There's a conversion of MGO to UMF. 400 is about 12 UMF

What's brands do you recommend. I found three in a local health store but no where listed on either of the jars was UMF. I did, however, see MGO and a number listed on one of the brands.

the grading scale u see called UMF, actually checks to see how much per square inch per say (not the actual measurement but u get the idea), u have of this compound. so the higher this compound found per given area, the higher the rating. Manuka honey also has been shown effective against Strep and other virulent forms of bacteria and microbes. It lasted about 1.5 months, eating one spoon almost every day (some days I didnt remember). i eat it, but went well also with pimples and scarring.

Of course NOT. UMF is an abbreviation for Unique Manuka Factor Association it comes with TM small letter on a right upper corner, it's a Trade Mark, not a certification - a common customer's mistake.

The MGO in Manuka honey refers to Methylglyoxal, which is a chemical compound that is found in Manuka honey. MGO provides the antibacterial effect that is so-often spoken about. The MGO grading system tests for the Methylglyoxal contained within the honey.

I have 3 brands in my fridge now. my ''Happy SHeep Honey'' says ''Active Manuka Honey +12'' so I guess the UMF is 12??? I check thoroughly on 2 other brands of Manuka Honey, no UMF or numbers found... so they are not that good right?

Active Manuka Honey is not UMF. It's fake, same like Bio Active or K Factor, there is nothing to do with UMF. The company that are not part of the Assosiation, don't have the licensed and not produce a certified product usually came with their own measured thing. Always look for UMF so you know you buy the genuine and certified product, means lab tested product from a company that have licensed and part of the assosiation.

markus goncalves in australia there's a manuka honey made by capillano the best manuka honey is Airborne honey from south island of new zealand they are made honey by raw not heated and they are producing manuka a hundred years ago..
