Quality of the new camera is so nice!! Here are some tip for the new camera, First off no matter what the lighting conditions are (whether during the day or night) you should ALWAYS be using a shutter speed that is double of what your frame rate it, this ensures a smooth true to life video. So if you’re shooting at 60FPS you’d want to shoot at double that so 1/125th shutter speed. This is the one setting you should never touch again. Example @1:23 you see how jittery the ratchet looks? That’d because you’re shooting at a very fast shutter speed, probably something like 1/1000th or 1/2000th. If you were shooting that shot at 1/125th shutter speed each frame would be exposed for a longer period of time so in each frame more of the ratchet stroke would be exposed, making the ratcheting look smoother. Also it’s very easy to fall down the path of just shooting every shot wide open at F2, F.28 etc to get those nice out of focus background blurs but for vlog style stuff when you’re panning and snapping in and out of focus on different subject etc, it can be disorienting to the viewer. Shooting at say F11, F16 etc won’t get you those out of focus backgrounds as easy BUT it does get more things in focus, which is good for vlogs because the viewer can actually see everything that’s happening. And lastly as the other photographer dude in the comments mentioned definitely get a wider lens 28mm is just that hair too tight for vlog style content imo, wider lens plus faster aperture = the camera not having to snap in and out of focus as much. I hope I explained that all well and I hope it helps :) Love your content so much I just it to be the best it can be!

Holy moly, thank you for the insight! I definitely did not realize how in depth cameras could be when I bought this one haha. Hyped to learn another skill tho! Thanks for the advice! Do you have a recommendation on a lense? I recently learned not all lenses are exactly ideal for this camera in particular due to the large sensor
@Sax20XX3 ай бұрын
@@PrizzaMike You’d be after Sony FE mount lenses as the A7 is a full frame camera, you can use the E mount lenses but your camera will be in crop mode which isn’t ideal as the video quality won’t be as good, and usually the FE lenses are better optics anyway. It’s hard to have an exact recommendation as each lens comes with its draw backs whether it’s price, weight, zoom range, etc. you’d want a focal length around 16-24mm ish that’s good arm fully extended vlogging length. I look back at your videos and it looks like you’re using the ultra wide length on your phone which would be around 18mm. Anything wider than this and stuff can get distorted. The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD or the Tamron 17-50mm F/4 Di III VXD would be great choices. But you should defs do some research and see what length would be best suited.

mannnn vibes on point, wish I could head up to a meet, it's just 14 hours away from me🙃 also! constructive criticism on the camera stuff (as a photographer myself): make sure your in body image stabilization is on, you should probably use some form of post production stabilization too since the footage is a bit shaky, though this does crop the video in a bit which brings me to point 2 might be worth getting a wider angle prime lens or a zoom that goes a bit wider than the one you have, somewhere around the 23mm mark should be good for arms length selfie recording. the wider focal length also helps make the video feel more stable, plus some lenses also have OIS (optical image stabilization) so that plus the in camera stabilization can smooth things out a bit more (though those lenses are pretty pricy). really enjoy the bump up in quality overall, hope we can see some insta posts shot with the new camera too 👀, always around to answer camera questions here or in the discord but I know you've got CJ to consult on that and stuff too lol, keep at it!
@PrizzaMike3 ай бұрын
Awesome! Thank you for the advice! I did recently see there was a stabilizer, I activated it and it did partially crop the screen(can't remember if I did this before or after filming this vid). The current lense I have is a 28 - 70. I'll definitely need a wider lense, that'll be the next purchase 🫡
@sir_wheat_thins3 ай бұрын
@@PrizzaMike stabilizers that crop are usually digital stabilizers, IBIS (in body image stabilization) is actually a system that physically moves the image sensor to make it act like it has suspension. your camera might not have it, but most of the sony a7 lineup does. if you have the option, i’d suggest all physical stabilization in camera and turn the digital in camera stuff off, and use your computer for additional software stabilization (which will crop a bit, but it’ll generally do it better) something like the sigma 18-50 might be a better fit, still lets you do zoom stuff but it lets in a lot more light being at a higher aperture and it goes wider zoomed out, and it’s pretty affordable as far as lenses go (but won’t zoom in quite as much)
