The plaintiff hired the defendant to paint her apartment and caught him standing on her bed with his dirty shoes. After the job was complete, the plaintiff claims the defendant ruined her floors, bedspread, and an antique mirror, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant insists he just got a little paint on the floor and that was it.

@@elvickRULES im a painter and from what was described on the video i would say it would take about one hour with a wet rag and the rough side of a sponge to clean those few paint drops . the paint they sell for walls can be easily cleaned off things with only water .

I’m a messy painter and there is no way it took her over 30 hours to clean. Paint comes right off of wood floors. Big drips just peal right off. Fixtures can be more of a pain but still it just takes a bit of hot soapy water and some elbow grease.

well im a painter too for the last 20 years and u should know better than that . its not practical to cover everything in every case as all jobs have a different layout and situation . im tired of people leaving all of their furniture in the place and things hanging from the walls and all their items on top of desks but they expect the painter to move everything and then cover everything and not pay xtra for that . we painters do one thing , we paint , we are not movers and we are not cleaners and how many times have u done a job and the previous painter got paint on the floor but nobody notices until after the new painter does a job and gets accused of paint drops that were already there and not even caused by the new painter .

@@marleonetti7 that’s why I always take pictures/videos when I walk into a job. And it’s not always practical to cover everything. That’s why I tell my clients they need to either have everything on the bed in the center of the room which I then totally cover or they need to clean the room out. If they don’t then I don’t start the job til it’s done. I turn down projects if I think the liability will be to much. I understand she said the fixtures on the walls would be removed and replaced but that’s not good enough. When she takes those down unless she replaced them with the exact same ones your gonna see that bald spot with a bunch of paint on the edges. Maybe I’m just to much but when I do a job I want a happy customer and something I can be proud of.

The plaintiff's COWARD husband jumped the gun in firing him & then sent his wife to "clean up" HIS mess! I've been painting houses & boats (both indoors & outdoors with all types of paint) since I was old/responsible enough to do so. I've never been paid for any job as I do it for myself, friends & family -- or as my mother said, "Go earn your keep & paint the hull's waterline." as we lived aboard our commercial fishing vessel. Looking at this man's work is cringeworthy, but it's also cleanable. When I paint there's always some MINOR clean up, but never that BAD. I understand the plaintiff's panic, the night the painting was complete, however, she definitely should have allowed him to finish the job & do the clean up. He was 100% sloppy, not legally obligated to pay a cleaner (since he was fired), but an honorable guy for making the offer. The Judge's ruling is correct, however, the cleaning job wasn't worth more than $50!

I also don't understand, If she hired him online, why would she leave a complete stranger in her house (alone), while she went out to eat with her kids ? I don't believe her husband is at work. The very first question I would ask is. Where's your ladder ? If I hired someone to change a lock on my door. I would expect them to have tools. She wanted back the measly 600 dollars she paid him. Plus an additional 2400 dollars. The audacity and entitlement of some people. 2400 dollars. She said she's already cleaned (her) own house. So the little bit of spilled paint couldn't have been that horrible. She's just stingy and greedy. She saw an opportunity to take advantage of that man.
