I must say that really turned out pretty. I've never cared for the etching on the glass designs of yesteryear. But this is exceptional despite the etching. Two thumbs up!

The etching isn’t for everyone’s taste like anything else. I had some small, glass desert plates and a glass serving tray. I was trying to think of what to do with them. I needed a Christmas gift for my stepmother. I’m an artist and I have a pretty steady hand ~ so I washed off what I tried on the front and flipped it over. I painted the whole bottom with gold paint, making sure to get all of the cuts. I wiped All of the excess paint off with damp paper towels and let it dry. I accented some of the empty spaces with simple designs ~ squiggles, dots whatever. Let it dry. Then painted over all of the spaces with about different colors in a uniform, complimentary pattern. Let it dry then covered the whole bottom with gold. I let it dry and flipped it over and did the edges for evenness and wet paper towel to clean the inside edge. Did the same with the small dishes and cured in the oven to set the paint. It turned out so Beautiful!!! I shocked myself! Hahaha. It’s food safe because all paint is on the bottom. The etching looks like it’s part of the glass. Hand wash only. I used metallic acrylic paints. The little 2 oz sizes that are about $1.50 each. My stepmom LOVED IT!!! She uses it every holiday and when she and my dad have over. She keeps the tray out on a stand on the kitchen counter. They look really high end, like you got it from a little gift shop or something. I bought the glass pieces on Amazon for about $40 total. A thrift shop would be great for something even more one of a can. I don’t know how this will look on Dollar Tree dishes. I bought some of the trays a few weeks ago that I’m going to try this on. Only problem is you can’t cure the paint in the oven. However a couple coats of glossy mod podge would probably work great for sealing and a group of them would look pretty on display, and can be used for any snacks you would put on them plain, just have to hand wash. Thanks for posting this! Reminded me to start making some more for Christmas! 😊
