How is that? The sooner people give in to complete despair, the better? I realize the discussion is re geopolitics. But even there, DJT did what he could in his first administration, despite opposition of the deep state. Obama had supported jihadis, along with Israel, in an effort to bring down the Syrian presidency of Bashar al Assad. That project was well underway when DJT pulled the plug on support for the so-called "moderate rebels". Russians on the ground pulled their fangs and claws. It was not a complete destruction of deep state forces, but significant. DJT actually ordered all American troops pulled from Syria, and he was defied. Do you understand? The CIC of the armed forces was defied. That does lend credence to the idea that the US president may be irrelevant, but it is more important to look at what was accomplished. Syria was saved. An it may be very important not to be fooled by the necessary rhetoric that nods to the power of the deep state. In 2016, Hillary was salivating for war on both Russia and Syria. Had she been elected, that is what we'd have got. Instead, DJT reinvigorated the US economy, at least until the deep state pulled the covid scam. Even steel manufacture had returned to the US. We had a respite, despite constant opposition to his desired policies. Do you recall how MSM painted him a lunatic for suggesting that HCQ and ivermectin might be used as treatments for covid? Now, we all know, both successfully treat covid. It is well documented. Those of us who dug for info knew then, but most people were fooled. He was prevented from doing much that he said he wanted to do. The "swamp" that he wanted to drain was deeper and wider than expected, almost a complete infiltration of our various governmental structures and "our" representation. To this day, DJT rhetorically sucks up to the apartheid, genocidal state of Israel, possibly to remain a viable candidate. But I doubt he would continue support of the genocide. I could be wrong on that. But I do know that KH would fully support it, kackling all the way. DJT can't, IMO, be straightforward on a subject like that. The younger US population is seeing through the Israeli scam and criminality. Both Israel and the US have long been used as deep state attack dogs. Power politics. I don't know if they see that much. The challenge to freedom is global. But many, many people are still enthralled by the MSM/cultural spell cast on US people re poor little brave Israel, surrounded by evil enemies...the story we were told in school, in tv specials, by the State Dept and "news". Most don't know the history of Z...ism. They don't know of early or current opposition to that violent political/settler agenda, or of opposition by Jews whose identities have been stolen to cover for it. They don't even know the true story of the USS Liberty, in which attack the Johnson administration and Israeli leadership colluded to start a major war, blaming Egypt. The Soviet Union spared us that, by threat of retaliation against Israel. And try talking to brainwashed "Christian" Z...ists. They think Jesus wants Palestinians murdered. If you can call that thinking. They slander Jesus, and God is portrayed as a genocidal monster, so interested in a piece of property, that he urges it be acquired through torture and mass murder. It is a strange world. No, I am not certain of anything, much less the future. But I prefer to give DJT another chance, hoping he has more support this time in high places - as he clearly has among the people - than to vote for a party that wants to scrap the Bill of Rights, including freedom of speech. As to Stein, voting for a nonviable candidate isn't a "protest". If it is, in anyone mind, it is meaningless. It is a throw away vote. It is admitting defeat. Even if she were genuine, it would be a waste. But she seems very "placed" by the deep state to me. She is pro-genocide by her support of the "climate change" policies that would cause mass starvation and freezing, utter impoverishment. She never said a peep, not that I saw, when doctors of conscience were fired or stripped of licenses for adequately treating covid patients. Researchers were censored for truth telling, and she was not among them. She is a physician, so...where was her voice? As to geopolitical realities, many months ago, I watched a video interview, in which she was questioned. What would she do? I have no recall of the details, but I do remember thinking that State and the CIA would eat her alive. Her childlike grasp was embarrassing. I think she'd be given an "explanation" of "threats", and fold to the deep state, assuming she isn't already theirs, like a cheap umbrella. I think she is already a deep state test of how many will give up their vote in despair (or false "hope"). This guest has some points to make, but I am not at all confident in his overall assessments. I would consider other motivations than he suggests for actions, and other players than the obvious. He seems to despise the United States and everything about the nation. Ok. He is entitled to his opinion. But his hatred of the nation seems so visceral that I think it determines his opinions, more so than careful thought. I don't deny the crimes of the US government, infiltrated since before the assassination of JFK (who had threatened Israel with cutting off all support over Dimona). But I think there may yet be good people who would honor our Constitution and respect the sovereign rights and security concerns of other nations, only now getting a handle on the corruption. We will find out soon. November may be our last chance to vote for freedom, per our Declaration of Independence.

