That rock garden doesn't look like much, but there are so many little places to get thrown off your line. It doesn't help that it's almost always greasy through there and the rocks are really awkwardly spaced/placed.

It's entertaining, but no-one would choose to ride terrain like that in the real world. Seems like a waste for bike mfr's to evolve machines which aren't suited for riding real trails.

For those just here for the flip it's at 1:40 As many have pointed out there HAVE been backflips at world cups in the past. Namely Nathan Rennie racing dual slalom in Durango and Cedric Gracia racing 4x in Les Gets. I'm sure there have been others as well. I've changed the title to make me look like slightly less of an idiot. Anyone know of any DH backflips world cups in the past?

Hardest part of riding the shoe for me was staying off the brakes when it was moist. Funny thing is, it's almost always at least damp in the trees there. So that thin layer of mud on the rocks is gonna be there all weekend most likely. That mountain makes it's own weather due to the elevation. You get some type of precipitation almost daily in varying quantities. Most of it is pre-dawn mist that condenses on everything. Really enjoying watching these guys ride a mountain I'm familiar with finally. Shaping up to be a wild one for sure.

Cathro, mate, just wanted to say that your coverage has made this season for me. The races are much more interesting with that extra bit of insight. Your enthusiasm is a great bonus, and it’s cool to see the riders really responding to it. I hope you’re proud of what you have done for the sport.

Tahnee is one of the only girls that spread their legs out when riding and look natural like the boys. Even at 13:40 Myriam Nicole hugs the bike with her legs and can’t absorb things as well... (again at 14:16)
@ghostofjakeblues5 жыл бұрын
That's a fascinating insight. You should get in touch with professional mountain biker and World Champion Myriam Nicole and share your advice. I gave Loic a few pointers last year, and look at him now. Anyway, I can't hang around to chat as I need to give Wyn Masters a wheelie lesson.

ghostofjakeblues when did I ever say it didn’t work. But I’m sure once Tahnee gets her fitness and confidence back she’ll win everything. Also I guess you don’t ride, because the way she hugs the bike like that is not the correct technique.

UCI back at screwing it up 👌
@SkillsWithPhil5 жыл бұрын
The UCI officials in these situations usually have pretty valid reasons for making the changes they do. 1. The lippy jump at race speed could be insanely dangerous when riders are pushing hard out of the gate. 2. The second tape modification is out of the Wild Zone. The following section is ridiculously steep and once you drop in, you can't slow down. I suspect, the course builder opened up the inside to potentially allow riders to send it off the boulder into the the bank after which you can't slow down. While these changes are a bummer for spectators, they are most often are good for the riders. There's a fine line between acceptable, and too dangerous.
