Ben is the best person on KZbin to fully explain how to lift and execute an exercise properly using correct form and no ego whilst also making you think of the mechanics of how your body works. And the mind muscle connection as well. Brilliant teacher!

I just caught on to all of this alone, working out in my garage a month ago. I’ve been working out off and on 5yrs and I’m making gains in a caloric deficit. I wish I would’ve realized this my first year. I’m really glad you chose to touch on this topic bc I haven’t witness any other instructor who has. Thanks again you helpful beast.

Thumbs up for Ben..really the best explanation of muscle/exercise mechanics i've seen... he truly makes you learn how any subtle variation will activate a different muscle although you're doing the same exercise...also you will know immediately what you are doing wrong when you get this kind of understanding of how your body work when you exercise... great stuff

Internal rotation in lateral raises will more than likely cause joint issues. Do lateral raise with slight forward stance and also externally rotate the shoulder so as the weight is vertical in gravitional pull then you will isolate the medial delt more. This will be less stress on the joint. Lean forward too much and you will hit the rear delt.

I was just about to say this. These bodybuilders give tips that might help with muscle growth a bit more but it it will destroy the body in the long run.
@DCJayhawk57
@DCJayhawk57 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, this is how I do lateral raises as well. I am more interested in lateral and rear delt growth from lateral raises, so the forward lean not only saves my shoulders, but really helps target the muscles I'm trying to work. One queue that's really helped me eliminate body English is to flare/flex my lats. I think this helps further eliminate my rotator cuff from the movement (helps decrease the range of motion at the bottom, where the delts are less active and the rotator cuff and traps have a tendency to take over). You really have to be focused and controlled on the eccentric to prevent your lats from relaxing, but you'll definitely get more from less weight this way.

So true Ben , the weight is just a means to an end. Ive watched lots of people sling weight around and getting activation, but could get better activation with less weight, saving the joints and time because of more actual time put into a specific muscle. Like you said Ben , its really quite simple !
@MI40MuscleIntelligence
@MI40MuscleIntelligence 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly. You'll actually create more tension by being mindful of set up and execution, get more out each rep, each set, all while minimizing risk of injury. Work smart, not harder. ;)

If every person who lifts weights to increase muscle listened to Ben Pakulski and followed his directions ther would be a world full of MANY muscular physiques ! Ive been training for just over 20 years and all the advice from other bodybuilders i knew all the 'Muscle mags " i read all the videos by Pro Bodybuilders i watched provided but a drop in the ocean of knowledge and instruction that Ben has provided ! And most (majority ) of the PROS nfo/instruction was useless hhahaaha unless of course you had those Pros genetic potential! Greta info from Bpak

This advice may apply to the bodybuilders who are willing to sacrifice their joints for maximum gains, but for the average gym goer it will prove to be detrimental ,especially the ones who are just starting. Exercises that require internal rotation will destroy the shoulder joint in time.
