Hiya just came out of basic. I am in my early 20s at 1:37 I completely agree I have friends but they are not as close. I agree it sucks but it's just a matter of going out and doing things that you love. Maybe joining a soccer league or a football league. I don't completely agree that gen z is anti-social. I think some of it has to come from being inside playing video games instead of being outside and making those connections at a young age. I'm not too worried about inflation or retirement that stuff will work itself out as long as you invest right off the bat 5% to 10% of your paycheck every month for the time in service you should come out with plenty of money at the end. I'm not even concerned about war right now. 4:11 100%. I completely agree with your point in the video it's just a matter of having a good outlook on life. at the end of the video you say keep your body clean. That's even good though. I feel unhealthy habits are a bad lifestyle.

TLDR: People are the worst in the military I know because im in the active side. If you want more details on the story. Ask i can go for days. Let me tell you right now it completely depends on your job and your co-workers/chain of command, now im in the air force I know what people are thinking chair force this best stuff that, NO. You have never been more wrong in your life the barracks/dorms have mold, you sleep with spiders on your curtains because the dorm manager refuses to do anything. Reasoning: too much work or its a stupid reason. Not to mention the thermostat doesn't work. Now this is my experience and this was in 2019 basic training and tech school I loved. But my specialty just covers basic knowledge everything else is OJT. So my first supervisor said to me VER BATIM: "Im just here for a paycheck if you want to make BTZ im here but if not even better" So ofc I thought theres always one person. But this is a long story short basically 90% of the people I work with or rather used to work with worked harder trying to do the least amount of work. Yeah im sure some closed minded mf is already assuming "oh hes just a dirtbag" wrong. I have been in 5 years and I had a government job on an army base (Bragg) for 3 prior to joining. I know how things are SUPPOSED to be running. In my experience in the air force I was recorded in the dorm parking lot by my peers, I was alienated by my so called mentors due to jealousy so much the first sargeant had to get involved. 2 to 3 years later I got tired of breaking my back coming in at 3 AM (I am day shift) to fix my own shop because theres a trash NCOIC who is literally in his 30s MILENNIAL. Who is on tik tok with his feet up on his desk every time i come back from working or fixing the air forces facility. My experience in my 2A job is that people are lazy, vindictive, jealous, and lack self esteem, and are literally the worst kinds of people I have ever met in my life. I have been told I have the resiliency of a freakin rock, but let me tell you it doesnt get better. That is a lie. In my experience. They don't take new people seriously, I have said the same things when I first got to my base and no one took me seriously. I was in for 5 taking every kind of abuse you can think of minus the physical. I couldnt so anything but shut up and work by myself due to people ATTEMPTING to set me up for failure in return I became good at my job, but everyone else hated me or envied me. 5 years later im getting an honorable discharge with an admin sep because there are people who actually care here. Its also my 3rd commander and 6th first sargeant. So I got very lucky.

@@UhhIdontknow Omg that is sad. I am in the army at AIT rn am noticing the dirtbag mentality that people don't care. I am hoping I don't have to deal with that stuff. Personally, I don't tolerate it. I am gonna be working my but off at my first unit I just hope I don't get discharged cause I ant this to be at least a 10-year career for me.

I kinda disagree. Being older makes it easier to identify who the real friends are. They may have kids, and their own career, but they still check in on you and call you and make plans to meet up. Id rather have 2 or 3 of those versus 20 people who want to hangout everyday but won't be there when you need help.

As a prior enlisted officer, I genuinely disliked being enlisted, when I commissioned I realized it’s same thing, just a different pay grade. Being in the Military is nothing short of a sacrifice that doesn’t get enough praise or recognition anymore. All this to say, for everyone past and present that has served God bless you and thank you, you are important and you matter.

Currently 22, been AD Army for the last 5 years, and I agree with most of what you've said. It helps to make sure you're not actively alone all of the time. If you have chances to socialize, take them. Get your name and face out there. People start relying on people they see often, and once you become helpful to others, they'll become helpful to you. Law of Causality.

