I have a theory that Delphini wasn't meant to have a great life, nor be raised by either of her parents. She was a test and test subject. Perhaps meant to be a just-in-case vessel, maybe Voldemort just wanted to test if he could have children still after reforming, maybe he wanted her to break apart her soul multiple times so he could see what happens if she tried to put it back together. Bellatrix may have wanted to raise her, but that's never what Voldemort was going to permit.
@richiefranklin764 жыл бұрын
Which is why I hope they give her a redemption story,if they ever continue the plot. Delphi may have some of her parents attributes,but she seems more redeemable then they were. Bellatrix grew up in a rich and privileged family,and still loved evil until her dying days. Tom Riddle grew up popular and influential,but yet he didn't care.In the end he still wanted only power,and no friendship. Delphi wasn't them in that regard at all. She had a horrible childhood,and was routinely abused both physically and emotionally by the woman that was supposed to raise her.Also she was brainwashed by Bellatrix's husband to believe that she was the chosen one,to restore Voldemort to power.It's obvious by the end of the book that she just wanted to be loved by her parents.Love they were unworthy of to be honest. So I would love to hear more of her story,where she is eventually redeemed. Yes she already murdered a teenager and tore her soul.But if she can feel remorse it can be repaired.Maybe if she's de programmed and learns exactly what her parents were via Harry,she could repent and become a better person in the end. She and Harry share a kinships of sorts. He feels for her for being an orphan like her is.Her father made Harry an orphan,and Harry made her an orphan pretty much.I would love if he became her mentor like Dumbledore was to Harry one day.
@YourWaywardDestiny4 жыл бұрын
@@richiefranklin76 That's a decent argument for her. She's not totally irredeemable. It's a good plot for a fanfiction if a writer is smart about it. Unfortunately, JKR had to be a hateful brat, so anything new she might produce is now tainted forever by that and nobody will want to consume it, so we'll probably not get anyone willing to work with her on Cursed Child part 2. If the fans weren't already against Cursed Child, her frankly misinformed and demeaning views on certain marginalized people have turned them against it now.

Merope Gaunt Riddle's love potion did not simply "fade away over time." You need to keep giving the victim the love potion to maintain its effects. After a while Merope felt so much love for and from Tom Riddle, while already pregnant, that she decided to stop giving him the potion, hoping that his feelings for her and their unborn child were real and he would stay with them. Instead, once it wore off he seemed horrified by his situation, as if waking from a dream into a nightmare, and left her.

Would a “love potion” work on a person incapable of feeling love? If Voldemort never felt love, how could he suddenly have feelings for another person? We know Voldemort never trusted people from when Dumbledoor visits him in the orphange. He also did not trust Bellatrix. He was “concerned “ over her thirst for power. He understood that thirst because he had it too. However, both being narcissist, wouldn’t share the throne with the other. Wanting an heir makes sense.

The thumbnail LMAOOOO. Edit: Voldemort is aromantic (meaning, he doesn’t feel romantic attraction), not asexual (someone who doesn’t feel sexual attraction, but can feel love/romantic attraction.) Psychopaths cannot feel love. Yet they understand lust. In fact, the way Voldemort describes Snape’s feelings for Lily as “desiring her” rather than “loving her,” suggests this angle as more likely. While I wouldn’t place it above Bellatrix to use a love potion, I don’t think she would have had to. She was beautiful, and even if Voldemort did not love her in a pure sense, he could love her in a sexual way (and evidently, did.) There’s also the matter of taking Bellatrix from Rodolphus as a way to assert dominance over him. Bellatrix had long denied Rodolphus a child, but had one with Voldemort. I also don’t think Bellatrix would have done that knowing Voldemort’s background as the child of a love potion rape. No, I think the two of them had an understanding, and Voldemort rewarded Bellatrix with the honour of bearing his child as a reward for her loyalty, as well as a way to maintain control over her. Of course, he could have himself been sexually attracted to her without being in love with her. To TL;DR, Voldemort would absolutely fuck Bellatrix. But would he sacrifice himself for her the way James did to protect Lily and Harry? Absolutely not. That much is clear in his expectation of Bellatrix’s participation in the Battle of Hogwarts, despite her having given birth to Delphini not too long before that. Another thing against the love potion angle: recall how Ron acted when he was slipped a love potion, and how Jacob acts when Queenie gives him one. It’s a “drunk” sort of feeling, which Voldemort never exhibited. So, I don’t think he was slipped a love potion at all, as I don’t think Bellatrix would live to see another day once its effects wore off, loyal death eater or not.

