I'm a little confused is this a biopic where you play Robin Williams? Or is it about another guy who THINKS he is Robin Williams?
@MrRobertroos
@MrRobertroos 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking . There was a period in this guy's life, when he felt taken over by Robin Williams spirit. He's bi-polar so the doctors said "delusional" but it seemed very real. The guy is me.

@@MrRobertroosWhat are your thoughts on the lawsuit Robin Williams filed against Michael Clayton? It seems you’re doing something similar to Clayton. Not sure Robin Williams would approve. Robin Williams also evolved tremendously over his career, both as an actor and a stand up comedian. The impressionists tend to hyper focus on things like Mork and Doubtfire.

@@BumpyHumpyDumpy When you see the film you will realize how different this is than the Michael Clayton situation. Clayton was sued because his handlers misrepresented an event involving a fundraiser and people were fooled into thinking Robin was really going to be there. This is a very different story. If you watch the trailer , you will see uit has much more to do with a mystery around a spiritual esperience and or a delusionalal episode involving a man with bipolar. ok? BTW I contacted members of Robin"s family before the film was made, explaining what this was about.

I will definitely see this but my first reaction as a bipolar comic actor myself is that this is an elaborate way to self-medicate the cognitive dissonance that your stand-up comedy career was not working out. You may still win a rightful Oscar here so lemme explain: You have a bunch of on-the-nose sort of cheeky and safe celebrity impressions in your old act which was going nowhere: DeVito, Pacino, Leno / the usual cruise ship comic set. That wasn’t working for you. So you tried Method Acting here. Which is fine. It works effectively although you’ve discovered its frequent side effects: mental health delusions and unsustainability. Those are good lessons. You could still win the Oscar but the ethical gap arises where this movie is being marketed as US being ableist if we don’t honor your delusion/conceit. I mean, these aren’t live takes. This isn’t a documentary. Every shot was planned and setup. Just like this marketing rollout.

Johnny, Thanks for your insight. You have a brilliant mind and you are a terrific performer. I wasn't going to answer this at all, but I want to create a bridge of understanding. I had dropped out of the entertainment world due to a bad drug problem and mental illness. I never intended to return. When Robin died, people urged me to do a tribute act. I refused over and over. I didn't want to have anything to do with this. But finally I caved, because I felt Robin stirring, urging me to do this work. I was devistated at Robin's passing, and this work is the result of whatever passed through me.. It felt very real. I was driven to somehow document this happening , both the live show and then through this film. You dont have to honor me, my "delusion", or the conceit. I honor your opinion.I am open to all opinions. But please know this was the reslt of spontainious events, and much of what happened is very uncripted. Some recreated yes. And It was set up so we could explore, not exploit. I loved Robin. I have worked my ass off for six years because I hear over and over that this film is unique and touching. I want to share it. Coming soon.....

@@MrRobertroos , I'm looking Fwd to seeing it. You very well may win the Oscar and I expect your performance to be great. The problem I see ethically is that you want to have it both ways. There is no doctor on the planet who would advise you to RECREATE a psychotic break as part of your Art Therapy or Professional Life-- not any responsible mental health professional. Here's a question. When did, "I am robin" end and "I should RECREATE this experience on film where I think I'm Robin" begin? How did you separate the two concepts on set without demanding that the crew play along?

@@jonnybigmuff I never actually thought I was Robin. It felt like he was experiencing life through me. I felt possessed. And detached. I was behaving like him, frequently involentarily, like a puppet. especially on stage. And in front of the camera. I would , while shooting, get out of the way and allow myself to be a vehical for his behavior and mindset.. But it is still largely to me , a mystery. I am not out to prove anything , and there was no guidance from a pysch doctor, other than a healthy daily dose of Depacote. Have you had similar experiences? And I made no demands on the crew. They were just recording what happened.

@@MrRobertroos - thanks for sharing the process. I'm still trying to understand where the line of Possessed vs. Pretend was clear to you and everyone else vs where the Acting began? Scenario 1: you possessed and performing as Robin disassociatively w/ "Robin" thru you - they film this while you are under duress. 2) You recreating those moments much later - after a pitch meeting and a script and a breakdown and a Line Producer and locations and preprod etc ... a lot of planning -- for a film crew. So we are either entertaining your Method or this is a staged recreation of something that requires our conspiracy w/ you. No?

@@jonnybigmuff No pitch meeting, barely a script exept what was living inside me, And events on cue cards, and later worked out in editing throughn narration. It is a very indie production . I hired a crew who know how to light and shoot. I step in and improvise a scene with friends who can be real with me, playing roles , some who had experienced these events with me and could work with me when it got wild. Some of thre material was archival footage of me on stage and being interviewed.when his spirit emerged on its own. i will explain more if you would like , please contact me rogerkabler@gmail.com. I would like to get to know how you work too.

Please remember that Robin Williams sued Michael Clayton for impersonating him and copying his act. I highly doubt he would come back to endorse the exact activity he sought to prevent. There is and will only ever be one Robin Williams. True artists find their own voices.
