She must have shot it in the eye or in the ear at close range flat on (perpendicular to the skull surface) to kill a large grizzly with one shot from a 1910 era single shot .22 and a 29 grain bullet. Today's most common 22 rifle, the Ruger 10 22 shoots larger 40 grain 22lr bullets. In any case, age sometimes makes a person more brave because impending certain death is a lot bigger foe than any grizzly. She was an anonymous hero for 63 years until the world was forced to acknowledge this person's greatness: Bella Twin.
