I’ll Take Belleayre over the crowds at camelback, hunter and mountain creek. Longer runs for east coast too. Never had a “park”, hope they keep adding more!

Went here for the first time this past weekend, I fell in love. Went for a solo day after my boy got sick, and this mountain had some sick ungroomed rolling runs, deer run was an absolute favorite, and going to the west side of the mountain thru roaring Brook was a breath of fresh air. This is only my second season shredding, so I’m no pro, no insane black runs but enough variety to keep those of all skill levels satisfied. I think I was there the same day as you, saturday was a straight powder day. It felt like I was on the west coast for a brief moment coming down this ungroomed, wide rolling run.

Felt like you were a little harsh. $95 for a East Coast hill walk-up rate, especially so close to NYC, is a great bargain. Hunter and Windham up the street charge about double that for a very similar product. 70$ is pretty unheard of for a mountain like this - the small hills in PA and New England, sure, but not a midsize hill near NYC. As for ease of access, the main market is NYC, and it's super easy to get to Belleayre - straight up the NY Thruway and main roads all the way to the access road. Food here is better than many similar mountains. Not as insanely expensive as Hunter, but not a bargain. I agree runs aren't anything crazy, mostly just relatively straight fall-line skiing. Glades have improved dramatically here. Good design though, with a clear division between upper mountain steeps, longer cruisers, and lower mountain greens. A 3 felt harsh, but I've mostly skied the east coast, so...lower standards.

I really liked Hunter last year when I went, but definitely wouldn't go on a weekend... apparently it's all downhill since Vail bought it out. Super excited to hit up Belleayre and Whiteface with the Ski3 pass this year!

Yeah agreed. Food especially, they have ramen! And the bar is sick, the bartenders are super cool and make their own delicious bloody mary mix. They've got a bloody mary with candied bacon, it's incredible. Also personnel - I've talked to ski patrol to ask about conditions on certain runs and they're always friendly and helpful. Took a lesson once and had a great experience. Lifties are chill and play good tunes. A few seasons ago when I was still renting gear, I mentioned to the rental crew that I had really liked the skis they'd given me last time and they said oh word we can find you those same exact skis again. Just really nice folks. I'll be the first to admit it's a small mountain without much super exciting terrain, but I love Belle. It's my happy place in the winter. We can't all afford to go to Vermont every weekend. If you're a local, a season pass to Belleayre is a fantastic investment.

I would say Belleayre is good. I wouldn't say it's great. The vertical you described only applies if you ski from the highest point to the lowest point (through the beginner area). The idea of putting the gondola in was a silly one. They simply wanted to boast that they're the only resort in the Catskills that had one. The regular chairlifts are ancient, and it might have been wiser to upgrade the existing lifts. With that said, I do like the terrain, the quaint lodge, and the food was decent. And yes, I would return. It's close. It's convenient, and it's reasonably good. I'd give it an 81 (a B-) instead of a 41. A 41 is an F.

They just bought all new features for the park this year so that's gotten a big improvement for this year.

Went here for the 1st time this season, had a blast! For 1400'' vert is feels HUGE bc of its width. Took me 12-15 minutes to get from one end of the mountain to the other going at a fast speed. It does have good moguls and the gondola is bigger than the K1 at Killington surprisingly. Ticket prices are a steal on weekdays too

You should hit the Brattleboro Ski Hill in Vermont it’s a locals run resort with T-bar and a little park about three runs

Its also a good NYC day tripper resort or a resort locals go to right after a winter storm

By your grading system somehow Belleayre and Gore are inferior mountains/destinations to ant hills like Alpine Valley in Wisconsin or Buck Hill in Minnesota... Sorry, I'm not buying that

I hear it's a great family hill. My kids are 8 (twins) so looking to get them mileage. Any input? We land there on Tuesday 12/28

Okay a couple things.... Bellearye is in The Catskills in New York State, not NYC and the 70 dollar range? Almost every mountain in the East is around 100. $95 isnt a bad walk up price. You should check out Gore and Whiteface. They are New Yorks best mountains. Still a good video.

Just based on the footage of the park, it looks like you weren't in the best park they had. Also there are also some days were the view is beautiful.

You should go to Arizona yea we got snow. We got two main ski places. But I think snowbowl is better and you can hike to take the mountain when there's enough snow.

Every time you say you're not going to be riding the trees because it's the east coast it makes me sad lol. Tree skiing in the east is sick! Prefer it over west coast tree skiing. More technical and more thrilling
