Think it takes anything between 3 - 5 years to feel properly settled in and used to a new country. There’s always some ups n downs along the journey. Best of wishes to you both, you do seem to have a positive attitude which will help immensely. Auckland isn’t normally as windy as lately, the weather patterns have been weird the last year or so. Hoping things finally settle down.

We also immigrated from SA to NZ a few months ago, and it is not easy but definitely worth it. There's so much more to do, and mainly, it is a lot safer. I hate it when people have negative comments or opinions about immigrating if they haven't even tried it themselves. And yes, it is not easy at all. I dont miss the SA country, I miss our people!!

Lekker positive guys.👍 The best advice I got when I immigrated to Australia was to, “Find a footy team to support - Find an Australian beer to drink - Make Australian Mates…… because there is nothing nicer than drinking a few beers with your mates watching and chatting about the footy” The lesson is to integrate, celebrate and be comfortable with your difference, DO NOT let it isolate you. I’ll never understand why our best efforts, hopes and dreams of our beloved rainbow nation weren’t realistic and to be honest I no longer care, and in my experience neither do the people we meet in our new countries. Don’t let the “hangover” of THAT disappointment affect your experience of your new life, YOUR new beginning. Good luck❤

I've got a friend from NZ who is visiting her children in SA right now. She married a Kiwi and left several years ago. With the worsening situation in SA, she and her husband would love for the kids to immigrate from SA to NZ, but there's something about a point system that's stopping them. My friends live in Auckland and getting the kids to immigrate there is next to impossible, but would be doable if they lived on the South Island. I know it pains them all to not be together in NZ.

Great vlog as always, and sound advice guys. Before we left SA for NZ, my wife said, "what can I expect?" I replied (and while it did not answer her question, in my mind, these were the two important issues) 1) SA/NZ drive on the same side of the road, and 2) Kiwis speak English, therefore the rest, not a problem (meaning - we will work thru the issues, as and when) My reasoning: turn those around (learning to drive on the other side of the road, and learning a new language, after moving countries) - Yeah - Nah. Hi you2, there is no end to enjoyment if a person is happy. Bear one thing in mind, never forget the future, always reserve something for then. Novilty is a thing which can wear off very quickly, take care, it comes unexpected. NZ is not SA in size, only a percentage thereof, you could be depleted of options very quickly, and then, what then. Re-visit places, they do change, it is better to strech your options. immigrating from SA to NZ is hard but now there are so many SOuthern African folk here from SA Zimbabwe Botswana Zambia etc, NZ has a big SA population with some South africans having moved to NZ in the 90s

For anyone considering moving, for a lot of people it will take 18 months to 2 years to feel settled, The reality of being an adult is a lot of people have established lives & frien groups. How many new friends did you make in the last year before leaving? To make friends in Nz you have to put yourself out there. Join the various sports groups/teams or organizations. Squash, tennis, golf, hiking, etc there are 100s. On average people are said to like about 5% so as long as there are 20 people in a group you should be able to find 1. What you cant do is hope the neighbors will be your friends & just go from home to work. The neighbors might be, but realistically theyre as random as anyone walking down the street. Get out there & join the groups

I think moving to a new country will be much easier before you start with a family. Children make your life so much busier and they need to get to a school etc etc. Also you have no family support to help with the kids. So starting a family after you arrive and first get settled in and know your way around would be so much easier. The children will then also be born in your new country.

Hi Ashina, when we first came to NZ, we lived in a place called Whangarei which is also about 2 hours from Auckland city (you can have a look at our older videos). While it was really beautiful and we loved exploring there, it was a bit quiet for us. So it just depends on what type of lifestyle you want :)

Until then, we thought that South Africa was a first world country, we had never realized that it was a third world country. And now we can't adapt, we move in large numbers to New Zealand, Australia or even Portugal in the hope of recreating the 70's and 80's. There's nothing wrong with immigrating, but our reasons are basically these. What I find sad is that there is no climate and air like South Africa, my children probably won't have that feeling of "Africanness", we are on our way to becoming the same thing as whenwes in Zimbabwe.

