Considering monks like Ajahn Sumedho are constantly saying that gender is a convention, a perception, form, rupa - a Sankhara, I know he did attempt to help the Bhikkuni in UK when he was Abbott, however it was not full ordination and the nuns suffered greatly from the Patriarchy of Thailand. Because we know the Buddha included full ordination for everyone. When Ajahn Brahm ordained women it was the day the Dhamma came to life and the Buddha rejoiced. More and more we hear the Theravada monks in Thai tradition quoting nuns like Pema Chodron because the first Noble Truth is Dukkha and women bring a deeper more richer experience of emotion, due to the Patriarchal model of identifying with mind only. It can only be good that Theravada nuns are increasing because this tradition has done away with the fluff and trappings and teaches us true Dhamma. I hope I have not said anything negative, I come from a place that means well, it is my Kamma to experience. Metta and blessings to all 🙏🙏🙏

There is something so healing and poignant about this discussion. Thank you so much to the host for her great questions and to Bhante and all the panellists for your courage and voice in all this. Once I wanted to be a nun, and trained towards it but I decided not to pursue it for various reasons, including some of what is discussed. Listening now, I wish I had heard this then. I'm almost in tears listening to the Kindness and truth here. 🙏
