love seeing a more personal editorial video about SoT. in-game self-expression is an especially interesting topic for a sandbox game like Sea of Thieves, and you tackled it well. it's always a pleasant surprise when we encounter crews who are flying the pride flag out of actual, well, pride lol so do it up!

As someone who's Ace and a longtime fan of Rare, I'm so thankful that Rare are truly committed to supporting the LGBTQ community unlike other companies like Bethesda. Unfortunately I've still witnessed plenty of Racist and Homophobic comments on this game, just like every other Xbox Live game. I saw a video the other day by a youtuber named GGgolden where a twitch streamer was accusing people of hack's and calling people the F slur on Livestream, that video really opened my eyes as to how horrible people can be on this game. My solution to fix this issue would be to add a link to the Support page on the menu. Additionally, Rare could add an AI powered voice moderation system to Sea of Thieves, Similar to games like Overwatch and Call of Duty. The AI would monitor the Voice chat and If it detects any Slurs or offensive language it will automatically create a report and send the transcripts to a human moderator for review.

we all know that players take the pride flag as a provocation that the person flying it is toxic, or a little kid who throws slurs at you if you just move finger, or a sweaty player who will sink you in seconds. I think that the flag isnt used in game as the devs intend it to be used.

I support people who fly this flag and whatever, it’s just that in my experience whenever me and my crew come across someone flying this flag for some reason they are always toxic adults.. one time I came across a sloop with two 25 yo women on it and they were trash talking me the whole time even though they were in an alliance with me they were like “you sound like a baby you don’t know anything” even though one of them was new 💀 I just have a bad experience with people who fly this flag, but sometimes I guess it’s nice. People just gotta let lgbtq people do what they want and not get mad at them for being themselves. The only time I don’t like lgbtq people is when they rub it in my face that they are gay or whatever and make me appreciate who they are, even though I don’t care what they identify as.

@@milkyteasotyeah. I love your idea of adding more pride flags. I love flying the rainbow flag because it’s rainbow colored, not because I’m lgbtq. I think if they added more lgbtq flags it would make a lot of people happy and hopefully put down some of the toxicity. They also just gotta work on ending all toxicity and not focus solely on the lgbtq community, because it’s not just them that face toxicity. But I love this video and your ideas are great.

@@milkyteasot yeah, toxicity imo is one of the biggest issues in Sea of Thieves. Just yesterday I missed a board on a brig full of skeletons and they kept trash talking me saying it was ez and I’m bad and I suck and saying a bunch of slurs, and this is the reason the game is dying I think

I’ve been flying the rainbow flag every play session for over an year (280h) cause I’m lbqtia+🏳️‍🌈. Thankfully I’ve never met someone using the flag for hate speach. But I will proudly fly the rainbow flag 🏳️‍🌈. And we need more pride flags😊. Amazing video!❤

Both honestly, most players see it as a sign your going to be toxic cause of the amount of trolls who use it. And those who fly it for pride are often met with the same toxicity.

the person suffers both, they are cursed at because either people dont like it, they think they are trolls or will be toxic to them so generally in the sea of thieves the safest way to approach a pride flag ship is assume they are hostile & try to sink them before they sink you.

You are one of the nicest and most helpful person I ever met and worked with in Sea of Thieves, and anyone who treats you or any other nice LGBTQ+ member can go to hell in my book. And I do know how bad it can be out there. A while ago I had encounters where some players would harass those who actualy had the pride flag as a symbol. Since then me and my crew would occasionaly drip our ship in pride colors just to see who could come after us for that, and then absolutely destroy and embarrass them. Showing those people their place was really satisfying.

Unfortunately I think that toxic people are going to be toxic. I'm a straight white guy and I get every slur imaginable yelled at me. I can't tell you how many times the N word, hard R, has been yelled at me. Unfortunately trolls will be trolls. We just have to learn to shrug things off and keep going with our lives. I hate to say it, but there will always be trolls hoping that you'll react negatively.

I haven't seen anybody fly the pride flag in game for hate purposes, but I have seen many people go out of their way to sink anybody using the flag just out of hatred. Rare really does need to add a way to report people for what they say in game.

nah not out of hatred, thats a common excuse from the people who get sunk, sometimes its true and the people that sink them are homohpobes or whatever the new word is HOWEVER me & my crews will go out of our way to sink anyone in our vicinity because we need supps for hg and people might have loot or emissary flags. all are valid sinking reasons + its a pirate game, sinking people is fun especially with how mad people get. Furthermore since more than half the gay flag flyers are trolls we generally sink them and get screeched at that we are homophobes for daring to attack them or we are f*cking loser c*nts who should K*ll ourselfs and go touch grass. Its SOT people are going to be toxic any way that they can because IRL they are weak human beings quiet when things go down they keep their head down but then they get behind a screen and all of the suddent they are some insane badazz you just have to beat then at their own game which usually consists of just wasting all their time you can and then leaving. If they are bugging you that bad there is a block option but its also a pirate game not a sailing simulator and pirates arent known for being caring nice people. But that is the online world and you just have to learn to work around it if your going to be spending hours in it.

I always fly the rainbow flag because it's important to me that we take this back as ours and not to be seen as some randoms who want to be aggressive like this. And as someone who is targeted for using the flag, I enjoy sinking and reporting them because they decided to come after someone who was doing nothing to do them.