Mental health very important. If you don’t have a support structure and need others to keep you positive, NZ is far from family&friends, make sure you get involved with community,sport or socially. Remember even Auckland is small in comparison to most of the South African cities, there are much less people around, only really busy areas are Auckland cbd and Albany. Do your homework well. On the various social media groups there are groups for and against everything, read all the info you can get, but keep in mind you are not them, don’t allow others to influence your decision, make your own. Read the comments on the groups on why the people returned or are planning to return, there are groups just for this. Most other groups people are promoting only the good. Important to get a balanced perspective so you can make an informed decision, as said in vlog it can be a very expensive mistake. But for some it also a great decision. There are around 72000 South Africans in NZ, with 36000 in Auckland and 6000 in Waikato,wellington & Canterbury.

Two things I love about home. A Maori culture forged upon absolutes on meaning and value. And, 'God defend New Zealand ' sung in two tongues by many ethnic backgrounds. If we can just understand the obvious symbols in a historic flow, New Zealand can be a beautiful place. The haka for example, which is not really a haka but rather it is a Ngere, like a chant is about a chief who saves the life of his enemy only to lose his life for doing it. I don't think that it's a coincidence that Ka Mate is our greatest export. I think, that taken the current condition in the earth today, the only place we can look to for understanding, is historical precedent. If the world ever needed Jesus, today is that day. Read the second verse of our anthem. It's mad. Cool video 😎.

