In the 1980s, I would have never guessed that Madonna would have had a bigger career than Belinda Carlisle. Both got a tremendous amount of airtime on the radio, mTV and the public, Belinda was prettier and had a better voice. Who knew?

I'm not saying Belinda has a more powerful voice but I just prefer the sound of her voice to Celine Dion's its as simple as that. In fact as far as I know every song she has recorded that was a cover version of someone elses song, I have gone back to listen to their version and others I may have found and I am yet to hear one that I prefer to her rendition.

It was only towards late 80s and 90s that the style that was in during the period made women prettier. What I mean by that is that we finally got rid of the hair spray to some extent and towering haircuts. Early to mid 80s were actually awful in that style department. Even 70s had a better style women still rocked longer non bleached and non overly dried out hair during the period. Around 86 or 87 is when women finally started mellowing down their hair and wearing smart clothes. How Belinda looks in this video is an example.
