Runmax weighted vest-
amzn.to/3ybeD9V
A great underutilized piece of exercise equipment for home-workouts is the weighted vest. Wearing a weighted vest will increase the difficulty of any bodyweight movement you can find weighted vest on Amazon that range from 20lbs- over 100lbs.
A weight vest can be taking to the park, left at the office or easily transported in your car. I highly recommend this overlooked piece of to anyone that works-out at home or is a minimalist when it comes to training equipment.

I didn't use my weight vest, but last year I did a pumpkin run where I ran with 14 lbs total (of pumpkin in a backpack secured to my body and my fanny pack with water/phone/keys). This 14 lbs is exactly 14 percent my body weight. I ran 6.37 miles in 64 minutes (there were stop lights during my run where I had to stop, and there were some good inclines as well). This was last year. I'm hoping this is a good sign that I won't die during a marathon im doing for the first time in March.

@strenghtandlongevityfitness I have a question. I want to use the vest for cardio but I hate running. So I was thinking of doing sprints in my backyard from 1 end to the other, about an acre wide. Since i wont be doing it for as long as I would jogging, would adding a weighted vest make me burn more calories quicker in the backyard sprints ? Is it worth it to add a weighted vest to my routines? Also for Burpees, crunches and push ups, side planks, mountain climbers, etc.
@strengthandlongevityfitnes2434
@strengthandlongevityfitnes2434 Жыл бұрын
@Es-Cada-Dia-Bro I do sprints too because I'm not a big fan of long distance running I don't sprint with a vest on though, it'll increase the risk of injuries and throw your gait off. If you want to make the sprints more difficult add some push-ups or squats before each sprint or find a short hill for hill sprints. As far as wearing a weighted vest for bodyweight exercises: burpees, push-ups, side planks, pull ups definitely go for it I do it all the time. Best of luck!

Have you ever tried to wear two weighted vests at the same time? I just bought the 40 lbs since it was the best value per pound on amazon, if wearing two vests is viable (atleast for home use in private) then I may consider just getting a second 40 lb vest. getting 2 40lb vests cost less then 100 while an 80 lb costs over 200

@@strengthandlongevityfitnes2434 Yeah i see what you're saying, just got my 40 lb(with pads) in yesterday and can already feel it so i could see how bulky adding a second one on top would be lol. I read a study, "Increased weight loading reduces body weight and body fat in obese subjects - A proof of concept randomized clinical trial" where the highload participants(11% of bodyweight). wore it foratleast 8 hrs a day for 3 weeks. a decent amount of fat loss resulted with some fatfree mass compared to the lightload(1%weight). I plan on doing something similar to the study protocol and just wear it for 8 hours a day around the house while doing chores then do some KB swings ,kb squat movements and pushups when working out at home. maybe take it to the gym and do some stairs. I also just got one of those fancy Osprey hiking backpacks with a 50lb load capacity so maybe when I get used to the 40lb then combine the two, but ill see since 40lbs seems plenty for the moment.

Aren’t u supposed to use only 10% of your body weight for the weight of a vest ?

According to who? It's resistance like an other piece of exercise equipment dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells etc. I wouldn't recommend running with a heavy vest though.

@@strengthandlongevityfitnes2434 According to Harvard University. I read that somewhere . Want to make sure I wouldn’t be putting to much weight on my spine .

@Pinkypromise111 Harvard University does studies on putting more than 10% of resistance on the human body. I'm not sure if your information is correct. Perhaps strength training isn't for you.

I just got a 20 pound vest. Oh well it’s better than nothing.

@michael Scotch I agree a 20lb vest is still good and you can always get a heavier one in the future. Best of luck!

Really like the kzbin.infoUgkxKE8pP77yruPYa7SBcl0a72pDnIHtz0wF because the placement of the weights on the perimeter of the vest makes it easy to use for a variety of activities without the weights interfering with any activities. Had an issue after 6 months when the strap holding the top buckle tore out. I contacted Aduro customer support and they took care of me.

@sarabear1238 I've taken some of the weights out too depending on the exercises I'm doing for that day. Also have a 60lbs. All the best!

Not expensive, can be transported easily, and can be used to increase intensity of a variety of bodyweight calisthenics. It was mentioned in the video.

@Andrew J Cunningham Depending on how heavy the vest is it'll disrupt your structural integrity and increase joint issues. The fastest runners in the world don't wear them for running. Think about it.

@@strengthandlongevityfitnes2434 that’s true. But I would think someone wouldn’t run heavy with them tho. The absolute most I’ll use is 20 pounds for running… now pull ups and push ups I’ll do it heavier
