I have studied Ben’s 5 fundamentals for 2 years. It is the Bible of Golf. From the grip, which is KEY to the swing to the follow thru… Ben’s teaching works. Each of the fundamentals have details in the book. He teaches a kinesiology, which is a study of the muscles and how they relate to the total body on the golf swing. It’s absolutely fantastic but it takes some practice. I am 72 years old and right now my golf game is as good as it ever has been.

From your understanding of Ben Hogan’s swing how do you feel about left leading elbow? During set up, does your left elbow feel more tucked in to the hip or is it more pointing it out to the target line?

Hogan is a legendary golfer. However, he was a big jerk. He used to frequent a restaurant I worked in Fort Worth, TX. I have zero respect for a person who treats others disrespectfully (no matter their notoriety).

well, hogan didn't do anything with any of his elbows. when you look in power golf at his driver swing, face on, you can see that his clubface is shut at the top, but open in the start of his downswing. and, it is not his elbows that change the angle of his clubface. and, the simple fact is that there is not one single golfer out there who does know how he does this, if indeed they have actually even noticed how the angle of his clubface changes in the "transition". maybe it all happened by magic

@@andycartergolf when you work it out you will realise that the movement down, into the right side, with the elbow is not an active movement. it is effect by the control of the club with the hands. it is fair to say that pete has come very close to working this out; but, he hasn't quite got there yet. but, either way, if a player doesn't build the downwards rotation of the left hand- in the waggle- into their game, that hogan advises in five lessons, they will not be able to build the correct transition into their swing. and, of course, if the hands are too low, at address, a player can't make a downwards rotation of the left hand in the waggle.

Everything in the swing is irrelevant if you fail to make decent contact with the ball that achieves the distance you require with a reasonably straight flight. If you put stuff up on youtube, you should welcome comments.
