Here in Germany it is tradition (at least where I am from - close to cologne) to cut down a young birchtree and decorate it with colorful ribbons. Usually young guys in love cut them down and put them in front of the house or under the window of the beloved in question. It is called a May - tree....you do not have to be in a relationship to receive a tree...you can also get wood shavings which mean the opposite...someone really does not like you, if you are receiving those. The tree gets placed during the night whilst there are a lot of parties around. In the more rural areas will be bonfires. There can be tree theft and other mischievous acts. Greetings from Germany ;)

In germany we also celebrate Walpurgisnacht on the 30th April, the witches night for dancing :D I have a local moot that I'm going to tonight, not sure what is planned but it will be Beltane themed for sure :)

That’s interesting! Isn’t that how the leprechaun in that one story tricked the man into not finding any gold? By tying red ribbons on every tree in the forest?

1st timer here! Kept seeing this video pop on my suggested feed and very happy i watched. Im in USA and overall our culture has "forgotten" so much of where tradition began. I have been on my witch self learning journey for 1 year so far and its truly beautiful to step into this part of me that i have always felt was there. I never had a elder family member teach or even speak of practices but I have a very strong feeling my full German Grandmother did in secret. Thank you for your work and I hope you keep sharing your knowledge for us baby witches. Today to celebrate May Day i wore a shirt thats yellow with flowers, pink stone on me, I wiped this mornings dew on my face for eternal youth, and picked some spring flowers to leave at my doorstep with a slice of bread as a gift to keep the faeries happy. Happy Beltane everyone! 🕯🌸🌳🧚♀️🌼🐇🕯

You made me think that some of the chores I have to do this time of year can be a way to connect with nature and welcome summer. I always have dead leaves on my lawn from last Fall that I didn't have time to rake. Instead of seeing it as an annoyance, I realize it's a great opportunity to get some exercise and get some sun light.

While I'm happy to be snug by the fireplace and enjoying a hearty meal it almost feels nostalgic to see the pretty spring imagery and remember about flowers and butterflies! Looking forward to seeing footage from your Beltane gathering too. I don't currently know of a similar celebration in this country but now I'm looking at the indigenous calendar to see if they have similar fertility celebrations between spring and summer 🧚✨ Never thought I would see the day when I'm actually asking google which time period cattle were introduced lol!!! 🐄🔥

This was a very fun, relaxing video about this great time of year. All my flowers are coming out too, like dandelions, lilacs and tiny lilac-colored flowers. I love how you touched on just about everything regarding Beltane, Mayday, Walpurgisnacht- the many names! I’m glad you mentioned the people being mean-spirited as well - and it sounds like they committed KZbin Community Guidelines violations - and I’m glad you’re continuing to make this kind of historical and folklore-filled content AnyWay. It is them who should not be posting things. I’m grateful to be viewing positive healthy wholesome content like yours.

Wonderful summer vibes. I just realized its Beltane day tomorrow on 1 May. The sun is out today here in Hertfordshire. For your region to be sunny is a definite sign of summer approaching. The vibe reminds me of paintings of humans and animals sitting together to picnic in harmony in green pastures. Regarding intimacy during this time of the year i particularly find the effects of hormones such as oxytocin, progesterone, and prostaglandin on dairy farmed animals such as cattle, sheep and goats which are used for milking . I have always loved sheep and I am sure that's why horses are attracted to me. Regarding your community post. You're welcome. I hope you had a chance to read my advice too. Again I suggest having somebody else to monitor and delete negative comments so you don't have to see them or be effected by them.

Liked your 😂slaughter of Irish celtic 😂 on Beltaine. Looking forward to the rest. The bone fires (from which we get bonfires) were to drive the mist (which was the source of diseases in olden times) before they went to the high fields to fatten and nurse with the young. It was a celebration to free themselves into the growing year after winter. And get ready to send the crops after sowing. I'd like to introduce you to the works of my teacher Elen Sentier. If you wish, I can relate to you how I found many traditions.

The cows were driven between 2 fires in a ritual of purification before they were driven up into the hills to their summer pastures. As the seasonal round mirrors the progression of human life, Bealtaine commemorates both the arrival of summer and the reckless exuberance of youth.

Hello from Sweden. Nice one and interesting here it is called Valborg i gues after that Germanic Saint. We light huge public bonfires and it is a big thing in university city's/towns for the students to party.

But you put up your May pole at midsummer. I always wondered about this. Perhaps because summer comes later in Scaninavia, the northern parts anyway. I'm from Norway.
@patriksimion6 ай бұрын
@@kirstimeretearnesen1202 Yes whe celebrate Valborg at 30 april and light bonfires. Midsummer whe celebrate at the end of June and dance round "maypoles" whe cal them midsommarstång wich translates to midsummer pole. Midsummer has to do with the summer solstice to do or the tradition I think.

Oh my gosh, I wanted to send you a nice comment too...! Wonderful video. Beautifully told, the only thing I would add are crystals. What kind are we putting on our alters...? I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess lots of Citrine to represent the sun. Maybe if you're feeling generous, some recipes or traditional dishes I can look up... 😉 lol. I am very thankful for your videos and others like it. I always practiced alone, but now I finally have an alter (a big one..) I sometimes get a little lost on how to decorate. I find that when all else fails, my intuition kicks in, and I just take a look around me. If you follow the seasons, there's really no "wrong way." I serve a goddess too, so I have fun incorporating things, smells, objects, beverages, food, etc.. I try to include her in the celebration by adding some of her favorite things to the alter, along with as many really traditional decorations, so for me, more candles than normal, and lots of flowers. I think I might even make a flower crown, too. Screw the haters, you keep doing what you do. I enjoyed the video. I thought it was very informative. I'm excited to see how you and your friends celebrate Bealtaine. Have fun...! Bless ✨️
