There are two levels of benchsentry, one says that it works with an app and needs an outlet, the other doesn't. Do all benchsentry products need and outside outlet? Do they all work with and app.? If not, how do you get into and lock the one that doesn't?

There are two versions of the BenchSentry. The one that works on the app and locks- does require an outlet. The other version, does not lock. It protects the package from weather and being out in the open, but would not secure it by locking.

The lid looks kind of flimsy. Can it not just be lifted open on the left front corner?

No, it cannot be lifted on the corner when it is locked.
