FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will not be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What equipment do you use?

Tripod: amzn.to/2w4ReK8

I'm an absolute beginner and thought I was doing my dc wrong, because upon turning the chain it made no sense whatsoever and looked a jumbled mess, but according to this video, I was doing the dc and the foundation ch right the whole time. So I guess my problem is a manual quality of the stitches themselves, which, only practise will remedy?

I made a washcloth the other day using only single crochets. However, it turned out hourglass shaped instead of square shaped. I believe I may have miscounted somewhere along my progress. Hi Bella Coco, I have noticed in some other tutorials that in the US to do a single crochet (uk dc) they pull through both loops on the hook instead of going through one loop on the hook, then pulling through both loops on the hook. Why is this please? Makes it quite confusing!
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 3 жыл бұрын
To make a double crochet (or a US single) you must always insert your hook into the stitch or chain, yarn over and pull through (leaving you with two loops) and then yarn over and pull through both loops. Perhaps in the videos you mention they are just not showing the first part? 😊

In the UK it's called a single crochet not double. A double crochet is yarn over insert hook yarn over pull through, until you have 3 hoops on your hook, Yarn over pull through two, yarn over again and pull through two until there's only one. That is a double crochet

When working into the foundation chain you should insert your hook through the centre which will give you one loop, however when working into actual stitches from the second row onwards, you should insert your hook under both sides of the stitch, giving you two loops 😊

When you are working on the first row, into the foundation chain, you usually go under one. For rows after, you can go under both, or just front, or just back, depending on the pattern.
