The dyson dc07 is probably the nicest dyson in terms of colour schemes. The colours that they came in are lovely! My favourites are the pink, blue & purple,Green & purple and this red & purple one!

Great and thorough strip down that gave me the confidence to tackle a rebuild of my own DC07. Some of the plastic parts had become brittle and had broken so I just bought a replacement chassis and transferred the old bits over. Now, cleaned up, it has the suction of a like-new machine. By modern standards the DC07 may be chunky and brash but it does the job better and cheaper than many modern vacuums. What a shame they no longer make them. Thanks Biko

Dam it ! Only just found you, last week I paid £25 to have a broken wheel replaced, I could have got one on ebay for £4 but didn't have any idea how to replace it, BUT I do now !. This Dyson was bought to replace my brilliant all original Hoover 612 which was an amazing machine, only reason I replaced it was because if you accidentally knocked the bag a cloud of dust escaped, I was told I could wash it but it made it worse 😕 . I tried to donate it with the original tool set in it's original box but unfortunately no body wanted it, I thought somewhere like "The Black Country Museum" or other places like that would like it but sadly I couldn't give it away. Thankyou for your fantastic videos. I've subscribed, I think I might need you in the future 😊

Shame to read about the 612, it might find a home on ebay with postage (the handle comes apart into two for ease of packing!). Their really hard to convert to an inner bag which doesn't help...

Great video & together with the tear-down you’ve enabled me to replace the motor on my 20yr-old Animal! A couple of things need highlighting though; 1) the small seal on the motor has unequal lugs (on mine at lease!) so care needs to be taken when refitting to the motor so it alights correctly with the corresponding cutouts in the case; 2) refitting the deep clutch cover screw is easier if you do it first, offering the cover up to the hole in the main chassis so that the screw slips into the channel which then eases alignment. Other than these minor points a brilliant vid which has hopefully given my DC07 a new lease of life!

I want to say thank for your video’s. You have helped many times with me fixing my DC07 Animal model. This vacuum is wonderful, it does the job it was made for. It’s getting old now(I purchase this vac back in 2008) and she is still going and picking up dog hair and cat plus human hair all these years. I’m just now replacing some parts. And there not big parts either. The parts I have replaces have been was the clear canister due to poor repair, the wonder Elderly lady was up in her years force the old canister from the bottom to open, hence reason for new canister. I also replaced gaskets. Tutoring via Videos on how to cleaning the cyclone, and how to put together the handle cap again. So thank you very very much from a lady across the pond 🙂

A huge help in replacing the motor in my DCO7. I certainly wouldn’t of tackled the job or accomplished as easily without your thoughtful directions. As it was a maintenance change I didn’t extend it to the useful tear down and clean sequences you applied to machine viewed here. Those rewinds at slower speed also identified the corresponding parts to get the trickier jobs done with least fuss. I still managed to get to the clutch drive belt cover on but the hidden screw access wouldn’t align. After looking at the whole cover I noticed that the plate adjacent to the clutch selector switch was outside the purple changeover cover; you do show a functional check in your video to highlight this! But retracing those steps was not too much grief. When refitting the brush assembly, as an alternative, I used a trampoline spring puller to extend the brush belt; which many folks may have to hand. It does require the feet to brace the upturned base as you tension the belt and, with the brush end plate removed, slide in the brush itself.

Brilliant video, has helped me on my refurbish of a old DC04 that was being thrown out. Do you ever replace motor carbons when you refurbish. As it take quiet a bit to get to the motor ,I generally do as well as belts, seems logical !!! As you alluded to parts for older models are getting more difficult to source, where possible I fit genuine parts, however the long hose seems to be difficult to source, and the ones I’ve seen have a different end ( that goes into Handel) so no sure on compatibility!!! any ideas or feedback would be appreciated. Keep up the excellent content 👍👍jason

Hi, My Dyson DC07 fell and the top of the cyclone broke. I replace the very top part and throughly cleaned the cyclone and it seems fine. In addition, The top of the duct assembly cracked in several places where the hose and cyclone attach. Do I need to strip the entire unit down to replace the assembly? Are there any other parts I should replace when I have the unit apart? I was planning on replacing the filters. Thank you for the giggles and all the useful information. It is wonderful to see someone who is so passionate about what they do.

I find these videos very helpful - I've changed filters etc etc in my Dyson DC07 - but it still has one problem I can't work out. I turn it on and it works good - sounds great. BUT - after about 10-20 minutes it develops this ("echo-ee") sort of noise - as loud as the engine. Its hard to describe the noise - but its in addition to the engine. The suction still seems ok and all else seems to work - but the noise is annoying. Its like I've put the Dyson into a higher (wrong) gear.

Any time, glad it helped 👍 I've snapped those before. They qbond back on nicely, and as long as you don't go swinging it around by the cyclone handle 2 should be fine. Once the cyclone is fitted to the cleaner it's held in more with the chassis too, so the 3 screws don't do as much work I guess

Hello. Can you tell me if the duct assembly, I think some refer to it as the “spine” is the same for the dc07 and dc14? I have a dc07. The assembly literally cracked in two. I have a dc14 I picked up on the street for donor parts and wonder if it would fit. The duct assembly is going for 120 dollars and don’t want to spend that. Thanks for the video!

ha the metal bracket in none cluched motor housing versions is a pain in the arse lol. if you knock it with the belt drive it completeley buggers up and you have to start again, which is fine but when there is slippery fairy liquid on your hands it is not fun.

Thank you. I can now fully refurb my 2002 DC07 animal and replace the burnt out motor. Up till August 2023 when the motor gave up the ghost, it has been used regularly in the three homes I've lived in since 2002 and has been relatively trouble free. Even if a little high maintenance on the brush roller and filters, but that's to be expected when used in homes with open fires and having pets as well. I'm rather surprised it lasted for 21yrs given their reputation for poor build quality. If it lasts another 20+yrs it should see me out.💀👻😈
