A ceramic glass platen used on a belt grinder is to remove heat more effectively from the belts. Nothing to do with “fine finishing”.

Please tell me that you wore a respirator and thoroughly cleaned your shop. Do you have any idea how dangerous carbon fiber dust is? My neighbor worked on the Boeing Dreamliner and told me about all the safety precautions needed when sanding or cutting it. Once it gets into your lungs, it doesn't get out.

Maybe modify it by attaching a Valcum on the end to suck up all the dust

I recently bought a belt sander as well and I too am now wondering how I got along without it.

It's been a year, still like this sander? Any issues to report? Considering one for my weekend metal shop. Thanks for the video.

No issues so far beyond the suggested changes you will have seen in other videos. Good little sander.

Great video, I've been considering a belt sander for a long time. I could see myself using it quite a lot.

turn the miter gauge around so the handle is on the left and it won't fall off

Do you happen to know how to easily make a negative of a mold?

I once had a twelve inch disk sander throw my work through one of those foam ceiling tiles. I had to go and get a ladder and a torch to find where it ended up. Also I've been using 24 grit on a floor drum sander recently. I was terrified it was going to go straight through the floor but it turns out 80 year old hard wood floorboards are amazingly tough.

Dang. That's intense.

Belt sanders are a great investment but for the love of the Cosplay Gods do NOT put anything loose to support an open one!
@ydin94 жыл бұрын
oh, no. NO. Do not set anything loose to "support" an open belt from under. That shit will lodge accidentally and fly towards the direction the belt is pointing at. -The table you set it wobbly beyond scary. - I find it silly that you yeet the safety features for comfort and ease belt changes on both sides without even being comfortable with using thing. - You are doing planing of a smaller than hand piece with belt sander, you will nick your fingertips. I advise you look into making glue jigs if you want to go less than 1cm thick.

It's resting on the plastic casing away from the belt.