@@TeriBrown-li4ge I understand. You gotta play the way you feel it, with regard to your best intuition and discernment. People of good will are bound to differ in their conclusions. When I think of the boring rally speeches, given by DJT, I consider that he is talking to a crowd of deliberately dumbed down people, not only by mis-education, but through poor nutrition and poor health. I think he is smarter than his speeches. Again, I could be wrong. I absolutely respect your choice to essentially say, "None of the above." Ben is typically dead on in his analysis, the only blind spot I see in his thinking is his approach to Taiwan. He has called Taiwanese leaders from the past few decades "independence extremists", a characterization which is actually laughable when you think of how close Ma Yinggjiu rode with the CCP and how disciplined Tsai Yingwen was in her execution of strategic ambiguity. There would have been a war a long time ago if Taiwan really had independence extremists in government... There is also the inconvenient fact that the Taiwanese people themselves by no means want reunification. Ben paints it as if the anti-unification movement is being astroturfed from the US, when in fact it is the will of the people. Finally, he also brings up the three communiques without understanding that the US only "acknowledged" China's position on Taiwan and by no means "accepted" or agreed to "uphold" it. Read the communique yourself and see. I have a lot of respect for Ben, but I think he needs to educate himself more deeply on this issue.

Greeting from London. The Chinese culture is based on wisdom from Confucian rule-based education down the generations. That kind of education is also prevalent in countries like Singapore, Vietnam, Korea and Japan. In the last century, China has had enough of wars, unlike the newer countries, e.g. USA. Its people doesn’t linger on playing victims either (lost 20 millions in WW2), being united makes the country prosperous. Individualism not really encouraged, the individual is positioned at the bottom of priorities, after family, community with the nation on the top. Humility is virtue, civilised people have minimal need for violence. Thank you so much for the analysis of the situation in China.

💯 Ben Norton a good realistic evaluation in comparing life in USA is actually like compared to a citizen’s life in Chinese system. Also agree it is just a fantasy believing either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump will be less warmongering than each other, there is no rule by President in USA empire, the two main political party’s are both completely funded and serve the same oligarchy and obey the military empire state and it’s parliament of oligarchy. People like to feel in control but both the two main USA political party’s do not allow the main interests majority of USA citizenry actually want them to represent, neither party offers universal free healthcare or ending USA as a full spectrum dominance warmongering insidious criminal and homicidal global empire. USA is a pretend democracy and many people wish to believe they control it with their vote, but a vote for the two main party’s is a vote for the same global oligarch run military corporate empire. China is showing how much more progressive for world peace and the quality of life of citizens in China it is when the state controls its oligarchs and corporations for the overall common good unlike how USA system sacrifices common good and world peace for sake of its irresponsible corporations and doomed pursuit of impossible full spectrum military dominance in a naturally multipolar developed and rightfully regionally representative world of humanity! Love

An incredible conversation with the incredibly intelligent Ben Norton. Thank you for the great conversation which illuminated my perspective greatly! My only beef was that there were WAYYYY too many advertisements (much more than other shows) that interrupted the conversation considerably and was super annoying!!

Thank you Ben for your panoramic vision. My dad worked with Chilean copper for ITT after Allende was deposed by a CIA backed coup in 1973. Allende had nationalised copper. Pinochet bought British tanks to shoot protesting Chilean students. Margaret Thatcher said Pinochet was "a good customer" of Britain when he was admitted to a London clinic and, despite an international arrest warrant, treated for cancer. I taught Libyan bankers in 1983 who praised Gedaffi for claiming that Libyan oil revenue belonged to Libya. Reagan bombed Tripoli in 1985. I saw the bombers flying over Cambridge after taking off from Lakenheath. Mitterand refused to allow them to overfly French airspace. They missed Gadaffi but killed his 15-month-old niece/daughter. Hillary Clinton, David Cameron and Nicolas Sarkosy backed the coup that deposed Gadaffi and launched a civil war that ripped Libya apart. This was directly responsible for the boat people leaving Tripoli for Lampedusa on unseaworthy vessels. Italy has to deal with the humanitarian crisis. At the very least Hillary owes Italy an apology. Cameron, disgraced over the Panama Papers (his dad evaded UK tax), was reinstated as Foreign Secretary. Hugo Chavez claimed that Venezuelan oil belonged to Venezuela. Mossadech claimed that Iranian oil belonged (in part) to Iran. The British have still not admitted that a British agent masterminded the coup that placed Shah Palahvi on the peacock throne. Tony Blair lied about WMDs on behalf of George W, son of a Bush. George H was also a son of a Bush. Prescott Bush got rich by doing business with Krupp-Thyssen, who supplied American steel to Germany during the Nazi rearmament. He also fronted a banking operation for recycling German capital from Berlin. It was not a federal crime until the US entered WWII. The Bush dynasty is thus technically NOT a band of international delinquents comparable to Columbian drug cartels.

Not doublechecked but according to AI overview, 'The US military industrial complex is a significant part of the US manufacturing industry, accounting for over 60% of the total. The US defense industrial base is made up of over 200,000 companies, including large corporations and smaller businesses'.

Gross. Why use A.I.? I appreciate you admit using it, but it's gross.
@gerhard7323Ай бұрын
@@colettechausser7879 I always aim to attribute and in this case I did so, qualified it and people are welcome to dig deeper knowing this. It was done on the spur of the moment. Norton's claim that a substantial amount of US 'manufacturing' is actually its MIC so was curious. Looks like he was correct. Nothing 'gross' about it. The source I mean. Not the fact.