Never be that guy who just stays in the barracks all the time. I tried to get out more when I was at Drum, but I was underage for the bars and I got placed in S3 straight out of basic rather than being placed in a line unit (which is much more tight knit and typically more welcoming usually). The guys in S3 were all anti-social loners who didn’t want to go do anything or have any fun. Go out and explore, safely, and find something to do on the weekends to keep your mind active. It’s too easy to sit inside on the weekends and just do nothing because maybe you’re a bit worn out. But hopping in the car and driving around the Adirondack park or going to A-Bay is a great way to decompress and stimulate your mind, and create some good memories. And you’ve all got to overcome that anxiety. When I was a young private I had the worst anxiety, and that’s just something that I think the army causes to happen, or just takes that pre-existing condition and makes it so much worse. Build up confidence, take college classes on the side with TA, and get out there. That’s everything I wish I had done while in service.

I think why most struggle with transitioning back to society is because they’ve been a component of group for so long. I definitely recommend either going to school and join a student veterans organization to help build that camaraderie outside the military, or if school isn’t on the radar as of yet, I would try volunteer work for your community or a special cause, you’ll meet great people through both of these, as you transition back and find your common ground.

Is the Air Force the best branch?
@golfery5119
@golfery5119 Жыл бұрын
The best things about the Army is that supposedly our recruiters work the fastest to get you in because the Army is more about quantity over quality. An Air Force recruiter might be more standoffish with you especially if you make too low of an ASVAB score. You'll notice a tradeoff in the differences after you join. The Army is said to be "the only branch that guarantees you your MOS" ....... not telling you that depending on the type of unit you get assigned to after AIT, which you have no control over, you might rarely if ever get to actually do your MOS (that's if your MOS can be done at all. Obviously you would never actually DO a combat MOS like infantry unless we were actually at war). As a result a lot of soldiers wind up spending their time in a motorpool where they are emptying and repacking connexes (storage sheds) all day. I asked people in the Air Force do they do the same thing and none of them understood what I was talking about, and said they actually do their AFSC's (what they call MOS). Also if someone tells you about the Army "it's what you make of it" ...... *keep in mind that only goes so far* You CAN'T make yourself, if you're not married, get out the barracks before the rank of E6 or "maybe might maybe depending" E5. Everyone in the military, because it's the military, has to do physical fitness training in addition to PT tests....... However, a lot of people in the Air Force, are trusted to be adults, and keep up their own physical fitness..... in the Army, in most cases, it is mandatory that you go somewhere early in the morning in the cold and you'll not only be doing PT but you'll be doing a special type of organized PT unique to the Army called "PRT" which looks pretty silly and you'll be doing this just about if not everytime you do PT....... You can't decide for yourself what you want to do for PT in most cases in the Army unless you're a high rank or officer. So.... you can't make yourself out of that. You can't make yourself get out of going to the field and shitting in the woods for weeks or a month at a time, with no cell phone or internet service to communicate with your family (someone in the Air Force might go on a temporary duty assignment, but guaranteed in their off time they are going to have some Internet/cell data access to communicate with their family). You can't make yourself get out of a long ruck march. Apparently the Air Force is not completely free of ruck marches, but it would be a safe bet that most Air men don't do as many as soldiers do. In Army during AIT you'll be treated more like a kid compared to the other branches. The other branches don't have to be marched around EVERYWHERE and have to have "battle buddies" come with them to the bathroom whereas Army does. Can't make yourself out of that. Etc. Etc. Etc. So if anybody tells you the Army "is what you make of it" keep in mind that saying is usually code for "this shit does suck more for no reason" *TL/DR We can't outright tell you that the Air Force is better..... but............ ummmmm........ **-yeah-*

Great edit with the Discord fade in. Good stuff. I thought in my 20s I would be enjoying the changes I've made in my late teens and to cherish those changes and enjoy the little things in life. It wasn't so. Life is too short. Just too damn short. I'm not sure what the rest of my 20s will entail. Just take it a day at a time, I guess.

Im 20, 10 months into the navy and yeah I’ll say I’m lonely only have two people I’ll actually call friends. It’s mainly because I don’t fit in with most people my age like I enjoy basketball, working out and playing the game while most just drink and party😒.Welp go on deployment tomorrow, I’ll try to make workships that’ll hopefully turn into friendships. Hopefully it’s alright only a 3 month deployment, I plan on reading multiple books and getting my artistic skills back on point.

