A true artist a real talent. It's refreshing for a musician to come back after a critically acclaimed debut album with an achingly beautiful piece of music. A piece of music that radio stations will think is too long to play, a piece of music you know he loved and crafted over rather than conforming to record labels or success.
@stangul10 жыл бұрын
BBC Radio 1 is a funny little place. They can play the shittiest pop trash mixed with such beauties like this, nearly 8min long, tune. Kudos to Zane Lowe for promoting Ben's music
@3ADWOLF10 жыл бұрын
Well said gents. A song is as long as it needs to be and radio stations shouldn't be affraid of playing longer length songs because at the end of the day i'd rather listen to 7:48 of quality than two songs involving talentless people that have no input other than turning up and singing and even then they need auto-tune to make them sound good lol. One day "popular" radio/charts will recognise talent over trash and i hope that day arrives sooner rather than later.
@rishichattergee145310 жыл бұрын
Yeah but I still think radios need to play this. God damn radios are gone to shit with the bs they play.

Radio 1 is good because they play a lot of good modern artists like Ben Howard or Ed Sheeran. Of course because they're a station based around the top 40, they do play some trashy shit that makes its way into that list too, but hey, you can't like every song you hear right. The Radio 1 DJs are good too with their funny banter :P

Because for the majority of people, this kind of vibe get them to think about themselves and their lifes, and they translate this feeling to "sadness" when some of us think of "beauty". Same thing as the big majority being afraid of boredom. Aaaand mainstream media, aiming at a majority of people, they give them what they want : staying in their comfort zone. This leads to the end of creativity, slowly sloping to the end of the world as we know it. (sorry if my comment sounds pretentious, or if the syntax isn't perfect)

For me, this song will always be a favourite. The delicate melancholic beauty of the verses juxtaposes and sets up perfectly the musical intensity and ferocity of the emotional crescendo. Music like this takes you on a journey and once the quiet riff comes in halfway through the song it recaptures your attention and investment and prepares you for the climax. Can you tell I'm procrastinating from my Dissertation?