Voldemort succumbing to love enchantments sounds unlikely given how strong his mind was. He'd be able to sense and resist the manipulation. The infatuation created from love spells/potions would have been the first time he ever had those feelings. They'd be new and take away from Voldemort's firm sense of control. He'd go ballistic. But it does make more sense than Voldemort planning for Delphini himself. He was immortal and didn't need to continue Salazar Slytherin's bloodline. On top of which, another heir could present a problem later on in the form of competition. On the flip-side, perhaps it was the combination of the two. Bellatrix had a complete YOLO moment, was on the edge of destruction, and explained herself and how a child exalts him. Would say she'd play to his ego, but all her actions were for him anyway. Voldemort saw her reasoning and decided to have a child. In this way it'd be to his benefit, as a child - or succession of one each generation - would be his most loyal, and thus can be entrusted to carry out other duties during his eternal reign over the wizarding world.

I really think it was as simple as Voldemort wanting to create an heir. Not because he thought Harry would win, but because he knew the final battle was coming and he needed to get having a child “out of the way” so that he could completely focus on defeating Harry and taking over. He had plans to be a busy guy within the next couple years, ya know? You don’t have to feel love to tango, or so I’ve been told. Bellatrix was the first volunteer when he announced his plan to the inner circle, because she obviously wants Voldy real bad (what a weirdo lol). The glimpse Harry gets into Voldemort’s mind is Bellatrix telling him that she is pregnant, and he’s happy not because he wants to rock the baby to sleep every night and sing her lullabies, but because it’s just another piece of his plan falling into place. Also maybe he was just happy because once was enough and he never has to tango with Bellatrix or anybody else ever again. He definitely doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who wants to spoon.

Having a legacy safeguard makes sense for Voldemort, considering how obsessed he was with immortality. I highly doubt Bellatrix would use a love potion on him though given her obsessive devotion, and how would she explain that to him after it wore off. He didn't even care when Harry hit her with the Cruciatus Curse, and even gave him tips afterwards, he certainly wouldn't have done that if he was under a love potion. As for Delphi's emotional instability, first, certain forms of insanity and obsession can be passed down from parent to child. Second, she was raised by devoted Death Eaters. And she did seem to have a deep affection for her father despite having never met him, to the point where she became almost desperate and pitiful, that's not a sign of a lack of emotion like Voldemort.

I think the Dark Lord procreated from a standpoint of furthering the Slytherin legacy. I question if a love portion would even work on Voldemort. More importantly, I doubt Bellatrix would ever dare to try to use any subterfuge against Voldemort, including a love potion. I also doubt Voldemort would have intentionally conceived a child to continue his bloodline since he would need no legacy since he saw himself as immortal and would forever be slytherin's permanent bloodline himself. That said, I still stand behind my own theory that Nagini, not Bellatrix was Delphini's mother. The piece of Voldemort's soul placed in Nagini caused her to lay an egg from which Voldemort's child, Delphini, was born. The surviving death eaters who knew the truth conspired to claim that Bellatrix was the mother because they knew nothing about the horcruxes and thus thought, but didn't want anybody else to know that their master had a physical relationship with a snake.