@@mohammedlawal6238 the military is frigging depressing after you've been in for a few years. I think the army (and also the marines since the marines are most similar to the army) can be worse. @Kamil15158 I admit I'm one of the people that crumbled. My time in the army hasn't been the best and Ive been seeing behavioral health lately. My contract is up in two years, and unless something crazy happens that makes me feel like I HAVE to stay (if they even let me stay) - like say a kid pops up (not too sure when I'm going to get the opportunity to do what has to be done for that to even happen) and I couldn't find a job on the outside and I feel I HAVE to stay and do another contract so i could support the kid and the mother and have medical benefits for them - best believe I do plan on getting out. And if I had anything else to do with the military it'll be for reserve/guard and even then, if possible, it WILL be Air Force, NOT the Army. Even though the Air Force has problems and isn't perfect, I am SICK of the extra "hoah" nonsense of the Army that is ON TOP of the standard military nonsense and work politics.

It is difficult to make friends in the US unlike coming from the Caribbean where its so easy to get a vibe with other Caribbean people. So I just turned 22 I spent the last four years playing video games and relaxing, I know war with foreign powers looms over us but so I want to join the military; mostly because staying inside all the time sucks I wish I was gen x it would suck cause I’m trans but not having the internet would be so much better having friends who cared even monetarily or just so they had someone to play arcade with would have been so much more fun nowadays my gen x parents were afraid to let me outside, because when they were kids they were way more social and but peer pressure was actually dangerous and they lost friends right in front of their eyes, but if my friends left this world I would never even know because the social networks in my rown only consist of church goers. So I guess my life could be better, I how I make it into the military nothing is more important to me right now.

I don’t care how irrelevant this is here, cause the importance is greater than the relevance, but ima ask this really important question for anyone here, whether you have faith (in God) or not. When you die, do you think you’re going to heaven or to hell? If you think hell or you don’t believe, just stick around. God’s gospel (his good news to the world) doesn’t end at condemnation but brings mercy in accordance with God’s requirement for absolute justice. But if you think heaven, why? Is it because you live a good life? Cause let me show you an analogy of what it’s like if God were to let you into heaven by your good works: you are a doctor and you’ve saved hundreds of lives but you go to a bar one night and you screw around and get violent and end up killing a man. Days go by and you’re in front of the judge, about to make testimony. You tell the judge that he should acquit you because you’re a doctor and you’ve saved a hundred lives. The judge looks at you insane and deems it not valid. Now im not saying you’re murderers, but in God’s perfect judgment- you are!!! Unjust or or even frivolous hatred of anybody is murder, to give you a taste of God’s standard of moral perfection. This analogy demonstrates that God can’t let you into heaven by your good works. You need perfection to get into heaven, and no man has that. The Bible, and aswell as our conscience, tells us that “none is righteous” and that we’ve all broken God’s law thats been written in our hearts. But God in his great love, didn’t make us for hell, he made us to live with him and for us to worship him and enjoy his presence. And he is a just God, so he demands penalty for sin, which is death (i.e., hell/eternal punishment) to cover the eternal offense of sin. So he in his love, wanting us to be made right with him, and demanding justice and payment of sins, agreed to send his eternal Son down to earth. He was made into a man and he lived the sinless perfect life, which God requires. And he died for ALL of our sins on that cross. And he rose again on the 3rd day. If you’ll simply believe (aka trust) on him for your salvation, you receive what he possesses and merits and has merited (eternal life, sinlessness, perfection in God’s eyes) and you have received it justly because in Christ is the payment of all sins. This is called imputation. By believing ON his Son Jesus Christ, God’s righteousness is imputed to us, and our sins are imputed to him and they are washed and absolutely absolved because he paid for them by his death on the cross. And get this, the life which is in God’s Son is EVERLASTING meaning it never ends. And it is our spirit which inherits it, not our flesh. So the works of our flesh will never get us unsaved. The works of our life will determine not our salvation, but our rewards at the judgment seat of Christ. If someone is saved (simply by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ) and his works are nasty, he is still saved. 1 Corinthians 3:15 “But if any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire” Salvation is by faith alone because first of all the bible says so (ephesians 2:8-9) and because you possess the substance of what your faith is in. For example if you put your faith into a stock by investment, you possess whatever that stock contains. So if you will, say this prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, I am a sinner. And I believe and trust on you alone to save my soul. I believe you died for ALL my sins. And I believe you rose again on the 3rd day. Amen” Welcome to the family of God brother or sister 🙏✝️

