Good ole Juan, He sent you a wrench. A good 10 hours You spent on the bench. Threads to the left, It caught you off guard. Back and forth, back and forth. It wasn't too hard. The tiniest hammer Came on to the scene. A clean glancing blow, But don't get too mean. The grinder and buffer- The touch of the Scout. This thing came out beautiful. Makes me wanna shout. More work on the wood. I can't be misled. I knew you would add Some ScoutCrafter Red. From the sunny banks of the Underwood Branch, thanks for the fun. :-)

John, I ended up drooling over the finished wrench😱. It turned out beautifully but as you said it was 10 hours and a labour of love. If you and others do not restore these icons of the industrial age then they will be lost for future generations. The old tool manufacturers took enormous pride in the way these things were made and a lot of modern companies could learn a few lessons from them with today's built in obsolescence.

John, First off, what a beautiful finish. You should make a floor to ceiling, wall to wall 2” deep glass cabinet for a wall in your living room. Then you should take all of the tools that come out as beautiful as this one and mount them in this cabinet. Can you imagine what an eye catcher this would be? Take care and stay healthy.

Great restoration John! That’s awesome that the handle comes off that wrench unlike the Coe wrenches with the rivet! I love that hammer of your great grandfather’s! That’s awesome! Tools with a history like that really make me happy and that it’s still being used. 😃👍🏼

That wrench is beautiful! Well worth the effort. I have my dad's hammer, my grandfather's saw, and some of my great grandfather's cobbler tools. Some of these I barely restored because I like looking at them, using them and thinking about their hands on them. Wood and steel on tools is OK to me. Some of my favorite tools are wood and steel and go pew pew. I always said some of the most beautiful art is guitars, (pew pew), and girls, You never get tired of looking and loving them.

I've got an old Bemis & Call 15in. No.90 that I restored. It had at one time belonged to the old Missouri Pacific Railroad; as it is so stamped. I believe it to be a steamfitters wrench from the teens or 20's. Perhaps the 30's. Mine does not have wood. It is all steel. I suppose the thought being that steam would swell it. It no longer does any work, though it still could. Just a very nice wrench with a well deserved retirement.

What a cool wrench and amazing restoration! I didn’t think it was possible but you are getting better and better at this. That satin finish is awesome and I love the Scoutcrafter red over Bondo repair idea. JB Weld makes a wood filler that works really well too. I know you don’t like wooden handles like I do but that one sure turned out nice. If you ever have one that has an unrepairable wooden handle you could do G10, stacked leather or one of those really neat colored epoxy scales like they use in knife making. It wouldn’t be original but what a cool upgrade! Take care. 😁👍🏼

We even got a nice little rant LOL. No I get the problem with the wood and metal but it does look nice! I'm doing an English Jackdaw wrench at the moment, it's just exceptionally bad, the pin is stuck in the tumbwheel, very pitted, like if it's been buried for a while. I don't even really like English wrenches but it's a big 15" and just so bad that if I screw it up I will toss it no problem. Just having fun and learning but not counting my hours, 10 probably won't get it done and also no half as nice as yours. Look forward to Fridays!!

So awesome, by far the best out of the box! 10 hours well spent, can I have it back now? 😂😂😂 Love the handle, Wish you had shown a little more of the bondo technique, it had a bunch of wood missing! Great work Scoutcrafter! There is a big chance this wrench would have ended up as scrap before I found your channel 👍 keeping history alive. I’ve been watching KZbin videos of what cities looked like in early 1900’s, to put some context at the kind of world this wrenches lived in. Someone born in 1900 would have lived pandemics, depressions, world wars, cars.. hell plastic buckets like you showed last week! I wonder if they were as bleak about the future as we are right now..

As you know, I thoroughly enjoy ALL you videos, but this one had that great older Scoutcrafter "feel" to it. I would have liked to see how you did the nits and the ferrel as well. I can assume they simply met the sanding belt, but knowing you, there is some trick you use for holding their round profiles while sanding. Fantastic info on that left hand thread as well - had no idea but will look out for this now! Absolutely beautiful job. 👍🏻👍🏻👏👏

Springfield MA is a very interesting place, I went to college there where basketball was invented. The national armory was located there from 1777 to 1968 making all America's small arms. Smith & Wesson is in Springfield. America's 1st horseless carriage (steam and later gas) were made there along with America's 1st tire (Goodyear), 1st Dictionary (Webster), 1st motorcycle (Indian), 1st post office, 1st postcards, 1st pullman train car, 1st engine powered fire truck, 1st Sporting Goods Co. (Spalding), 1st ice skates (Barney), 1st adjustable wrench, 1st horse & dog show, 1st car road race and 1st radio station all happened in Springfield.

That wood handle is nice, but I know what you mean by swelling, cracking etc. I use one of Dad's old hammers with a new handle. I love it. I gave it an SC certified cleaning and using my deburr wheel. Juan sure sent some nice stuff.

If you think about how old it is and all the use it's seen you gotta admit the wood held up pretty well. The great thing with a handle like that you can find a nice piece of wood with some beautiful grain and turn a new one on the lathe and really jazz it up. I probably would have given it a good yank and broke the handle, never would have guessed left-hand threads.

I had a steal handle monkey wrench that I was trying to unscrew and I thought it was being a pain. It turned out it was left handed also. Trouble was before I realized it I had mushroomed the top of the handle. That was my learning experience. Stay safe and healthy my friend. Thanks

I ordered a pint from my local pub last week and the barman / owner said would i be interested in getting a one drink on the house just for some honest feedback as he just got in a barrel of brand new ale not seen tasted or heard of by anyone else appart for the brewer themselves. Well i thought this sounds interesting and i felt honored to be chosen to be the second person to experience it in the world and for free which is unbeatable. So I agree he goes out back and returns with a glass full of sawdust?? I said immediately if he was joking to which he replied no this is it.. The brewer said its shavings from the barrels and bark from the hops? He said he was going for a very dry ale thats also bitter? I scratched my head and thought it'll be rude not to after its a freebie and agreed to give feedback. So i had a mouthful choked a bit and after i recovered. I said no doubt about it its dry and bitter alright. plus amazingly you can really taste the grain... 😂 🤣 🤣 🤣
