Ben said "ZX Spectrum" properly? Felix is hamming it up in a sketch? The world has gone crazy!
@Zhylo10 жыл бұрын
Zed-X Spectrum is the proper way anyway, as it was a british microcomputer to start with.
@azyfloof10 жыл бұрын
Indeed, "Zed-X". Not the "Zee-X" Ben insisted on calling the thing when he built it :P
@b4ux1t3-tech10 жыл бұрын
The fact that it comes from England has nothing to do with pronunciation when it's literally the alphabetical symbol, not the word "Zed". For instance, British people say "Dragonball Zed" when it is, technically, "Dragonball Z". It's a letter. Not a word. DISCLAIMER: I really couldn't care less about Dragonball Z. It's a crappy show, but it's the first and only thing that popped in my mind when I was thinking of for instances.
@trisymphony10 жыл бұрын
Christopher Pilcher technically it is a pseudo-english name written in funky japanese characters that make no sense if you read them out, neither to the japanese nor to the english. so it's all wrong, everybody loses

But that's Ben. If all you wanted was dry technical information, there are less successful shows on youtube. It's Ben's show, and I wouldn't want to turn his show into a dull, humorless job for him. Most of us do that 40 hours a week. If I could have more fun at work, I would totally do it.

Being serious here but I am no genius but I do believe that with a little time and programming you could build an app with buttons and sliders for specific functions and the slider to turn and add a hit counter or health bar to show how much you can take and some sensor to tell when you are punched instead of relying on unreliable drunk human minds
@145tak10 жыл бұрын
If the Rock Em Sock Em patent you are talking about is from 1963 then it's public domain now. The patent office grants 20 years then anyone gets to practice the invention without having to license it. Designing around patents is also a good strategy when needed. Good work.

It's not a shibe in you, it's a shibe inu (japanese for dog)
@Mudux10 жыл бұрын
it's shiba, smartass...
@Ronke0110 жыл бұрын
Inu is the Japanese word for dog, but the origin of the prefix "Shiba" is less clear. The word shiba usually refers to a type of red shrub. This leads some to believe that the Shiba was named with this in mind, either because the dogs were used to hunt in wild shrubs, or because the most common color of the Shiba Inu is a red color similar to that of the shrubs. However, in old Japanese, the word shiba also had the meaning of "small", thus this might be a reference to the dog's small size. Therefore, the Shiba Inu is sometimes translated as "Little Brushwood Dog"
@Ronke0110 жыл бұрын

I think the mechanism could be better. Make one servo/motor control the rotation and then the arms are pulled by that so then one arm punches when rotation one direction and the other in the opposite. This would make the control very simple and the action all one swift movement.

4:18 - I don't know why Illustrator doesn't keep the rotation of your shapes stored so you wouldn't have to take note of the angles. It's such a stupid thing, and although we're in version, what? 16? 17? Adobe still didn't do it. Oh, by the way, I miss the "Rants and Raves" section of your videos, Ben. Why don't you bring'em back?

When working with the Gallileo, was it easier to program then a Raspberry Pi? Cause, I found out the hard way that a Raspberry Pi is not friendy with servo control, or just C++ in general (I hate python), and I ended up ditching the Pi and going back to an Arduino.
@mrlazda10 жыл бұрын
If you can use arduino than Intel Galileo should be easy for you(It use Arduino IDE). But still you need to know that Galileo (and Raspberry Pi) will never replace real microcontroller, if you need powerful microcontroller then find some with arm cortex m3 (or m4) because they are meant to be used for microcontrollers (A series i for mobile phones and multimedia devices with os), Raspberry Pi have processor that is meant for mobile phones. media players and so on, Galileo have GPIO pins connected to processor over i2c and default speed of GPIO is 230 Hz except for two pins that can go up to 2.93 MHz (cortex m4 have max speed of GPIO of 100MHz). For Raspberry PI you can write in c++ it is not so difficult, I even managed to write bare-metal application for it (in c++), but i was disappointed with performance of it (most of 8 bit microcontrollers have better performance on GPIO then it)

ben just use the linux theory outsource the gui design to the element 14 community have a contest to make the best gui shell for your "game"
@MonolithTyriss8 жыл бұрын
So.. how does this Galileo compare with say a Raspberry pi 3? Would the pi's wifi have worked the same as in this setup? I imagine the price point is similar, and the pi 3 has a higher clock speed so I'd figure the pi 3 is a better option in today's market!
