In India, we used only clay pots. Not only pots, every other cooking utensils and storing pots are made up of clay only. But by the modernisation, for the past 30 or 40 yrs, people were using non-stick, aluminum and stainless steel vessels. Now again, by awareness people are starting to use clay pots. But what they said in the video are really true. The food cooked using clay pots will be very tasty. My grandma used to cook in the pots and they are very tasty.

When I was small (early 50s), my mother used only firewood, and some earthen pots for cooking in addition to brass cookware. Earthen pots cook well, but they crack at the most unexpected time, and spill food all over the kitchen. It is OK to use them occasionally at a picnic spot, but not in a regular American kitchen.

The problem with unglazed earthen pots is the fact they seep over time and they incorporate the smell of whatever is cooked in them and it's impossible to get rid of. So if you cook a curry or chili in a clay pot, that is pretty much the only thing you ever cook in them thereafter unless you want the taste of curry or chili in your mashed potatoes.

It is not kuali but "kawali" which is a wok or a pan. However, the type of earthen ware they are talking about is what we call "Palayok" which is a clay pot in filipino and what we traditionally use together with the clay cooking stove which is called "kalan" similar name to the new cooking stove with gas.

I come from Hispanic heritage and my mother uses unglazed earthen pots all the time. If you purchase one and want to cook in it right away , the pot will crack. You have to “ cure “ the pot before using & they’re not expensive. You’ll find these in a Hispanic or Arabian stores.

No i use clay pots here in UK and i find i use less gas as initially the pot gets heated slowly on lowest flame like a slow acceleration on the motorway and gradually the momentum builds up due to the heat retaining properties of pot and then you can turn off when boiled to simmer in the pots own heat ( like a storage heater) . Gentle slow and sure to retain nutrients and flavour . Not much gas used either.

@yesenia38165 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you've had your question. Cast iron will give a nice sear to meats. Clay pots will not. Clay pots will not oxidize like cast iron. I rather fancy using both. I can sear meats in cast iron then transfer to clay pots for stewing. Clean up is a bit more work, but it's healthier and tastier.

M M Because it's all wrong, many benefits stated are predicated on the fact that food in a clay pot cookes slower which is easily achievable with contemporary cookware, also yes cooking in clay pots releases some beneficial minerals and metals but no matter how many strenuous FDA checks are done, cooking in clay also releases lead cadmium arsenic etc, not much. Probably not enough to be dangerous, but certainly enough to refrain from using this garbage

I believe not, Crockpots are a "glazed" product . . . "Clay" pots are used a lot in South America, they are unglazed and are of clay, natural from the ground. We have both, have used both in the past. Try the raw clay pots, cure them first, then cook a soup or similar dish "slowly" and I believe you will taste the difference. We use clay a lot now and love them. Some think clay is fragile and not suitable for cooking, they are wrong. Clay pots are great . . . (We believe) :)