The answer is very simple. Voldemort intended the baby to be a backup body he could possess if his regular body was destroyed. We know he can possess animals and people when in his "less than the meanest shade" form. It's broadly hinted that in GOF he acquired his rudimentary body by possessing Bertha Jorkins's fetus (or possibly even impregnating her magically or even forcing Wormtail to do it). And there's no reason to think he would actually have sex with Bellatrix to do it - a magical turkey baster situation most likely. Bellatrix could never have given him a love potion. A) he wouldn't trust anyone enough to drink anything they gave him, and B) he would have killed her for it once the effects wore off

hum I think voldemort should be immune to love potion as he was conceived under it. That would make sense. Also, he could have be the one wanted a child as a way to keep bellatrix as a fervent subject for eternity. She always have been loyal to him, preferring going to askaban than renonce to him so he could have seen her as a subject that will alway scarify herself for him out of love. But because he doe not feel love, he may feel scared to lose her because he can't give her back the love that he don't feel, so having a child would be for him a way to give her something which look like love to her, for him to keep her forever in this obsession of him. It would have felt like a reward for all her sacrifices and in the same time it would have being a way for him to insure that she would be loyal forever to him. In addition, he is obsess with blood purity and Bellatrix have what he consider as a very pure blood line, which may improve his descendance (as he really try to erase the muggle part of his blood so mixing with a pure blood is also diluting the muggle blood of his blood line). For bellatrix, she never gave a child to her husband because she never loved him, so if Voldemort requested a child from her, she would have seen it as her giving him a proof of love that only him can have - from her.

I'm late to the party here, but this video has made me wonder about something. If you attribute Voldemort's downfall to the fact that he was evidently born with an incapability of feeling love, then this seems to contradict something that Dumbledore told Harry when he said that it was a person's choices that defined who and what they are more than our abilities (and be extension, our disabilities). So how does one reconcile these two, apparently, opposite positions? Was Dumbledore actually wrong in Voldemort's case, or did Tom Riddle only become the Dark Lord was because he happened to choose what might have been the path of least resistance? So entering the realm of speculation, what, if anything, could Tom Riddle have alternatively done to transcend the limits that his inability to love (which was not the result of any choice he made) to make himself a better and more worthwhile individual despite the disadvantage, especially given that his inability to love would likely even extend to an inability to love himself enough to be willing to try?

It seems very out of place for Voldemort to want a backup heir. His entire character is central around how he would do anything to rise to the top. He was so sure of himself, stuck-up, and confident that he would be immortal that he didn't even bother thinking things through well enough, which eventually led to his downfall. If he was so sure of his immortality, why would he want an heir just in case? It's very out of character.

Voldemort was "happier than he had been in a very long time" because he'd just broken out his most loyal followers including Bellatrix from Azkaban. He had taken a big step in getting his side back to full power. Otherwise The Order of the Phoenix book could not be understood on its own - And it would have been poor writing, which I don't think is the case. Now that does not preclude Bellatrix from using a love potion. It's just not hinted at in the original 7 books - It was added later on. So working backwards to match the quote with this theory is forcing it - It's just not very likely.

@violetflowers40434 жыл бұрын
Actually, I don’t think that Bellatrix used a love potion on Voldemort. In fact, I think that Voldemort actually felt love for Bellatrix. On the night that Voldemort tried to kill Harry Potter, 1.5% of Voldemort’s soul was forced into Harry Potter’s soul, which caused 1.5% of Harry Potter’s soul to be forced into Voldemort. Therefore, Voldemort contains 3% of soul (Half of which is himself, the other half was Harry’s). This means that after that night, Voldemort was actually able to feel love. However, that doesn’t mean that he had lots of love. It simply means that he wasn’t incapable of feeling love after that night. Then, later on, in the Goblet of Fire, Voldemort split his soul with his snake (nagini). This caused 1.5% of Voldemort current soul (which includes half of Harry’s previous split soul) to be forced into Nagini. In return, this caused 1.5% of Nagini’s soul to be force into Voldemort. Therefore, Voldemort’s current soul contains 3% soul (1.5% of which is Nagini, 0.78% is himself and 0.78% is Harry’s). This would also explain why Voldemort is able too see Harry’s memories which are present in his mind (soul). It would also explain why Voldemort’s body is mostly snake like. For further information, Nagini’s current soul contains 0.78% of Voldemort, 0.78% of Harry and 98.5% of Nagini. Also, Harry’s current soul contains %1.5 of Voldemort and 98.5% of Harry. Also, after the events of the battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter’s soul in Nagini and Voldemort would keep Harry at 98.5% soul at the end of the series. Therefore, he wouldn’t be considered fully pure soul.

