@z.t9988

@@vengeancewillbemine3440 ye i see the confusion. the difference is that, that particular dish is made will a whole intestines stuffed with rice and not separated and segmented ( noting some peaces might be 30 to 40 cm ), along with the actual stomach also filled with the same filling. Everyone tries to claim good ole "shwarm" but no body knows since they're long dead. And who cares. We don't even know who really did what or where with anything thousands of years ago "first" since we weren't even there. Since humans have been around millions of years no one can claim they did anything first. It sure as death wasn't the Palestinians. Like the so-called "wisest man who ever lived" King Solomon said, "there is nothing new under the sun". Selah. Get off your imaginary cultural high horse or unicorn. Whatever imaginary "first man, native" non sense divisive, false pride kick you get on.

I have been in Lebanon 10-15 times, and I adore the Lebanese cuisine, together with the Syrian. These 2 are in the global top 3 for me. I love the experience that wherever I go or just find a street vendor with some falafel or kibbeh, everything tastes fantastic in these countries. Nevertheless, this buffett is more of a redefined or fusion place. It does not really mirror the very authentic and masterpiece-like kitchen that this country has. I hope the next episodes will be a bit more native.

Awesome to have you here in the country man! Super fun to watch your energy and see you enjoy the food! A few tips when in Lebanon though: 1- get someone to guide you through the food, we have A LOT! Many of those you ate were not really authentic or well-made, and you kinda ate quite a few things with missing sides/dips/etc. :D Looking at that food, as a Lebanese, I actually wouldn't wanna go to that place. 2- you want the best food... get invited into a household - moms make the best Lebanese food! :D But again, great to have you here and super stoked!

Awesome video! Glad you enjoyed Lebanon. Here are a few pointers: 1- The artichoke leaves are typically dipped in garlic lemon-oil (that's where the flavor is at), and you should empty the fibrous and inedible part in the artichoke heart (which you ate). The heart itself should be soft and delicious 2- The dip you ate was not hummus, but rather mtabbale (grilled smashed aubergine with tahini) - which can be easily confused with hummus if you don't know the difference very well 3- The sausages you ate are actually stuffed lamb intestines (hence your accurate description of "fatty" and "intestinal" flavors!). It's a very old-school dish that is unfortunately not that popular anymore and the majority of Lebanese are grossed out by it. You were lucky to find it there! Not many places do it anymore

I really enjoy stuffed artichokes...breadcrumb,parm,salt,pepper,garlic and shove it into the leaves then when you scrape you also get some of all that. You were so close with the heart but the hairy part you dont eat. Plain artichoke with just some salt is delicoous too!

I appreciate Foodie KZbinrs who travel the world to experience different cultures, cuisines, and connecting with the locals. What I don't appreciate, is when a Food Reviewer KZbinr who goes to different countries but does not want to connect with locals in specific countries, brushes their history aside, advertises the worst thing about the country, and comments that a specific dish taste like "dirt", how about "earthy". If you are having a bad day, don't bother making a video because it ends up insulting people and would make you look bad. I get you might have a sense of sarcasm or humor, but you need be mindful because you have an audience watching from all over the world and can hit a nerve. Lebanese people are very hospitable, welcoming, and friendly. Why did you not connect with the locals, the majority or all speak English. Do your research, socialize with the locals, go to villages or a city or a neighborhood where they show you how a specific type of food is made from scratch. Don't go to a friggin restaurant where all the rich people go to advertise stupid buffet menu. That is not a way to connect with the locals and learn the history of a country including the traditional food. Maybe partnering with Anthony Rahayel would have made things more interesting and informative for the audience. Anthony Bourdain (RIP) and Mark Wiens did a better job, at least they went out there and connected with the locals because they cared and that mattered to them. Always been a big fan of yours, but this one really got me disappointed. That is all the feedback I can give you if you care to take it.
