Just got this knife in my hands a couple of weeks ago, other than looking cool i thought that the action was slow and can feel the blade rubbing. After playing with it for 2 weeks i put it back in the box. I prefer my Hogue-Doug Ritter .

I've opened and closed the knife all day and have got most of the coating wore off where the axis lock seats in blade and it's getting so much better. They look so much better in person.

Mine is in the mail and I called benchmade today to ask for a deep carry pocket clip for it. To my surprise they said they no longer send them out for free anymore. They just sent me 2 clips two weeks ago so I asked when that policy started and was told 2 days ago. They will send them for $5 though which is still pretty reasonable.

Literally the best benchmade ever made. Perfect size, good geometry by benchmade standards and of course CPM-M4. Mine will be with me for a long time :)

Pre-ordered mine back in early-ish January but apparently it was too late to get in on the first wave so I am still waiting patiently (mostly) for mine. Grats to those who have them.

I have a 1st production 560 Freek, excellent hard use folder and holds an edge forever. I really like the soft scales although it doesn't slip into the pocket easily. While the new looks very nice I'm satisfied with the one I have.

CPM-M4 dwarfs S30V but if you have the original then I think you're all set.

Wicked review man! I'm glad to hear someone else talk about how the rubber freek looked ugly and was more a pain point than a feature. It reminded me of 90s cheapo gas station knives.

Thanks Bryan. This really is, a fantastic knife! I completely agree with you, as far as the coating on the blade goes. I sure could do without it. But you know how marketing people can be. At Benchmade, and elsewhere. They like to think that everyone who buys this knife, is likely to be a rough & tumble Outdoorsman/Rancher/Bear Skinner extraordinaire, with a neck beard. Not some suburbanite comedian, with a bad back. Stuck on the couch, constantly flipping this knife open and closed, and not able to get up! 😁

I agree with you, the first time I seen the Freek I was reminded of the Doug Ritter Grip! I don’t have a Ritter, so I have my sights on the Super Freek! Thanks for your video

Got mine today and love it got some breaking in to do but this is allot better than my old Freek . Tried to find a low# but ended up getting one with no#s

I agree about preferring non coated blades for semi-stainless steel but I live near lots of water and have had M4 rust in my pocket even though I use oil coating/clean them some what regularly. Love M4 toughness though, well worth that tiny downside. Its a Cerakote (brand) coating on the blade which is definitely different than DLC (Diamond like Carbon) coating they normally use.

M4 on the wicked edge is scary sharp. I have another benchmade in M4 that I sharpened this way and it’s awesome. I used diamond “stones” at 17 degrees.

Thanks for the intended comparison with the Hogue Ritter. I have ordered the latter. Seeing the two together on your video, I prefer the uncoated Ritter blade.

Definately impressed with the Super Freek so far and may have to pick one up at some point. Looking forward to your comparison with the Ritter. FYI The coating is Cerakote (poly-ceramic) and very durable.

This is a cool looking knife! ....but, I really love my Gray G-10 Griptillian with CPM-20cv blade, blue liners and standoff and coated, sheepfoot, Spydie-Holed blade.... I put a St. Clair Designs "Slim" Carbon Fiber Pocket Clip on mine and that whole set up "to me" so surpasses this knife in a lot of ways...oh...and it costs less money! :-) The Super Freak just seems too beefy for my EDC needs.

Brian I've had a black coated sheepsfoot blade mini grip for about 7 months now and its holding up well...ymmv but just thought I'd let you know my experience...oh and btw mine is s30v

In the scale of Benchmade, it’s priced about right, but... that’s in the scale of Benchmade. The M4 makes me give it a pass on price.

RAIN MAYHEM spyderco has a pm2 in m4 priced similarly at knifeworks as an exclusive you could go for that instead I think the price is decent for both

Pricing is fair it's right in the middle compared to other similarly size knives. The axis lock is insanely strong albeit a pain in the ass to work on. Blade shape is proven, steel is prove, and with a %10 discount the price is solid. I looked at the Gayle Bradley 2 and all the reviews said the same thing it's not comfortable unless you apparently have tons of calluses to shield you from sharp edges (or you knock them down yourself). I get why some people say that Benchmade is priced high, but if you take the time to look at what you get here it is definitely a nice purchase.

Its fairly priced for a USA made M4 knife w/g10 scales. They make cheap knives for folks like you for a reason though, nothing wrong with ether type.

So I have to say the coating on everything was annoying and is still annoying. My Mini barrage that I de-assisted is smooth as hell, but the Super Freek just isn't there yet. It's getting closer every day but it doesn't close under it's own weight just yet. It appears like the high traffic areas take some time to break in. I love this knife though and I'm very happy with this knife and it's reminded me just how nice Benchmades can be. For those who are interested the lockup is rock solid, blade is centered, grind is even. WARNING: This knife is a bitch to put back together.

Very knice overall. Agree about the coating. If it was DLC...maybe I wouldn't be as irritated. It does look good. Time will tell about the coating wear.

Keep that back stretched and loose. Speaking from a guy disabled by mine lol. But def don't let it get stiff, it'll cause a ton more problems for you. Hope it gets better. Awesome knife. Similar pattern to one of of the hunt series fixed blades can't remember which one though, I sold it long ago.

Great review I really enjoyed it. I have the same knife in s30v and the rubber scales and it's a fantastic knife as yours it's centered and smooth right out of the box. I love M4 if I didn't have a Gayle Bradley already I would definitely be interested in this one.

Benchmade pocket clip looks like an after thought. They do this with most of their knives. Would prefer they design a clip that fits the design of the knife. Ruins a nice piece for me.

Exactly sliced dicey , this one is definitely not on sale. This guy Pete doesn’t know what he is talking about. I have this knife the M-4 steel isn’t cheep steel . Knife is very light weight especially for its size. Cool knife just a little stiff right out of the box like most Benchmades . If you buy this knife , anyone that knows any better will enjoy it.
