In a distracting world, being bored is the last thing most of us will ever face. But what if I tell you that being bored is the very thing that will put you ahead of 99% of people?

Man I was talking with my wife this week about this mindset, I’ve deleted all social media some time ago and these last weekdays on work I’m feeling very motivated to do the thing, go deep in the problems, fix everything, talk with people. Even my house is more clean, because like you said all those things it’s the hihglight of my day

There's something about these videos that makes it so hard to get through and watch to the end. What you're saying is making me think about fixing my problems, lose the non-stop dopamine train I've had from all the fun videos I've been watching all day, and my subconsciousness opens another video to keep the dopamine flow going. For hours on end I keep this tab open because I know I need to be watching it but it's hard to come back and finish the entire video. This is the weirdest sensation ever like I can feel two halves of my brain trying to battle it out.

Bro, you’re basically exactly who I use to be(and probably still am if left to my vices). Im not gonna lie bro, when you’re that deep in the meta verse, it’s going to be extremely hard to free yourself from that. One thing I know for sure is that if you decide to take the steps to free yourself (no matter how small), you will make progress. Stick with it bro, and don’t burn yourself out. Don’t try to quit everything all at once because I promise you’ll be back worse than before.

I’m so grateful the algo sent me your way. I’ve been aware I’ve been KZbin/phone addicted for awhile. Quitting IG & FB was easy but losing YT is gonna be a challenge. However I really believe I’m ready to get off this ride & try more of real life. Seeing you do it lets me know it’s possible for me too!

I honestly thought that this channel would be like an Andrew Tate-type of alpha-sigma-gamma male mentality, but its not and its such a gem. I have to 100% agree with most of your points, and I have even experienced this myself, in mid-2021, when covid lockdown was still (semi-)ongoing in my country, I had already played every game multiple times through and even the ones I pirated I had finished several times over [you can probably guess why I had so much time from 2020-21], now bored with nothing better to do, I just decided to take up art. I got okay-ish at drawing, I learned the basics of blender from blenderguru, bought a udemy course and learned that, took up learning another software as well, did some very minor projects with those software, and I remember that I was so happy with those (even if they looked like shit), because I was at least learning something new with every failure/overlook/fault and then after december 2021.... well lockdown ended, and with that ended all those things too. Got occupied with school, thought that it took too much time to learn new stuff, so I just defaulted to playing games in my spare time again, and then my mental state plummeted. Now, I am 18, doing shit at school but trying to improve nonetheless. 2023 just hasn't been my year, some (quite a lot) of the faults were mine alone, a few were out of my hands. And this video (and quit social media vid) really helped me realize I should probably get back into this, both studies + learning. Picked up reading again; started studying semi-properly again; blocked quora, reddit, instagram, twitter, even blocked youtube shorts; installed apps on my phone and extensions on my laptop browser that help me combat against essentially, brain rot from doom-scrolling; picked up guitar again; started cycling. I am not in the absolute best mental state rn (got 2 months to give an exam which has the entire syllabus of which I have prepared nothing for lol) but I am trying to get it back on track. tldr ; Love the vids, keep it up, some sage advice here, I agree with this vid as I can relate heavily ❤

Yo dude, great video! Recently discovered this for myself. The value of boredom is understated, in our world of quick-fix dopamine hits. Boredom is like eating healthy-if you eat junk food, you're never hungry for the real nutritious foods. However, if you cut out the junk, you begin to develop a real, sustainable appetite for the nutritious stuff. It's not as exciting or satiating at first, sure, but after a while, it becomes filling. Being bored-staring at a wall in the evening instead of playing on the phone, reading, playing the guitar, etc, will recharge your passions. Can't recommend enough!

Its a bit more than that. When we're overstimulated, doing things in the real world that are helpful to us just seems less appealing as they give us a smaller dopamine shot. So we're overall less motivated to even try. And when we do end up doing things out of obligation, it just doesn't feel good. On the other hand, if we stay away from high dopamine activities, we can actually feel good about doing difficult tasks. Because hey, the brain is supposed to reward us for every obstacle we overcome in the world. The brain has been trying to help us all along. So lets give it tasks and obstacles that are actually worth spending time on. Being curious about seeing what next tiktok or reel we are gonna watch is simply not that important of a task to reward ourselves on.

felt like this ended up on my recommended page for a reason, and I'm grateful! i am intrigued by how i can implement this, especially with one of my main love languages being spending quality time, and with reframing there are a couple ways to think about it - 1. this is another avenue of opportunity for me to give myself that quality time that can make me a better person, to then make the world a better place too, and 2. it can help with working towards even more of a secure attachment style/complex, especially when it comes to how our mindset is when we are looking forward to as well as when we actually are spending quality time with our loved ones to begin with, and focusing on our stimulations there. it's good to feel emotions, nevertheless the aspect of stimulation is very important to consider when processing and regulating them, and maintaining ourselves. what an insightful perspective, thank you for sharing your wisdom and mind with us all, and sending good vibes

I am really interested in this problem! I'm going into my final semester of college, and looking back, I realize I spent large amounts of time on KZbin, more than I'd like to admit! I'm curious if there is a way to redesign our relationships with our phones to prevent people from falling into the trap of doom scrolling. I'm working on developing a mobile app that might help someone moderate their phone use. I'm curious what others think, are there any features on your phone that could help you moderate your phone use other than what is already provided?
