Thats works to the point when fans dont even attempt to get attached to a new character. Then you have a factually dead show waiting for the sweet release.

I believe the dynamic between Cas and Balthazar is big brother, little brother. Cas was the captain of their garrison, following Anna's fall and Balthazar seemed to look up to him, even being one of the few angels to follow in his footsteps, but in a more selfish way.

Who did the angels fight or war against before the series began? In the early seasons, it was often suggested that the angels fought together in garrison. But against which enemy? The angels were barely on Earth or Hell before Season 4, with the exception of Gabriel the Archangel, and they never actively fought demons or Hell.

I was going to say the the same thing. Heaven's been through turmoil with in-fighting the entire time. Only against a common foe (Darkness) have they come together. Maybe now with God reappearing and being so few angels left there will be a unified heaven again.
