If you happen to see this, how has it gone? You in less pain? Has it helped to arch?

This is one excellent tutorial. I’ve one question. When using a wide grip, do your wrists hurt when locking the elbows (at the beginning and end of the lift) I saw many people not fully locking at the end or at the start but for powerlifting you do need to do that.

What a great video, leading with the elbows was such a helpful cue

Is scapular depression 100% necessary? I read Greg Nuckol’s how to bench press article and he mentions that it’s up to personal preference. I seem to be stronger while only thinking about retraction rather than depression as my shoulders protract slightly as I depress.

Wow, thank you for the fast response. I’ll continue trying to focus on depression since that’s what you do. Thanks again

Quick question bro, when you bench press, do you laid on your back delts or your upper traps? Thanks

I'm trying to get a memebership over here, I was trying to deadlift and squat at the rec and they told me to keep my shoes on. There's way too many people at the rec too, the squat racks/ deadlift platforms are never open. Screw the rec honestly

I found this video very helpful as well. I have been told many times elbow flare is bad. My bench mechanics are similar to yours, being a long-armed lifter. I am amazed at how short your range of motion is considering the length of your arms. Do you have any tips or tricks on this?

I am against stretching prior to lifting. I am old and it will loosen me up. I do not stretch at all. I do warm up sets, but then again my bench PR is 585 raw at age 55 and it has not snapped anything yet. I dont use leg drive. my feet barely touch when I am lying on the bench.

Kole Carter Maybe it's because you're a big dude and this whole mass is giving you some additional balance, but I believe incorporating some leg work wouldn't hurt your bench.

Lifters should avoid static stretching or holding position for time prior to lifting. But you should do dynamic stretching prior to lifting because it brings blood to the muscles and limbers you up!
