@@alexc7864 From everything I heard, the Si will probably be still a sedan and the Type R a hatchback. Is seemed pretty reliable as such. The Si would seem fine with upgraded suspension of the Sport/Touring, dual tip version of the Sport Exhaust and HPD Appearance package, etc. But ifbit was up to me, the Sport Touring Hatchback shoukd have the previous Si 200 HP 1.5 Turbo, and the Si should have the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo from the Accord Sport/Touring and the Bose sound system, etc. and what options they usually have. It is the more affordable and practical performance version fir enthususst, and more comfortable for daily driving than the Type R, particular the seats and supension ride, brakes and super soft tires that stick to gravel and are expensive and wear down superfast. People who get the Tyoe R, usualky want to go racibg, like my friend does with his, or collect them, and/or had the money to get one for status, and may not even know the real life down sides of it mentioned above. Which makes the Si much more practical. For the more budget minded that are enthusiast, but don't need the horsepower, and all the tech but want the sport appearance, handling and essential gear without the extras like the sunroif, power seats, dual zone A/C, etc, and want the more reliable, N/A 2.0L engine, they can get the Sport Sedan, and now the Sport Hatchback with that engine, with an available 6 Speed. I think that makes if great, especially if you like the styling and engineering refinements of the new sedan and hatchback over the previous generation. It surpasses the Corolla Hatchback, unless you're a diehard tuner that wants to tweak, customize and modify your car.

I get all the design and aesthetic talk and appreciate it. But at the end of the day, for me it comes down to the increased utility of the hatch. I've never owned one, but when you occasionally need to transport something, or even throw a bike inside vs. on a carrier so you can lock up the bike, that's where the hatch comes in for me.

I agree. However, the wheels on the Sport Touring do not look good (the angles in the spokes are backwards on one side compared with the other side). And there is no port injection in the 1.5 Turbo engine. So make mine the regular Sport with 2.0-liter port-injected normally-aspirated engine and radial (more or less) spokes in the wheels (which look the same on both sides).

@spencerlorrigan
@spencerlorrigan 2 жыл бұрын
@@ryanfgrantjr3009 I remember hearing that they officially cancelled the coupe for this generation, because of extremely low coupe sales on the outgoing generation. Imo that might have to do with the fact that they half assed it and made it almost the same size as the sedan for production cost (I think it has the exact same wheelbase?) Which made it just an awkward looking car. Kinda sad because I like coupes, but I'm not to hurt.

The hatchback space is frankly pretty shallow when the seats aren’t put down. I like to road trip a lot with friends and the sedan is longer and was able to fit all of our luggage, where the hatchback isn’t quite as deep, nor long. It is a bit taller but it’s at an angle that ends up blocking your rear view anyways. Both are beautiful and there’s no denying the hatchback’s versatility with the seats down, but for road trips the sedan is superior.

Just got the 2022 sport touring hatch a few days ago. I love it. The front end looks even better in person vs the sedan, and I like the fastback style of the hatch, even though the sales guy said he thought it was ugly haha. The hatch makes more sense also for my use (camping/photography), so it's also a practicality thing for me. I love the tail light design as well. I also like that it doesn't try to be something it's not. The 10th gen seemed to try to be too sporty, but in a weird way, with the fake vents and aggressive body lines, in a car that's meant to be economic. If I wanted a sport honda, I'd go with the type R. The interior on the 2022 civic is much nicer, and just overall the car is more refined. Which for my taste, fits perfectly. Everyone has their tastes and preferences, and luckily the hatch market isn't lacking for choice.

I would buy the 2022 Honda Civic Sport Touring hatchback over the sedan version because I think it looks a lot better than the sedan especially from the rear. I would prefer it as well with the manual gearbox but only if Honda fixes the rev.-hang problem when charging gears. I hope the Si would be offered in the hatchback. I prefer the coupe-like design in the hatchback, which actually should be referred to as a “liftback” or “sportback.”

