As usual, a lifesaver lesson for me! I find your format (Short sentences, audio, pinyin, characters, and Eng subtitles) the fastest to learn and remember. I have a little request.. Could you also make a survival Chinese video on directions? For example, walk down three floors using the escalator to get to the mall's lobby, etc. 谢谢 老师

*TOO FAST?* Control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video *5% at a time* on *desktop computers and laptops* OR *25% at a time* on *smartphones!* Access the playback speed controls as follows: *Desktop Computers and Laptops:* open the video, then go to the *lower right* of the video's screen and click on the *settings icon* (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link *"custom".* Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time. *Smartphones:* open the video and go to the *upper right* of the video's screen. You will see *3 dots.* Click on them and you will see the link to open the *"playback speed"* controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you *greater control* over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones).

Any plans for Mandarin Corner videos with coronavirus, COVID0-19 specific phrases and vocabulary? I have been a monthly subscriber (different ID) for almost 2 years now. Your materials are always great resources. Thank you and your partner for all the helpful videos, pdfs!!!

No, Dawai Ni. These topic have already been done numerous times by other channels so so we see no point in repeating them. We do feel very strongly about this horrible event that has overtaken the world but the conversation might get into "sensitive" areas, so we refrain. Maybe later we might cover a different aspect of this experience if we feel the content will be unique, informative and not a repetition of the same lessons already seen on KZbin.

First, I want to thank you for all of your fantastic videos & pdfs! As an older lady trying to learn Chinese on her own; these phrases in particular will be extremely helpful. 😊 I have a question on #21: why do you have ”一点” in this sentence? Is it used as a “measure word”? Thanks again and I’ve subscribed both here and on the website. 😊
@MandarinCorner2
@MandarinCorner2 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Elaine! No, it is not used as measure word. It is more of a way to indicate that the person making the request is not a demanding individual. He/she is reasonable and just wants a dentist who is a "little bit" good... better than average.

Mandarin Corner 非常感谢r你的帮助。我还有很多要学! 😂. Actually, it’s nuances like this one that get me confused when I’m trying to read articles-or “Level 1” books. But, I suppose every language has its nuances and quirks, especially English. 😊

In one one the sentences you say, wo qu yiyuan ma? Only i was told not to say, wo qu together without something between them as this is equivalent to swearing in God's name... (Told this more than once... Explain).
@MandarinCorner2
@MandarinCorner2 4 жыл бұрын
我去 this two characters together without anything else after, is a swearing phrase and is one that young Chinese people commonly use. For example, if I miss my train, I might say "wo qu" to myself or to a friend if there is one, as I am upset about the situation and it's almost like saying "damn" in English. If you watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/enLMc2h9rbiWfpY at 2:25 in that video, Sophie used this phrase because I laughed when I was not supposed to.

@MandarinCorner2
@MandarinCorner2 6 жыл бұрын
The Survival Chinese Videos Series are meant for upper level beginners and low intermediate so we want the speech to be slower than normal. You can always use the KZbin speed control to speed up the videos you feel are too slow. Also, we have MANY videos spoken at normal speed.