31 now and been active the whole time since 2012 this is a “issue” with multiple angles. The Junior guys now are definitely less social and it’s understandable. They have lived their entire lives with cellphones and cushy things living in relative safe places. A lot of them don’t have life skills essentially raising themselves while their parents worked to provide for them. On the other hand the military especially over here (navy) has become so ass. Upper chain is so detached from their people that they just dish out work with zero concern for the mental stability and health of their people. They have nothing to say unless something is wrong. Misery loves company. A lot of these E-7 and above are miserable and make no secret about the fact they have no work/life balance. I’ve had several of them flat out say my wife ain’t here or I’m divorced and home bored so we can be here all day. It’s extremely selfish and toxic. Most of them need to retire and get actual lives rather then causing havoc on the ranks.

More like an Extrovert problem. Not being military in any formal sense unfortunately, is my dream job, but because i live in a hostile country in Southern Africa where institutions like the military are mostly just militants with little to no standards, and usually politically captured, we got a death toll and general violence higher than that of the current war in Ukraine. So from when i was old enough to train, was learning from actual Veterans while on the Job. Theres no war, but it's just violence perpetuated by government corruption that ultimately ruined the nation, poverty went up due to job loss thus high crime with the police also being useless, captured and generally corrupt. Africa, nothing new. So the private sector basically steps in, better trained, better equipped, and we work mostly alone, for days on end. Now if your someone who prefers company, thats your problem, but anyone used to being a loner, being alone is when you are at your best. Overall, you lot have it easy. Americans dont actually understand the concept of hardship. But of course, when you live in such a well off country all your life, of course anything abnormal will seem alot more to you than say someone like myself, born in a hostile, unstable environment with no certainty of anything.

I think the issue here is that there’s just more chance that a Gen Z is going to be one of these valueless, nihilistic modern shitheels who’ve long been hijacked, sometime since birth, by iPads and porn and sugar and media.

It’s a joke at this point. I was in the marine corp for a year before I sold some liquor to a kid and I strangled my roommate so they kicked me out. During the pandemic too so it was all locked down once I got to my MOS school. I really bought into the hype, and I think physical fitness and structure is good for kids, but the people are just completely moronic teenage kids without any values and you really think you’re going to be changed or feel different… but it really just gives kids a huge ego and they get burnt out easy because nothing is really enjoyable after bootcamp. I definitely think it’s on full display here. Gone are the days of actually just doing your job; kids have to be enlisted and make a KZbin channel or a fucking Tik Tok and basically embarrass themselves and their command 24/7. I remember sitting down to duty one day and the officer on deck was making Tik Toks. This dude had to be like 5 or 6 years older than me too. Very very disturbing world we live in- and you’re only gonna find more of it in any service branch. Remember how you joined to fix your fragile ego? Now we’re gonna put you in a city full of people just like you and see what happens. That’s basically what you get. It’s not an issue with the military, it’s young bourgeois kids who consume too much media and have limited life experiences suddenly having responsibilities and expectations and their brains hit the floor like a sack of potatoes.

Hi, just found your channel with recent info about joining the military. (most are several years old) Thank you very much 😊 I have a question to ask, not about myself, but about my grandson. He will be 18 in November, and will graduate high school in June of 24. He has already enlisted, passed physical, and has been to MEPS and passed the ASVAB. He has signed his contract. He is going to his BCT at Ft Moore, Ga July 1, 2024. My question is: he is a very introverted. He has always wanted to be in the Army, serve his country. Is there anything that I can do meanwhile, to help him overcome some of this? I'm just a very concerned grandparent. I support him emotionally as much as I can. His parents are divorced and he hasn't seen his mom in years. His dad and I live with him. His dad and I support his decision to have a military career. Any advice would help. Thank you

Proud of my country, not my generation. I’ll be in the Army in less than a year.

Glad to see you’re still posting, I found your videos when I first started rotc. Now, I am commissioned and ship out for BOLC in October. It’s interesting you made this video because this was something that was on my mind. 2 minutes in and I already liked the video. Sometimes you just gotta Charlie Mike, best of luck to you.