*Those window addons are probably factory accessory addons also available aftermarket. Likewise, the wheels look like extra cost optional wheels like the previous Civics, which I think are nice, but not nicer that the stock equipped Sport and Sport Touring models. Wherever this right hand drive model is, that may be the OEM spec wheels, but the USA 🇺🇸 version has IMHO, nicer, more performance oriented wheels, as the Sport Sedan/Hatchback which has racier blacked out sport wheels that go great with the optional HPD Appearance Package on the Sport Sedan with body kit, rear spoiler and blacked out emblems. I like the Touring Sedan, but I like the Sport Touring Hatchback much better. And prefer the drivers seat, steering wheel and instrument panel on the left side. 😉 The Si should have dual exhaust tips like the Sport Sedan, and it would be great if it had the detuned 2.0L turbo engine from the Accord Sport/Touring for way more power than the previous Si 1.5L turbo, since more hard core performance drivers that plan to race will get the Type R, while everyday driver performance enthusiasts will prefer the more practical and comfortable Si.

8:40 technically this is not a hatchback, it's a fastback. Hence the confusion. What many aren't getting is this Civic is simply too long to be a 2-box hatchback. It's as long as a Golf wagon: if it was to be boxy as a Golf... then it would be a wagon. 11:10 again you're not considering lenght. You're not getting less space than a boxy hatch, this would be true if the car was as long as a classic hatchback. This one has the volume of a boxy hatch (which is 30 cm shorter), PLUS the extra volume given by those extra 30 cm.
@Michael-ur5qb

That makes sense. Look at the K4. It increased in length to compete with the Civic and the hatchback looks more like a wagon. I personally like the “liftback.” Hatchbacks haven’t been doing well in the US for quite sometime. They haven’t been popular since the 90s. So this style makes more sense.

What is honda doing? I'm so confused. So is this the new hatchback that replaces the type r? And the type r is now a sedan? The Integra is pretty much a si with a Integra logo on it. Integra is supposed to be the performance side of Honda now, but I'm not seeing it. Anyone else confused as me?

Love the new sedan design.. The tail lights seem to be borrowed from INSIGHT parts bin. I definitely prefer the sedan over the HB. . HB style looks like it's Butt was bitten off too severe for me.. As if the shark from Jaws movie took a bigger bite than he should've taken

I'm a more traditional car enthusiast and personally I do not like car body designs now a days. This is my reason: sedans are looking like hatchbacks and the Honda civic sedan is the perfect example just look at its exterior trunk design it is basically mimicking a hatchback and this goes to most every other car brands as well. If car designers think that is the way to the future in car looks and aesthetics I'd rather live in the past. I know that aerodynamic designs for better fuel efficiency and now EV's are the new norm, but common car designers, design a body that's appealing as a sedan not a car that looks like a flattened capsule on one of its ends.

I'm glad Honda made this dramatic style 'correction' from the previous design. When you popped the old Type R on screen for a few seconds it really was shocking how overstyled it was compared to this new sleeker version. Still wishing they had gone with a true hatchback, but if the floor of the rear is deep enough, it should provide alot more cargo space. I'm also surprised by how different the two models are styled, they appear to have different front bumpers, different side skirts, and completely different rear ends with the taillights and bumpers changing completely. That's unusual. Usually, a manufacturer will keep as much of the design intact across different variants so they don't have to manufacturer different body panels for each model. So I'm glad they made the hatchback its own thing rather than a copy of the sedan with just a different roofline. I wonder if we'll see civic sedan owners opting to do a 'front end swap' to the hatch bumper...much like old Civics would swap bumpers from an Si. And I'm guessing that blue hatchback photo is from their 'accessory catalog' photoshoot. Where they put all the accessories you can add on at the dealer when you pick out your car. Rainguards over the windows, rear spoiler, and those wheels are different from the promo video, probably offered by the dealer for an extra $1000 or something.

It's interesting to see the trend of cleaner, less complicated designs coming back not only with Honda but pretty much the entire automotive industry. Seems like we reached a peak where we literally couldn't add more lines and creases to a design, only way to go was to dial it back. And I think you're right, the blue hatch could be the accessories car.

The Golf is more squared off because there is less car behind the rear seats. The Civic has just as much vertical load space, but much more longitudinal. If the Civic roofline was as flat as the Golf, it would be a wagon.

Hatch is the way to go, If you want to keep the handling of a sedan and not go into crossover territory, in fact is very practical specially when you have pets. Fold down the seats and you can make move a small apartment in no time.

Sorry, if the base price of the sedan is 22k, why would we assume that the base price of the Hatch will be higher ? So you chop off a portion of the rear, and it automatically costs more.....should it not cost LESS ?

The LX sedan comes with steel wheels and hub caps. The LX hatchback will have 16" alloy wheels. And some suspension upgrade over sedan.
