I think the Bellroy Shift looks better, more sleek and urban. Maybe it doesnt have all the features but for a fraction of the price it's a great alternative.

There's also the Belroy studio, which if you're happy with a smaller size has a very similar feel (flap top, slim profile, boxyish). I've got the studio, well pleased with it. .

I see a lot of hate here. The bag is thoughtfully designed. It’s not perfect, but there is no perfect pack. Yes, the price is high, but you have great materials and premium construction. The way the seams are sealed/taped is very impressive.
@kiatography224 жыл бұрын
the thing about Bellroy, it appears to be overly priced but the moment you splash the cash and you hold it on your hands, you instantly know why you are paying so much for it. The overall design, material, build quality is well worth the price!

I bought Apex about 3 months ago. It's been great to use. However, the only issue it has is the fabric. It gets scratches too easily, and you can't get rid of it. Especially where the fabric folds at the bag's opening. That part turned white, and it looks like it is damaged. I'll wait for your long term review. But this happened to me even though I haven't used this bag that much.

Hi Bo, great thoughts on this bag. In fact, the more casual, conversational nature of this video without as many cuts/edits makes me think a title like “Bag Thoughts” could be a good one. In any case I’m here for the content which you always do a great job with. Stay safe and here’s hoping you can get back to normal life soon.

Hi Bo, thanks for the video! I think ‘First Impression’ is a good way to call this sort of review. Regarding the bag, do you prefer this over the Bellroy Shift? How does the Bellroy Shift hold up after all this time (if you still have it) ?

Hi Bo, Quicklook for a name is fine and great review by the way. I guess in the current situation there are not many reviewers who are able to go all out in their reviews and I appreciate you honesty though I am fine as I think you have earned the trust of viewers that your impressions will be good enough. From my perspective even though Bellroy is from Australia (where I live) and I generally love their product design and materials. It has to be said that for me the Apex range is at the very high end of the price range and as you point out this must then be a bag you will want to have and use for a long time or then it becomes a bit of an expensive collectors piece. Firstly I like to have a bag that looks good and is functional as well as looks better with age.

I really like the simplicity of the bag and will maybe buy it second hand one day, but the price tag is just too high. If you get the chance, can you do a Review/Quicklook on a Azo Equipment bag ? There isnt really much out there about these guys but everything is super positive. Nevertheless an really deeper look into maybe the amhara and the customer service, materials, options you have with their customization and built overall would be really amazing. I have really found nobody ever doing a real review about them.

Maybe it won't translate good but in English I think "casual review" and "formal review" might be the distinction you're trying to make. I thought I had heard/read that there was nylon hidden in the leather loops for the main closure hook. I got my flashlight and was trying to visually confirm, but cannot see anything but leather. So I don't know if I dreamed that up myself, or if they've done real magic in hiding the nylon. I think it would be worth reaching out to bellroy to confirm that it is *only* leather. For me I did not think that the clam shell opening mode was an "everyday" thing, but rather if/when you need to more carefully pack/unpack the bag. My use was basically always opening the top, with the bag vertical. I might occasionally unzip one side to get more access, but I almost never lie it down and totally open it much. I suspect this might be something you're doing since you're stuck at home. When you are out and about, you don't want to expose the guts of your bag. Another thing I wish you had noticed/mentioned is how amazing the fit is. The shoulder straps don't have much padding, but it's totally not an issue as what really counts is the shape and width/weight distribution, which on this bag is totally nailed. Final item: I had a nail clipper in one of the inner pockets and never realized that a magnet had grabbed it. It was up, underneath another pocket. I only found it when I had emptied the three pockets there, but could still feel that *something* was in there somewhere. I had to dig up around the back of the pocket to retrieve the clipper. It is an expensive bag, but you have to see it in person to appreciate the quality. This is *not* a "practical* bag. It is designed for bag aficionados.

They call that design a tool belt with the pouches around it. This bag is not for me anyway being a Vegetarian and not using animal products but I can’t talk because I bought theBrevitiē Jumper Camera backpack and it gets a bit criticism too. Just me for that price I would expect more leather. California we are not in lock down officially but Los Angeles county it’s recommended to stay at home. The case count is going up and the Governor was talking about curfews sort of like Europe closing places early to keep people from getting together.

No wonder youre so happy during reviews/quicklooks, because you tote around your Krups machine. Lol. Can the bag stand up on its own? The peaks on the flap when it's closed looks like clothes with shoulder pads women used to wear in the 80s. I can see the bag completely going beyond being user intuitive to user infuriating. This has got to be one of the most meh bags ever. What about calling this type of video, "In The Know" Thanks for sharing, Bo.

😂 Might be the case. But this Krups machine was a really good investment before the lockdown. The bag does not stand on its own unfortunately.
