If you Orthodox Christians haven't read The Path to Salavation by St. Theophan The Recluse, please do so. Mine is from St. Paisius Monestary Arizona, translated by Hieromonk Seraphim Rose !!! I'm reading it now. Please read this book. What the Father is talking about now is also in the book. In Christ's Love.☦

Being spiritual is hard work. The new agers just wish to smudge sage and rub agates over their chakras and call it a day. There is a race for the imperishable crown, and they, fattened on their own delusions, will not even cross the starting line, let alone its finish. God bless you all, in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I think true spirituality is simple. It means to be led by the Spirit in all things. If we’re not led by the Spirit then we are not spiritual.

For me a spiritual life is a life centred on the spirit and spirit is another name for God.

Remember if the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and is glorified together with the Son (Holy Telos), can move the Waters of Creation, then also contemplate what Water means in many contexts of Creation (i.e. more than just H2O). Think of things that flow like water whether it be blood or information and contemplate how The Holy Lord moves in these things as through the Prophets.

Also never forgot the Real Personhood of the Trinity. Treat the Trinity as more human than human; because God became man so that Man could become like God. The Macrocosm imprinting Their Hyperreal Ontology microcososmically onto Creation & Creatures so that they too may be Holy as They. (I recommend you speak with Prof. Fr. Dcn. Ananias of Patristic Faith; He is a Friend of Ours and can elucidate further. Tell him "Papa Petro" sent you...)

Being "spirtual" as a new age is tge wide door , its just philosophy without action , its all an outside act that leads to death , but whats beautiful in orthodoxy is the spirtual is the narrow door , when we are faithful to christ and we do what he says and follow the rules of the church , thats the real spirtual work , orthodoxy is the narrow door when we live it every moment , the narrow door leads to eternal life

THank you father for these amazing words. I have a question to go along with spirituality that my childhood friends of 20 years just asked me. He is not christian(anymore) and cannot understand that I am. He considered himself spiritual but doesn't believe in God. He asked the following. What is the point of believing in God, how is it useful to me? Of course, I explain my case but I regret to not be able to answer him for his own case, If someone can enlight me or direct to me to a form of answer, I would greatly appreciate it. God bless

Finding what is useful in your belief is clinging to egoism and missing the forest for the trees. We're called to poverty within our heart, to love each other as ourselves. God calls us to pure devotion.

@sten1470 that certainly is a great...serious one to take to God in prayer...not only for your friend....to be able to give your friend guidance...but you will be given an understanding and belief that will benefit you

Father Josiah, can you please answer a question for me? I was born and raised in the Catholic Church. I was also baptized a Catholic. Why do other non Catholic believers tell me that my baptism isn't real? Thank you.

Holy Orthodoxy deems Roman Catholic water baptism as valid. Your confirmation, however, which is your version of the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Not so much. If you want the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which we call chrismation, and be received into the Holy Orthodox Church...you will have to become a catuchumen and spend some time learning before partaking of this holy mystery (at the discretion of your parish priest).

Today, the word "spiritual" has two meanings; one of them is new and related to esoterics. Esoterics has various forms in various traditions, but in general, esoterics is a cognition of the hidden patterns of non-material phenomena. Thus, in general, being spiritual also means having esoteric knowledge and experience. Unlike non-Christian religions, Christianity contains esoterics in an undeveloped form up to now, and this has consequences. In order for a certain type of Christians not to deviate from Christianity towards non-Christian esoterics, Christianity should now devise christian - church - esoterics. But Christianity is unwilling to do this hard work up to now. Moreover, some Christians criticize those Christians who try to do this for Christianity...
