First, thank you to your husband for his service. Because of him and others in our armed forces, we continue to maintain our most treasured right, our freedom. Your house is beautiful! I’m all into historical homes. If only that house could talk, the stories it could tell. I LOVE the floors upstairs. I’m in East Texas so we don’t get snow like that. We get ICE! Several years ago me and my husband moved to Virginia for 2 years. The first night we were there, they had a blizzard. We too slept on on an air mattress on the floor and had a card table to eat on and sat in lawn chairs. You do what you have to do ! WELCOME HOME!

I think your husbands idea of filling in the pool is right on. I have had a in ground pool in Florida with solar heat and it was something we could use about 10 months a year. I will never have another pool, too much maintenance and expense for the little time you will get to use it in Maine.

You must be so happy. I live in Maine too. Cannon is getting used to all the new sights, sounds and smells. It was kind of him to help you show us around. He is a sweetie. Your house is beautiful. The cellar is scary and I personally wouldn't go down there at night but I'm a scaredy cat. You arrived just in time for all our snowstorms! You will need a truck with a plow for that driveway! And, of course, a generator. Lol. Forget the LL Bean boots - true Mainers need generators! I hope you are very happy in your new home with all the new adventures to come!

I was wondering if your absence was due to you moving. Your forever home is absolutely gorgeous Crys'Dawna. I love all the windows and how bright and sunny all the rooms are. I've never heard of pumpkin pine wood, but wowsie, the floors are gorgeous as well. Can't believe how wide some of those boards are. That was funny when you asked your hubs how it feels to be retired. Sure he's been a busy man during and since the move. He'll see even with doing renovations on your home, it's not like having to leave home every day to go to work. Liz Clark here, beautiful home, I would love to see a floor plan to see what has been added over time. The large fireplace that you want to use for staging is the original kitchen fireplace. Floors will tell you a lot about what is old and what is new. Best of luck in your new adventures!! Half bath door could be repositioned so bath not off kitchen, trust me better for meals, lol!!

Well we know dirt basements, frozen pipes, black ice, snow days & the challenges of decorating old homes. Boho is a fantastic and creative interior design choice in an old home because by its nature Boho design makes do and makes use of a variety of elements & includes so many unique styles - perfect for addressing unusual architectural features, peculiar passages, etc. And Boho is an exuberance of color - something often sorely lacking in a staid Colonial architectural environment - take a peek at how some Colonial homes have really broken free & grown up by reading any Architectural Digest from the last 50 years (especially issues focusing on South Hampton or Martha's Vineyard) and you'll be so inspired. My sister moved everywhere he was stationed, uprooting her life, leaving her jobs, it was hard but she loved it. Being married to a military person is definitely a family affair. Love your new home.
