I started taking it for my severe anxiety years ago. I take 300mg a day and can't sleep and suffer bad panic attacks without it. It's addictive for me because, before it, I was a danger to myself. With it, I can somewhat function like a normal person. I have NEVER taken Pregab from the street. The most I have ever taken at one time was 450mg. This only happens when my anxiety and panic attacks are extreme and 300 doesn't work and I usually sleep for two solid days after. And no, I would never consider quitting at this point in my life because when I wake up, I no longer want to die.

Pregabalin is neurotoxic, it's been proven time and time again. Hearing and sight loss is very common for pregabalin users so bare that in mind. @@josephdugdale4150 Actually drugs like Pregabalin and Gabapentin are designed for daily use. You cannot just pick and choose to use them on and off, or you will suffer withdrawals and will suffer kindling if you've kicked them before. Not quite sure where you got your info from there. Plus hearing and sight loss are not known amongst pregabalin users any more than any other drug. Making this shit up doesn't help anyone. If you wanted to dissuade people from using it, you would mention the mental side effects such as the tendency for users of it to forget words. Plus the HORIFFIC withdrawals you get when you stop taking it, which is what the chap in the first 10 minutes was going through until he tooted his dose. I came off gabapentin, a moderately medium-low dose, and the withdrawals from that were horrible. I don't want to imagine what kicking pregabs would be like. Plus my gabapentin withdrawals lasted a month. (I was a lot better by day 5 but I still withdrawals for a month... I couldn't touch caffeine for 2 months without each can of cola feeling like a massive caffeine overdose. A month afterwards I took 1 300mg gabapentin to try to sleep... and the next few days I had terrible withdrawals all over again)

@@mikesully110 Omg!! Forgetting words is a side effect of Pregab? I always forget words, even simple words, and often get lost in the middle of sentences. That makes so much sense! Thanks for that info (I know some side effects but not all, I don't read the side effects on box). As for withdrawl, I'm already terrified of that when I quit in the future (if I do). I can't go a day without it without suffering. It's extremely rare that I ever miss a dose though, I need it too much.

This was a kind comment (dont see too many these days, all jokes aside. Many feel and relate to these individuals pain... Some do not live long. Certain medications have their place but this may not be one of them and Pregabalin can be highly addictive or in medical terms 'dependent'. Therefore, I feel it should be prescribed on a more short term basis (if plausible). With efficient rehabilitation and combination of certain meds, their can be good outcomes. Medication is not a 'fix all' and never will be. People want a 'quick fix' or immediate solution to problems that can not be realistically addressed in such a manner. Many people are not informed of the long term effects of these meds and the horror of withdrawal (some who taper too fast and some whi taper as directed). PLEASE, do your research and believe in your ability to do the best you can do, in any 'way shape or form'... I wish these people the best. I see some broken faces and hearts that could have alot of potential. All the best in their futures, may they be bright and prosperous...

I think both a lot of doctors and a lotta patients don't realise that because it works on GABA its potential for dependence / misuse and also withdrawal symptoms are very similar to that of the much more infamous benzos. All the best to these people. Treating anxiety safely is really hard to do long term without some form of dependence.

If some of these YT commentators knew the life stories behind people who self-medicate, they wouldn't be so quick to judge. Drug misuse is almost always rooted in traumatic life experiences and until the trauma is healed/processed the substance use will continue. It's a biological illness in the brain of affected individuals.

Tom A. Owen yes but I've had a lot of bad shit happen in my life but I'm not addicted to anything, it's how you deal with it not what happens
@teeo30447 жыл бұрын
Mason | Some people develop PTSD following traumatic events, others don't. Scientists aren't sure why that is yet but it's thought that genetics/brain anatomy and peer support/family networks play a role. It's never sufficient to say "Just because I..." in scientific debates because a case study of 1 individual means nothing when discussing an issue that affects millions of people.
@MSHCentral7 жыл бұрын
Tom A. Owen true and sadly I think it has a lot To do with where you were brought up and the friends you chose
@teeo30447 жыл бұрын
Mason | Indeed. It makes sense that if someone has a strong support network they are more able to process trauma healthily. Some people have the cards stacked against them in life and don't develop healthy coping strategies. It's good that you haven't gone down that path. Hopefully when people understand the reasons for behaviour shown in this documentary they will be less likely to fall into that trap and also reserve judgement on those that do.

I've taken pregabalin for anxiety for a number of years. When I went into psychiatric hospital an inexperienced psychiatrist cut my dose from 600mg to nothing over one week. The withdrawals I experienced were the way this guys withdrawals are. I had to go straight back up to 450mg after three weeks off it because of how ill I was physically, and anger, irritability and agitation are huge parts of withdrawal, even if I'm just a few hours late for a dose. Its just been re classified to a controlled substance because it's abused so much now and so dangerous. Some of these guys clearly have anxiety and if they only had a regular, smaller dose they would be ok. It's the irregularity of it that makes them unwell. I really feel for them.

