DrHeavenly Theres HUNDREDS of copies of this joke. At this point its lost all comedic value. Its not funny in the first place when the creator spends so long crafting these magnificent videos and such interesting lore and people make jokes about it. The jokes arent even the worst part, its the fact that you take something out of context. It doesnt even MEAN attractiveness, yet everyone makes jokes that it does. It takes away from the effort that the creator put in. He even addressed this in his process video, how alot of people misunderstood his take on the 'uglies'. They are also just silly jokes that target people with poor self esteem. this is why i love fictional dystopian stories. the giver, the maze runner, this short film, they all give a sense of totalitarianism and it's so interesting to me because of the manipulation that the higher ups conduct... it's so disheartening and the sheer horror is terrifying to me it's like a computer system, these people are all assigned a task, and they HAVE to do that task, and if not then somethings off. so: elimination and then people won't care because they're taught that it's okay to have someone else that's not in line being eliminated and then people forget and it's normal ah yes, the manipulation of the masses, classic dystopian stories. it's so cool but so horrifying

It's not that far off. At least in Austria, a first world country on Europe, you are still given the look for being unemployed, no matter the reason. i feel like i have an idea what this film is actually about. it talks about the “pretty” people, intending that they are “perfect” and the “ugly” people as “imperfect”. the pretty people keep their masks after they grow up to hide their imperfections so they wouldn’t be intended as “ugly” or not perfect. the people who are “ugly” are the ones who TRIED putting up a mask failed miserably and showed their true colors (imperfections). the robot judges you based on your appearance. if you’re not shown to the world and you’re a mystery, you’re pretty. if you fail to put on an act, you’re ugly.

I think it's about human rights for every human being no matter if you fit into the 'typical mainstream expectations'. It's a warning how a society can end if you put up a social system where you are only valuable if you fit into those expectations (one of the most horrible examples was nazi Germany, with killings of retarded people, of Jews and many more 'unwanted' groups of people). The 1st one is social reality that you take part in and the second one is the average opinions of others, imagine 3 people arguing for a colour: let's say it is red. 1 of them states that it is red, but the other 2 state that it is dark orange, and for years everyone tells this 1 person that this colour is dark orange, not red and now when someone asks this person what is this colour they state "it is dark orange". Years pass by and this person who was convinced by the social realities that they take part in on daily basis that this is how this colour is named. Then this same person meets someone young who says that this colour is red and they explain to them that infact it is "dark orange", and the cycles continues. So this is how social reality shapes other people opinions. If someone is taking part in social media platforms, where most people state what the criteria for beauty should be and that someone spends most of their time on such platforms, than slowly but surely "the average opinions of this social reality" becomes reality for this person as well.
