One of the few competent restorers on You Tube doing furniture restoration. Few understand the process of working within set parameters on antique furniture, to the those starting out the solutions are hard to comprehend so the path of least resistance is often chosen for fast satisfaction. It can be difficult even for experienced restorers at times to achieve excellent results . A lot of work often comes about in fixing the mistakes of previous work. the one thing that can't be fixed is when an old French polished surface is removed, because a hundred years of wear and oxidization cannot be replaced in a persons lifetime. Here this person was able to save much of the original painted surface while removing the grained oak like finish.

Imagine: this cabinet "saw "the birth of: Schumann, Wagner, Bismark, Marx, Brahms... And the death of Beethoven, Schubert, Hegel, Goethe...and so on and so on (I just went as far as 1832...). It also "saw" WW I, WW II, the beginning of the EEC and the fall of the Berlin Wall... I couldn't hammer a nail to save the world...shame on me... But this kind of work is so relaxing! Fantastic job! Best regards from Lisbon Portugal PS - In southern Portugal there is also a tradition of painted furniture with floral patterns. It's mostly a "touristy" thing these days.
