Many useful suggestions on dealing w/distraction & getting back on track. Overlaps a little w/CBT. Also veers a bit from trad’l insight-oriented therapy’s predisposition to try to uncover root causes for habitual maladaptive thinking-and she provides pragmatic reasons for giving priority to other methods (specifically within the context of practicing meditation).

Indeed. There needs to be enormous work on developing compassion and wisdom in conjunction with just trying to focus on the breath! But perhaps we all have to slowly but surely learn these things on our own. One could think one's really mastered beautiful states through breath meditation only to find later when things aren't going so well oneself back in hell! Slowly but surely is the way! 😃