I have been on pregabalin for anxiety for about 6 months. I’m on 150mg split up into two doses a day. I had no idea it was addictive or people had such reactions to it. I barley notice I’m on it, and sometimes wonder if it’s doing anything. The only way I can tell is that my anxiety is slightly less intense and I have panic attacks less frequently, but I’m still anxious all the time, and definitely don’t feel euphoria from it. I know it’s a low dose so it’s a little different but ngl it freaks me out that I’m on it after watching this

150 mg split up into two doses a day? Yeah no shit that's not gonna do anything, take 600mgs and smoke weed it feels like a super strength kava and it's Stimulating yet relaxing. Pretty shitty recreational drug all in all though, GHB and alcohol are probably the most recreational gaba agonists out there, benzos just either get rid of my anxiety when I take enough and when I take too much total blackout. Things like phenibut and gabapentin (similar to Lyrica) just make me feel normal unless I take a super high dose than it kinda feels like GHB

Jeez, they can have my old gabapentin and Lyrica. I have chronic nerve-induced back pain and gabapentin makes you stupid and unable to string two sentences together and Lyrica is a slightly more refined, and more obscenely priced version that offers only slight relief over gabapentin along with the same boatload of side effects. I stopped both of them. I don't recall either drug being prescribed for anxiety in the U.S., but I guess the fact it induces somnolence in a lot of people explains this. I recall a similar documentary about tramadol abuse among the youth of the UK. I've been on that drug as well, and it worked as well as Pez Candy in pain control for me. When a medication's side effects are worse than its benefits, I stop taking it. What is also mysterious is that I've never had cravings for any of these drugs. All the time I was on them I wanted to be off them. Those of us in chronic pain seem not to have much interest in recreational use of medication in general.

Literally there's just Lyrica and it's friend Gabapentin/Neurontin that literally just got emergency scheduled on the list coming in at Schedule 5; drugs possessing the least potential for recreational abilities. I had no idea anyone could get physically dependent on Lyrica until about a year ago when my younger sister got violently ill when she ran out. She thought she had the flu and then ended up in the ER with chest pains, in addition to other symptoms. It happened when she changed doctors and there was a gap in between running out and seeing new doctor. She only thought she'd have to deal with a few days of pain, but she was violently ill. It was her new doctor that informed her she can never just stop taking it cold turkey. That's crazy withdrawal for something that doesn't even have euphoric effects!!! 😳

Some people react more strongly to Gabapentin than Pregabalin and the doses/lasting effects are different too.I was prescribed Pregabalin for the nerve pain of shingles at 60 yrs old.They gave me Tramadol after an MRI scan showed spinal fractures due to osteoporosis;The Tramadol was easier to reduce when the back pain lessened.It has taken me a year to get the Pregabalin down to 25 mg once a day.I overdosed accidentally whilst on both-blood pressure was 200/140.Not good.Muscle twitches meant I was spilling hot tea over myself and my memory was shot.Paramedics thought I had sepsis.Hospitalised for 3 months.These drugs were prescribed and at the time I needed them for pain relief,but there are serious risks involved and a long withdrawal.

Dublife_junk Insta not to challenge your post at all....... addiction has developed at or before the point where sudden cessation of the use of a substance results in adverse consequences that are reversible ONLY by commencing use of the subject substance or one that uses the same pathways - i cite conventional opioids vs tramadol. they use the same pathways; therefore result in the consequences of sudden cessation of use of either. IF one suddenly stops using benzos, alcohol, opioids, and becomes ill, that is addiction. I also propose that tolerance during the course of treatment (i.e; opioids for pain) is a component of addiction. Getting doctors and patients on the same page with this issue is desperately needed; too many doctors persecute. Nurses are much more insightful with long-term patients: they know they patient IS addicted, but not of his or her own hedonistic choice. Sorry, I drifted out of topic on this. I think this documentary does a great job at avoiding moral and character issues; such malicious treatment that feeds off of and into stigma does nothing positive for an issue that's a complex as it is simple (and vice versa).

I have abused pregabalin and also heroin separately, the cold turkey withdrawal from pregabalin was not far from being as awful as heroin withdrawal. However doctors refused to even consider this fact. I was in hell physically and mentally whilst being told what I was going through was impossible. It was only recently it has come to light that many, many others have experienced the exact same thing as I did. I also started having many seizures on this medication, I'd never had a seizure in my life. I'm guessing doctors are now seeing this but it won't be officially recognised because of the risk of lawsuits and so on.

Pregabalin is a medication that works great for some & absolutely terrible for others. I took it off script to start with then requested it from the doctor as it completely changed my life & my anxiety/eupd for the better. I'm now on 150mg twice a day. Yet some of my friends who have GAD/Social anxiety find it terrible & no good and hated it. It's a really strange acting medication but I feel it gets shunned because of this. Yet I do feel because it's strange acting & almost dangerous for some it can be a risky med. All I can say is personally it has changed my life for the best. Got me free from a 15+ severe alcohol problem caused by social anxiety & keeps me 100% stable in the community. So yeah - Great for some, absolutely terrible for others. Watch out for this.

It would be 'an individual's ' meaning, the ownership of the noun, being the individual. Also, "individual's" can also be used, grammatically correct ofcourse, using it as a way of expressing such; as an example, "the individual's car was confiscated, in an effort to provide proper safety precautions for the community"... Meaning, obviously, the *individual's* car (showing ownership of a noun, in this particular sentence, which is a car)can be used in many instances. Another example "Barbara's almost there, she is running late". Instead of saying "Barbara *IS* almost there", you could (grammatically speaking) say "Barbara's running late" instead..etc.