Love to hear that first fact . Doing it for yourself. My fiance and myself hope to move over soon with our little boy. She's a teacher and I'm hoping to get into a landscaping company. She is always saying we doing it for the little one. So he can have security and a better future and while that is really a no brianer I keep reminding her that we aren't old and gone and doing it for ourselves is just as important. We still have a future and possibilities and new opportunities that may present themselves. So doing it for yourself is something that is super important to me. Pretty much all your points are in line with ours. From experiencing new things, (some as simple as just trying new products is extremely exciting for me) If all goes well with us it would be so great to meet up if we end up in aukland area to grab a coffee( or beer craig)😂. Reality check about NZ, my wife, my son and I moved here December 2023: 1. Bloody hard to find a job here, both my wife and I have degrees and loads of experience. In SA you will get discriminated against for being white. Here you will be discriminated against for being foreign. You will hear nonsense like "you don't have enough kiwi experience". You will pay no less than $500 to have your degree checked by some professor who works for NZQA, you will pay or you will stay. 2. NZ VISA laws change all the time. Even if you have a job here, don't think you will just move between jobs, the new VISA laws make it bloody hard for employers to employ foreigners, they have to jump through loads of hoops to get you employed, quite frankly, NZ employers don't want to go through all that trouble, so they pick people who already have residence or permanent residence. 3. NZ government loves money more than the ANC. The difference between a 1st world and 3rd world country is that in a 1st world country they use technology to better govern you, to keep your ass nailed to the wall all the time. You WILL pay for parking, if you are lucky it will be $18 for a day, most of the time it is closer to $40 a day. NZ government employs people to drive around in little AT (Auckland Transport) cars with 4 cameras on the roof to scan plates - Trust me, you will pay for parking, you will not escape it. 4. NZ government likes to screw migrants over. For example, I am a software engineer but I was qualified as an electrician when I was younger. I wanted to register my qualification here also (I was an electrician for nearly a decade). NZ allows this, you will pay $1500 (nearly R20 000.00) just to be told that you are a sucker and they want you to work for them for no less than 2000 hours, supervised by a qualified electrician and then you can apply to be registered as an electrician, they will decide. Think it's easy? Go check point 1, think I am lying? Come here and try for yourself. 5. NZ is crazy expensive, if you think you will survive here on the "hubby's" salary, guess again. There is a reason why thousands of Kiwi's are leaving for Aus. 6. If you are true Saffa, you will miss home a lot more than you realize. You will miss seeing animals when walking through the bush, you will miss sunshine, you will miss your family, you will miss many..many things. 7. I know a few Saffas here who are very happy in NZ, but I can tell you now that most of them love it here so much because they've got to a point where they hate South-Africa, they don't even want to be called Saffas anymore, they want to be known as Kiwi's. It's easy to walk away from something when you hate it. 8. If you like sunshine and hot weather, NZ is not for you, don't believe the nonsense on google that says it doesn't rain so much. Most people get jobs in Auckland, and it doesn't rain in Auckland, it pours. 9. Don't believe a word the NZ immigration consultants tell you from SA, they are all a bunch of liars that want your money. They will tell you nonsense like you will come to NZ and within a week you fill find a job. There are plenty of Saffas here that are suffering because of stupidity on their part and because they listened to those blood sucking liars who call themselves immigration consultants. If you don't believe me, go join the facebook group for Saffas in NZ, read and see the complaints and pleas for yourself. 10. If you are a christian it will be even harder for you here - these people love to be "inclusive" and all kinds of other nonsense. They blaspheme Christ everywhere. They don't dare blaspheme any other god or thing, but when it comes to Christ you can know for a fact they will blaspheme Him. There are christians in NZ, but they are few and far between. 11. Think the police is better here? Not a chance, they have their fare share of taking 40 minutes plus to respond to violent house breakings. Think the medical situation is better here, not a chance, if you don't have private medical aid you will wait months before you can see a specialist. Just last week a lady I know off, her father was in a dire situation, they called for an ambulance, an hour later they were still waiting? Sure I guess you can argue they are stupid, why not just jump in the car and drive to the hospital? This is not an isolated story, another woman who's son got beaten up in Auckland took her son to the hospital, they waited 8 hours before a doctor came to see them because the son's face was smashed in but he "seemed" ok, no one bothered to check internal bleeding or anything like that. If you think the medical situation in NZ is good, you are under some serious disillusionment. 12. Did the bastards in SA tell you that you will only pay $50 or so to see a dentist? Ha, you will pay at least $70 only for the consultation, then the money hemorrhadge starts. You will pay no less than $1600 for a root canal (nearly R20 000.00). 13. NZ life is for the rich. If you come here with your family and earn $120 000.00 a year then you will only just survive. If you can get a lot more than this you will be happy, because in NZ you can have it all as long as you pay it all. 14. Think NZ is prettier than SA, well that depends on what you think is beautiful. If you like the desert then NZ is ugly, if you like tropical then NZ is spectacularly beautiful. But still, no animals, some birds here and there maybe, but nothing even close to what we have in SA. 15. If you think you are going to come to NZ for a better life, you are in for a surprise. It will most probably be a lot crappier life for a long time before it will become a "better" life. To be honest, the only thing that is better here is that there is less violent crime and no JuJu's or Andile's running around calling for the mass murder of white folks, or even the cats and dogs of white folks. Even so, if you have family in SA you will be worried about them, so your soul never really finds rest for itself. 16. Do you like driving slow, NZ is for you, you can keep to a pace of 50km/h at your hearts desire. I will say, there are places on the highways where even the kiwi's don't care and they push their cars to 140km/h, but you do this at great risk. Remember what I said about technology usage in NZ. Not saying don't come to NZ, just saying have your eyes wide open and understand, there is no bloody paradise anywhere on earth. Sounds like you’re having a tough time here 😢 Our videos is just one perspective and hopefully people will consult various different sources and do a lot of research before they make such a huge move. We love it here, but that doesn’t mean we hate South Africa. Hope things change for you soon 🫶

@chrispaul2609 Thanks for the message friend, by God's grace we are doing ok I think. Apparently stats NZ announced in May 2024 that thus far 134 000 kiwis have already lost their jobs, mostly in the public sector, with yet another 26 000 to come. Again, not saying to anyone don't come to NZ, just saying that life here is bloody tough, maybe even tougher than SA in certain respects. All the best to you and your family also, sorry you had to go. My best friend here in NZ, he and his family also had to leave in June 2024 because of the VISA law changes.

Hmmm...... there are acually 131 000 new zealanders who actually have move away from New Zealand from july 2023- july 2024. And that is actually very muny, because the population of New Zealand in only about 5,3 million humans. And many "kiwis" move to Australia these days and some even to Britain on the other side of the planet. So everything is not good in New Zealand. But New Zealand is a a very beautiful country, but it is far away from "everything".🤔