Disagree. As I explain in a separate comment, the way the latest version of the play says that Delphi is essentially acting as a sort of ultimate horcrux. Part of Voldemort living forever and a more reliable safeguard against what happened after Godrics Hollow where he lost his body and power. Had he had a living horcrux in a child he would have returned much sooner because she would have found him and brought him back to power via the same potion spell that brought him back in book 4. I don't think the love potion used on his father made him incapable of feeling love but just more so of never experiencing love before and therefore never understood and or saw it as weakness (like what happened between his parents). Both Delphini and Tom grew up without their parents and not knowing what it was like to have an emotional attachment to someone (I said attachment not love) both grew up in poor emotional environments (Tom being bullied and out-casted while in the Orphanage and Delphini being a bit abused by her adoptive mother). I think we rely on magic so much to solve/cause all our answers/problems that we have a hard time seeing what could happen without magic. I think it's all stemmed to being emotionally stunted during childhood through the kinds of environment they grew up in. "But wait Harry was treated poorly by the Dursleys so why didn't Harry turn out the same?" and simply really, Harry didn't go through EXTREME emotional stress/dissociation as how Tom/Bella/Delphini did. All their character developments (in ANY show really) can be stemmed on how their childhood was, Delphini wanted some form of love or at least acknowledgment from them (at this time her interest are before she learns the truth about her parents and becomes obsessed with reviving them/altering timeline) growing up to understand and fill the void in her (hence why she is so adamant about changing the past) while Harry learned from as young as he could remember that his parents were already dead (though their actual cause of death wouldn't be revealed to him until his birthday in the first book++ also at this time Harry wasn't around magic growing up until he turned 12 while Delphini grew up around magic as a baby. Harry accepted the fact that they were dead and there is no point in changing the past but Delphini thought the opposite, even as an adult when Delphini tried to trick Harry to use the time-turner to save someone he STILL refused). We can see that even just the slightest tweaks/changes to someone's childhood emotional experience that they can turn out far differently from others. If there are any key info I may have missed the JK did say was true/cannon please let me know as how even though I love the HP books my memory still easily fails me on key points.

I personally think it was a combo of possibly producing an heir merely to concrete his role among everyone and as a reward to Bella for her loyalty, she does make the comment that if she had any sons she would gladly give them to him to serve him. So it could be a combination between preventing the Salazar line from diminishing for good and sort of creating and solidifying stronger more loyal members of his own.
@iamtrash-kun35164 жыл бұрын
I just think it's odd to say the love potion made him unable to love when the love potion was used on his father. The love potion makes the 'drinker' infatuated/obsessed over the person that gave it to them, it affects their minds not hearts since it isn't 'true love' being affected. So my question is, hundreds of witches and wizards use love potions on a regular bases and one is going to tell me NONE, NOT ONE person conceived a child the same way as Tom was? Like somehow Tom was a MarySue of circumstances to a potion that has been in use since the 1800s. My other question is how a Love potion can have an affect on a sperm that has yet to be fertilized because by saying Tom could feel no Love because of the potion means you are implying that the potion doesn't affect just the mind but also the sperm and somehow that makes the child 'love-less'? If the child was affected by the potion would it not make sense for the child to ALSO be affected and obsess over the person who gave the potion (such as his mother). I don't know maybe I'm looking too much into it but it just doesn't make sense in that way.
