and that's maybe because I'm 45yo and don't need to look for a "guru" but people who can help me through my Martial Arts journey. Not only needs to stick to the practical technique videos, all content is valuable as well. Your approach to set a mental frame to keep on training has been super valuable to me. Also Arizona Practical Karate dude at Instagram gives me a lot of light with his bunkai approach in the woods, etc... but I digress. Keep on working, because you are highly needed here!

Your words are a breathe of fresh air, succinct, and honest. Thank you! Regarding "training" I couldn't agree with you more and it led me to recall Bruce Lee's quote: "I fear not the man that practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man that practiced one kick 10,000 times." This could lead one to surmise that Lee knew that that one kick took 9,999 times of imperfection to get it "perfect". And his martial arts philosophy existed decades before social media. ~ peace. Eric.
